2004 British GP Tickets
crazysue replied to witchnut's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
After studying the stadium plan and the prices for this year, I had finally decided and budgeted for where I wanted to be...plan my morning like a military operation so I can start ringing dead on 9 and find that what was cheaper seats this year have shot up for next year. So in the end had to go for my fourth choice of seats..but at least I got on row 1, somewhere to hang my banner. -
Jason Crump 2004 World Champion
crazysue replied to fatface's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
two, Josef Franc and Michal Makovsky are GP Stars 8) Josef Franc, 1 point from 1 wild card entry...hardly a GP star and Makovsky doesn't even feature in the stats for this years GP stats. Scott is on a learning curve and is improving all the time, he is still young and can still do well, plus the fact, I have to support and defend him as he is the local lad. Keep trying, you will eventually push the right buttons -
Jason Crump 2004 World Champion

not a chance Nicholls is useless - he can't even beat the mediocre Berwick PL riders! Should I be daring and react to this the way I want to, or should I be nice, sit on the fence and not cause any ripples....oh what the hell, lets show near to my true colours for once and stop being the nicey nicey one.....JJ, how many Berwick riders are in the GP series? Riders are people, and we all have off nights, rather than slating your fellow countrymen, how about getting behind them (not literally!) and supporting them. Scott has done very well this season, he's improved his standing in the GP'S and also been a one man team at Ipswich, so lay off.....and no, Scotty is not my favourite rider but he is in my top 5. OK, maybe not upto my usual tirade that I can do, but not bad for someone who is usually one the more reserved forum members, believe me, I can shout and scream with the best of them.....you just have to push the right buttons. -
BSI reinvent the Wheel
crazysue replied to GREDON's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
You mean to say, that after finally working out how it all worked, and starting to like it, they are thinking of changing it all. Also speedway cannot be compared to Formula 1, they have qualifying stages in the two days prior to the race and then the race is over a long distance, not 4 laps, although I am still undecided on the changes they have made to qualifying this year. It was the current (speedway) gp format that initially got my notice (after a very long absence from speedway). I (personaly) thinks it works quite well and does give an exciting viewing point for the spectator....but then I'm no speedway purist...anything that gets the punters in, then why not do it. -
Congratulations to Greg

Sorry to hear it Sue, He paid pretty well. So did the bet I put on Nicki at the beginning of the series -
Congratulations to Greg

Well done Greg on winning in Norway, but why couldn't you have done it earlier? All through the series, I had a bet on Greg winning a GP, but last night was the first time I didn't back him....grrrrrr -

Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.
crazysue replied to drakey's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
And I have rung and emailed Sky, and still no answer -
I wasn't having a go....and yes, I fill in the times, points and all the changes and sometimes I do feel a bit sad but to me that is part of speedway, to make matters worse, I also have to fill in my sons programme....he can't be bothered. This was all said with tongue firmly in cheek, I just haven't worked out how to do the smilies yet. so just imagine a big smile smilie here
-
OK, I must be an anorak then...I always fill in my programme, to me it is part of going to speedway, plus on the odd times I haven't filled it in, I have lost track of what is going on. Even sadder is the fact I use the Grand Prix programme in the speedway star at home when it is showing on Sky. I must be a very sad person indeed

Have spoken to Sky several times this morning and as far as they were aware, no coverage has been planned (mind you, the bosses may not have told the minions). I have been told to ring on Friday -

Just had a look at the press release by Benfield sports, and it is def going on this weekend. Seems like they are trying to encourage fans to go as they are holding all manner of special things. The press release didn't mention anything about problems with riders and their British clubs and it does say that the top 5 riders will be signing autographs before the start. Where does that leave the Elite league this weekend then? -
Will Sky Show Grand Prix next week.

I'll keep my fingers crossed then -

I noticed that as well, kept shouting at the tv...Are you showing the GP?, obviously they didn't answer. -
Shazzybird, it didn't work with Sweden though (I put a canny bet on, laughing all the way to the bank now) maybe next year I will say that all the others will win and GB will lose.....hopefully the jinx will work.
-
Very well said Shazzybird....sounds like our households are the same, all my neighbours thought I was barmy. We should be proud of our country not knock it all the time.
-
At the start, quite a lot were saying we would be lucky or it would be a miracle if we reached the final (something we have not done for 2 years) so we did reach a better that expected position.
-
I get really annoyed with the attitude of some sports fans (any sport or event) that when things are going well, they are right behind their team/individual but when things start going wrong are the first ones to say what a bad team we have. We have to remember that we were not expected to get into the final, we beat Sweden in the race off, we ran Australia very close before that. There were other riders there that did not live up to expectations but we don't seem to be having a go at them. We also have to remember that two of our riders had no international experience before this and rode out of their boots in the first two rounds (and Norris kept that up in the final). All in all, I think team GB exceeded our expectations. Sorry I couldn't stay on the fence about this, I'm usually the one that takes the middle line and mediates to keep the peace but it riles me so.

Sweden World Champions 2003!!
crazysue replied to Robbo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Although I supported team GB all the way, I had a sneaky feeling Sweden would do it, so much so that I put a bet on it (as well as GB). I will be off to the shops during the week to spend all my winnings. -
Fovorite Moment In The WC?
crazysue replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There are lots of things that I found hilarious, especially David Norris' comments but the thing I found really good was the concern shown by all the riders when someone fell or was excluded, this was especially shown by Jason Crump who made sure he talked to Havvy when he went down, and also when he congratulated Sweden on winning. Good sportsmanship and it's made me respect him more. -
Will Middlo step down??
crazysue replied to Vincent Vega's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Well, I believe that he did a good job this year, so no reason for him to step down. It is not his fault if riders get injured, it's an occupational hazard for a speedway rider and given the circumstances he picked an excellent team for the job this year, all of them did us proud.
