  1. Charlie Venegas and Ed Martinez will be competing in the series in 2009.
  2. A full report and race details can be found here: http://www.speedwaybikes.com/res08_w/cm080607.htm
  3. Greg was in the GP yesterday. Logistics made it impossible for him to get from Gothenberg to Miskolc in time for the race. Billy is home in the USA and has a new job that precludes him from travelling to Europe AND he was hurt at Costa Mesa two weeks ago and still isn't fit. Josh Larsen and Chris Manchester aren't racing this season. Charlie Venegas spends his Saturdays in meetings with the powers-that-be in the city of Vallejo where he is trying to promote speedway. I'm not sure about Brent Werner. If Chris Kerr was healthy he would have been there.
  4. Ricky doesn't have an American passport, therefore, he can't ride for the USA in team competitions. If he was able to ride for the USA, he would have if he was given the opportunity especially since he was already in Europe for the Under 21 Qualifier.
  5. Unfortunately, we don't get the GPs over here. Not in person and not on the television. Maybe IMG will push to have it put on American television soon.
  6. Neil is not eligible in 2007 because he was already 21 at the turn of the year and will turn 22 this year. He was still eligible for the US Under 21 Championship because it was still 2006, his last year that he could compete in the Under 21 Championship. It was announced at the USA Speedway Awards Banquet on the Queen Mary a couple weeks ago that Dale Facchini will get one of the spots with the other spot yet to be determined.
  7. I believe that there will be a press/practice day on Thursday. You can e-mail fastfriday@aol.com to get information. The website is http://www.fastfridays.com
  8. You should be able to get tickets on the evening of the event, just get there early. I think they start selling tickets around 5:00 p.m.
  9. Charlie "The Edge" Venegas won the Jack Milne Cup for the second time in his career. He defeated Mike Faria, Bobby Schwartz, Bryan Yarrow, and Nate Perkins in the main event. Earlier in the evening, Ryan Fisher suffered broken bones in his left foot and lower leg and former US Under 21 Champion Justin Boyle suffered possible broken ribs in a crash. For complete report and full results, go to: http://www.speedwaybikes.com/res06_w/cm060610.htm

  12. Bryan Yarrow won the Main Event at Industry Hills, defeating Shawn McConnell, Nate Perkins, and Skyler Greyson. For full results and report, go to: http://www.speedwaybikes.com/res06_w/ih060531.htm

  16. Charlie "The Edge" Venegas defeated Ryan Fisher, Gary Hicks, and Dale Facchini in the Main Event on the Opening Night of the third season at Industry Hills. For full results and complete report, go to: http://www.speedwaybikes.com/res06_w/ih060517.htm
  17. Ryan Fisher won the Scratch Main at Costa Mesa on Saturday. All five riders in the race have spent time in British Speedway: Bryan Yarrow, Gary Hicks, Bobby Schwartz, and Dukie Ermolenko. For a full report and all the results, go to: http://www.speedwaybikes.com/res06_w/cm060513.htm
  18. Costa Mesa opened its 38th consecutive season last Saturday with its annual Spring Classic. 49 year old Bobby Schwartz held off Chris Manchester to win the Scratch Main. For full results go to http://www.speedwaybikes.com/res06_w/cm060506.htm
  19. Greg's wife delivered a baby yesterday. I think seeing the birth of his son is a little more important than a meeting. His wheelies were probably his excitement over being a dad for the first time.
  20. Lora: There isn't an American speedway forum, but there is a North American Yahoogroups mailing list. The mailing list's name is "speedwaybikes".
  21. 2004 USA Under 21 Champion: Justin Boyle 2004 USA Youth Champion: Ricky Wells
  22. Bryan had surgery to repair his injured shoulder on November 2. He wanted to race in the Under 21 very badly, but if he cancelled his appointment he risked not getting a rescheduled date that was soon enough to allow him to heal in time for the beginning of the 2005 season.
  23. Eighteen year old Justin Boyle won the AMA U.S. Under 21 Championship with a perfect score. Second place was two-time Youth National Champion T.J. Fowler with 13 points. Eric Carrillo was third with 12 points. The meeting was held at The Grand in Industry Hills, California and was promoted by Donny Odom. Also held was the California Youth Championship, which was won by Krystal Cramer. For the full results and race report go to: http://www.speedwaybikes.com/res04_w/ih041120.htm
  24. 4. Shaun Harmatiuk (4th at U.S. Under 21 and raced in N.Z. last winter) 5. Justin Boyle or Chris Kerr (tied for 5th at U.S. Under 21) 2005 U.S. TEAM 1. Bryan Yarrow 2. Eric Carrillo 3. Justin Boyle 4. Chris Kerr 5. Cam Rafferty, Greg Hooten Jr., or T.J. Fowler The U.S. held its first Under 21 Championship last season, there isn't one in definite plans for this season, but it is being discussed. It could be used to determine the U.S. team for next year.
