  1. Correc he isn't as good, he is better. At an equivalent age Ward is well ahead of where Loram was. At no point in Lorams career was anyone ever saying he could go on to win multi world titles. Indeed it was something of a shock when he did win one... something he never got close to repeating. Loram was a very good, exciting rider for sure, but apart from that one season where the format suited and he had some luck (which most champions need to be fair) he was just below the top echelon of riders.
  2. It may have bypassed you, but the object of speedway is to win races. The best riders are judged by how many they win. At the highest level of the sport Hancock and Woffinden are ahead of Ward. It's really quite simple. Well you haven't learnt much have you. If you are seriously suggesting that Ward has a better racing brain than Hancock you are seriously deluded. Hancock has managed to remain at the top of the sport for so long primarily down to his racing brain, where to position the bike, how to defend a lead. Ward is quite the opposite, he just flat out goes for it and very often its his poor decisions in big meetings (Grand Prix's) that cost him. How can you agree with him when he is disagreeing with you?
  3. Ward has shown no remorse over this. He has lied about mitigating circumstances and his only concern was 'not being hydrated' which as has been pointed out makes no difference to the alcohol levels in your system at all. It seems it has not dawned on him at any point that perhaps he should refrain from drinking before a speedway event. Also, let's bear in mind he was already out and already drinking BEFORE he received this so called news. Zero sympathy should now be given to him.
  4. 3000 (not sure of the currency), its been mentioned numerous times on the thread. He is now simply awaiting the verdict over further punishment.
  5. Not been found guilty of anything? So they banned him from the GP and fined him for the fun of it? Sorry to break it to you, but I doubt many riders out there are concerned where they stand in your all time top 20. Interesting post though, you're constantly slagging of Pedersen because of his tough riding.. but then claim there were other tougher riders in the past, but funnily enough you are always praising them. On another point and I think waihekaces touched upon this earlier.. Isn't it funny how riders such as Kelly Moran are lauded as being brilliant characters for their excessive drinking, drug taking and other such activities that Ward can only dream of coming close too...
  6. Which has nothing to do with your claims of 'intent' which you have been pushing forward.
  7. Bull. You don't get away with drink driving by claiming, well I wasn't intending on driving when I was having those drinks.
  8. What you don't seem to understand is this isn't criminal law. Its the rules and regulations of the sport and Ward has FAILED the test. It is really very simple. Even in criminal law your argument would be flawed.
  9. No, you've spouted some rubbish, there is no 'argument' in there. In what context is 'booze' legal and silence tampering illegal? The rest of your post is simply full of irrelevant speculation.
  10. What are you talking about? You will have to explain how booze is 'legal' and silence tampering isn't. I can only assume you are saying that drinking alcohol is 'legal' by the law of the land, but silence tampering is 'illegal' by the rules of speedway... Rather pathetic argument that! There are no 'blurred' boundaries at all. It doesn't matter what has been 'suggested'. For him to have failed the test he must have consumed a significant amount of alcohol... Facts win out over suggestions.
  11. It is reported on the Pirates 2014 thread that Ward feels he is not deserving of a ban. If this is true, he has once again learned nothing. Throw the book at him if those are his thoughts.
  12. There is nothing positive to say regarding the current situation. Defend the indefensible all you like, but don't bleat, like you have been, about the thread dragging on.
  13. Thankyou for confirming what I said.. even though you attempt to dismiss it with 'that's a laugh'.. Read what you have said.. "If there hadn't been reaction to it". So if you hadn't of posted, there would have been no reaction would there? But by posting, and continuing to post you are ensuring it will drag on and on and on.. which you 'claim' you don't want to happen.
  14. The point is, they would have shut up if folk like you didn't keep dragging it out. Not much of a fan if you like to perpetuate the bad talk about him.
  15. The appropriate action taken as per the rules and regulations of the FIM. A precedent was set with Stefan Danno.
  16. If you're a fan of Ward, your best course of action is to shut up and let it blow over. By constantly trying to defend him you simply cause him more damage. Perhaps you're not a fan after all and just simply want to continue to pour fuel on the fire...
  17. We all know exactly what Woffindens 'bad news' was and saw him living it in the public eye. I didn't see him failing any tests though. With Ward, as it stands, its just an excuse.
  18. Well lets try and put this together.. He was out.. at night.. so that's the night out part covered.. He was one 'assumes' with pals, rather than on his own or strangers.. but perhaps that could be contested.. He failed an alcohol test the next day so a decent amount of 'booze' was involved. So yes, a description of a boozy night out with pals pretty much fits.
  19. Premier League doesn't need one, apparently its the best league in the world with no problems
  20. As Humphrey says, of course all those factors are taken into account, but it will still be a random number generator that is going to drive it. It's not completely random, it's a controlled random. There has to be controlled 'randomness', otherwise the best rider would always win, which as we know doesn't happen in real life. The key is the 'race engine'. Do you just want a race result produced, in which case it would be pretty simple, or do you want the race to be run in stages with text commentary to go with it. All the variables you mention can be built in, with riders having starting values that can adjust during the game, or even during a meeting if conditions change (a weather/track condition built in). The best way to grade the riders is to get some help. Football Manager has folk all around the world provide ratings for the players. In essence they are just fans, you just have to check that nobody has given silly ratings. I don't know about the changes, but like you I spent hours playing as a kid running whole seasons! Happy Days!
  21. Vast majority of speedway fans that 'still' attend. Still being the operative word.
  22. Of course the value for money has been going down year by year, because they've been cutting the strength year by year.. so more fans stop going year by year.. so some advocate, lets cut it further... there's only one result to all this.
