But not speedway -- only started in late 2022.

    Taken from Edinburgh website:

"Joining Adam in the team is Dayle Wood - a new name to British Speedway but with experience from Australia. The 28 year-old from Wagga Wagga, New South Wales has raced motorcycles since the age of 6 before transitioning to speedway in 2018 having always watched and loved the sport."

Regardless of what position hes riding at for me just watching him on track you can see how poor he is. Absolutely no aggression in his riding, not a great gater and then just gives up. Him and Smith were embarrassingly bad last night.

Surely you have to include Dayle Wood in that remark?

Hagon is still young and learning.  Being at #2 can't be helping, as he comes up against the oppositions #1 in his first ride and (probably) a much stronger #2 opponent.

Jack Smith has been around for quite some time now and clearly isn't getting any better, but clubs still insist on giving him "another" chance. Arguably the same could be said about Dayle Wood (new over here, but has been riding for quite a while) and has maybe reached the standard he will achieve?

Plymouth are dammed If they do and dammed if they dont. There are not enough number one riders out there so they get one who was not riding in the league and originally was free and able to ride all of the meetings.

instead of constantly preaching negativity on this forum why don’t you actually try and big up the sport ?

sooner rather later the sport will be gone

There are number One riders out there that can guest, but Plymouth choose to use lesser riders at number one, that to me is "cheating the public".

Perthaps I'm "constantly preaching negativity" on the Forum because the sport is going down the pan and clubs are consistently allowing it to happen, rather than try to do something about it.

As for the "sport will soon be gone" see above.

thanks for the info, so a ndl rider for a sgp2 rider, seems fair, which means Bears have 3 reserves against the second best team in the league, still the Lionesses beat the best team in euro, so maybe we can overturn them.

Jody Scott is now in the main body of the team (from 1st Aug) with a GSA of 4.50.  Trigger (GSA 3.34) guests for Mulford (the SGP2 rider you allude to) who is now at reserve (GSA 4.43).

  5. Copied and pasted off BSPL website report of meeting:

POOLE defeated Oxford 48-42 in a controversial finish to a thrilling Cab Direct Championship clash at Wimborne Road.

Pirates No.1 Richard Lawson completed a 15-point maximum in Heat 15 as the leaders maintained their unbeaten home record in the league, having been given a tough test by the Cheetahs.

The visitors were left fuming, however, with the events of the final race which was initially stopped due to a malfunction with the starting tapes only for the re-run to go against them.

Lawson was backed up by skipper Zach Cook with 10+1 and Lewis Kerr on 10, whilst reserve Francis Gusts scored 12 from six rides for Oxford and Sam Masters scored 10+1.

Lawson said: “Tonight was very tough. I think that has been the hardest match so far this season. We had to work hard for it.

“It was one of those meetings that I knew was going to go down to Heat 15 and it was just that. They ran us close, but we got the win.

“They outgated me in the initial run but in the second one Sam made a really good one and I just had to battle into that first turn and fortunately I got around.”

Cheetahs manager Peter Schroeck said: “The ending of that meeting was diabolical, to be honest.

“In the final race, there was no consistency. We were on a 5-1 in the first staging – and Sam and Francis knew what they needed to do.

“That was stopped because of the problem with the starting tapes. But then have the same problem in the re-run and yet let the race continue – I have no words. It robbed us of a draw and taking the race to a Super Heat.”

Ben Barker’s a top man. He’s the sort of character you need within the pits a proper selfless mentality.

I find his interviews on BSN so insightful. At the CLRC, he was telling the cameras how he had no track intel because he was the only Plymouth rider there, so the only rider without  teammate to share track tips with.

He guested for us in the home defeat to Poole earlier in the season and gave it 100%; something you seldom see in a guest.

Except when it comes to another club calling and wanting him to sign for them mid-season and asks his then current club (where he was captain) to release him. Yeah, very "selfless".

Zischke didn’t ride for Workington last night( injured)so if it’s him, got to be doubtful? Also why is Mulford not riding?Apparently 4 other riders who are competing in the same event, taking place on Saturday night!! are riding for their clubs at Glasgow on Friday, so why can’t he ride for his Club???He hardly ever rides for Redcar, missing next week as well I believe, how can you have weeks and weeks without a match, then when you do have one, riders are not turning up?

    Injured at Glasgow last Friday?

Your never going to please everyone but its not really any different from a football manager in a world cup group stage pulling off  his best players as soon as the team have got enough points to qualify for the knockout round.

Normally they only get a drink and maybe an orange....... 😁

That excuse from Shovlar is absolutely comical.

Good to see Workington comeback and get a big win. Tate Z seems to be regaining some form, Worky look a different animal if he stays fit and keeps this form up. Two good scores in two nights should do him the world of good.

Regarding Kerr, to be honest he was a weird Poole signing from the get go. On the way down, very rarely completes a full season and very little scope for improvement. Starke you knew what you were going to get but has added to his average, absolutely zero point dropping him now.

People going on about Foord yet his average is half a point below Starke according to a few on this thread and Starke is taking more rides as well.

According to the BSPL website (2025 averages):

    Starke: Home 4.90 - Away 4.90 - Overall 4.73

    Foord: Home 5.60 - Away 3.50 - Overall 4.87.

    GSA's: Starke 4.00 - Foord 3.65.

Think Workington need to own up here and come out with the truth because staying silent is just making things a whole lot worse.

The club have already stated that they will bring everyone up to date when they "are allowed to do so", which I presume means that someone, somewhere has put a block on them saying what the actual situation is.

I do feel sorry for Ben,however right from the word go,it was obvious he wasn't really wanted and was more of a make weight. Is Cluff really any better ? I can only assume that he brings more sponsorship with him than Ben.  The team have gelled together in recent matches and are a solid unit, however apart from Klindt, none of them are true HLs.

Will Ben continue to ride for the Centurians now ?

Yes. Says so in the Press Release.
