  1. Hi all Does anyone have a spreadsheet for the 1998 Speedway GP series? (or any that used the format at that point? Thanks Neil
  2. I've been trying to find heat details for the various GP's over the years, and Wikipedia, for 1995, Swedish Grand Prix, Heat 6, lists: 3 Rickardsson 2 P Karlsson 2 Ermolenko 1 Gustafsson If you look at the totals they have for these riders, they tally with the above. So, either the Wiki is wrong (no surprise there?!) or Karlsson and Ermolenko had a dead-heat? (would they both get 2 points or 1.5 though?) Totals show Rickardsson 13 Karlsson 10 Ermolenko 9 Gustafsson 6 Can anyone clarify please Cheers Neil
  3. Went to Wimbledon a couple of times, and yes, at that time the two lines were separate (according to the book, 23 yards - and accordingly the track length over these years was measured over 4 laps not one - up to 1275 yards at it's longest) Hyde Road was a great racing track. Had a couple of great visits when the fair was still there for the BLRC, with the likes of Olsen, Collins, Carter etc
  4. I purchased the excellent 'Homes of British Speedway' by Bamford/Jarvis I have noticed that a significant amount of tracks are/were 440 Yards long Anyone have a theory why this might be? Neil
  5. Folks Wonder if anyone has the heat times for the following GP's 1995 Austria, Heats 6, 9, 10, 15, 17, 18 and B Final 1995 Germany - All Heats 1996 Denmark - Heats 18, 20, A, B, C & D Finals TIA Neil
  6. Hi folks Having not been to a GP Meeting, I would assume that like other speedway meetings, the winning rider is credited with a winning time? The two sites I look at (world.speedway.org and speedwaywolrd.tv) only give the heat results. Anyone know of a site where there are heat results WITH times? I'm trying to actually find all GP results back to 95 Cheers Neil (coming back to Speedway after a long break!!!) PS - anyone know if/how the Heat line-ups have changed over the years, or has it stayed the same formula?
  7. My World Final results book has 1950 World Final, Heat 19 missing. From the score chart, I have deduced that the Heat details are Jack Young, Jack Biggs, Vic Duggan, Jack Parker What I don't have of course, is the winners time Can anyone help? Thanks Neil
  8. Cheers, most helpful and much as I suspected, but nice to knw it's not imagination!
  9. Just started checking heat line-ups again, and it seems in 1937, and 38, Rider 2 took the heats that Rider 1 would now take! ..or have I just gone mad! So, does anyone have a collection of World Final programs and could tell me the heat order over the years. Bit of a long shot I guess, but here's hoping Neil
  10. Can anyone help me please with the format of the World Speedway final. I have a book detailing all the heat details going back to the first final in 1936 I'm trying to computerise this in MS Excel, and have noticed that those early finals seem to have a different format - in terms of when riders appear - to the standard 20 heat format I've been used to. I'm sure it's not a misprint, and indeed the same riders compete against each other as they would nowadays, and it only seems to be a few heats around the middle of the meeting. For example: Nowadays heat 11 is riders 8, 9, 3 and 14 Heat 12 is 13, 4, 10 and 7 Heat 13 is 7, 12, 14 and 1 However in 1936, 37 etc the heats 11 and 13 are transposed, (same rider numbers but different order.) This meant rider 8 took 2 consecutive rides in 13 and 14 and after heat 12 some riders had completed 3 rides whilst others only 1 Is this correct? If so, when did it change to the current format, and were there any further changes along the way Thanks Neil
  11. Hi folks, I'm new to this forum tonight. A long standing Bees fan, now living near Oxford, I haven't been to a meet for a good few years now for one reason or other, but still keep looking at Ceefax and the web for results etc. Anyway, I've started to create a database of UK speedway tracks present and defunct, and would like some help. I'd very much like to gather the addresses of tracks, and also nicknames of teams. Present day tracks are fine, and I've found one or two websites dedicated to old tracks. Perhaps those enthusiasts among you who collect old programs might chip in here? Look forward to hearing from you all
