  1. I know Albion Way, it's just behind the town centre market, not familiar with the church though. Be careful where you park the traffic wardens are brutal. As for September 11th, you might be wise to wait until early June to find out next seasons football fixtures before making any plans.
  2. Yes, thank you both. Hope to see you both in my favourite part of Britain someday. If anyone ever fancies a tour, give me a shout.
  3. Only just seen this thread. I regularly visit the parkland that was once the Rangers home, there is one remaining wooden step and a weird plaque near the bridge that leads to the new football ground, apart from that there is nothing(sadly) to even hint at it's past. Ilderton Road, formerly Canterbury Road had three pubs, the Cliftonville, the Barnaby both now flats and the Canterbury which whilst still there is now an African bar, other local pubs such as the Crown and Anchor, Albany, Royal Archer, Hatcham,Railway, Fox and Hounds, Prince of Windsor, Rose of Kent, Bramcote and Golden Lion have all closed for good. Nearest local is now the Five Bells, which whilst being ok, doesn't have the atmosphere of the others. I have started a New Cross supporters page on Facebook, where i am currently the only member ! My family and friends all seem to get a glazed look about them when i mention the mighty Rangers, even more sad as many of them support the local football team. Please keep me informed of any pilgrimage.
  4. I think it's more exasperation than bitterness screamer, it would be a bit like England hosting the Football World Cup in 2018 and using Kings Lynn Towns ground, or an Ashes Test match being held at Downham Market Cricket Club. It obviously helps i suppose if you know what 'palms to grease.
  5. It has nothing to do with facilities or there improvements, simply a case of clubs like KL choosing the cheaper option of the Premier league, and then being rewarded with hosting a Blue Ribband competition. All major events and televised matches should be hosted by Elite clubs and if PL sides like KL don't like it they should do the decent and much needed thing for British speedway and step up. Oh and Rob Lyon gets the job of Team GB manager, does a shocking job, and the following year Kings Lynn get a World Cup round ! coincidence or what ?
  6. This is a shocking decision for British Speedway, i can't believe how short sighted some people are. In case nobody had noticed British speedway is facing a very uncertain future, with one of the biggest problems being the lack of aspiration most clubs have to ride in the 'top flight. To encourage and reward one such club is a massive kick in the teeth the the public face of Speedway in Britain-The Elite.
  7. What has the farcical UEFA cup(a competition that even Middlesbough got to the final of) got to do with the Champions league ? teams like Villa and Spurs field weaker sides in the UEFA Cup than they do in the Carling cup. Jesus EVEN my boys have been in the UEFA.
  8. Why would Sky be to blame ? IF the GP's ran without a British rider, and IF the viewing figures and therefore the advertising revenues dropped, Sky would no doubt pull the plug, however if the numbers continued to add up, Sky would be happy to see 16 Orangutans competing. Why do so many posters see the British nominations as such a unique situation ? Why did Harris get a pick ? because he is British champion Just like Celtic and Rangers get a Champions league shot every season, do they deserve it ? depends on your personal views, clearly they are nowhere near as good as Man City or Tottenham or Aston Villa or for that matter Hull City, but they are the best Scotland has to offer so despite humiliating themselves every season they get a chance. Will Sweden be at the World Cup next year ? no, and why, because they were drawn in a group with Denmark, Poland and Hungary, and were not capable of finishing top or second and winning a play-off, however the far inferior Honduras will be there because all they needed to do was finish third behind Mexico and the USA, beating the likes of El Salvador and Guatemala. Is sport fair ? No, get over it.
  9. Whilst i agree that Britain does not deserve to have one rider in the GP series, let alone two, and even then neither should be Eddie Kennett, we do maybe need to look at the bigger picture here. I presume Britain along with Poland, Sweden and Denmark will always be guaranteed two places, is that wrong ? maybe, but lets not forget next year when the biggest sporting competition in the world takes place, there will be teams from all corners of the globe, does North and Central America deserve at least three teams ? of course not, same could be said for Asia, as there will be many capable European football teams sitting at home watching the likes of Honduras and North Korea embarrass themselves knowing they could have done far better. We should all be more concerned with what the exact entrance criteria for the GP's are, if i were Australian, American or from an emerging speedway nation like Russia, i would want to know what guarantees are in place for us. Maybe we should start to accept that International competition needs International competitors, and if the best 15/16 riders were all from the same nation the event would be boring, if we could accept the premise that the 15 regulars are all to come from certain countries therefore will not be the worlds top 15 we would be well on the way, we could then try to come up with a better system than the farce of the top eight, GP challenge and the wild cards.
  10. Totally agree, not forgetting of course that Pedersen also had to avoid Holta.
  11. No but she would have certainly tried to pick Zagar.
  12. Lyon would have kicked Crump out weeks ago, he prefers the younger guys.
  13. I'll say one thing for Charlie Webster, she's not the one in the pits with the least speedway knowledge, because Lyon wins that one hands down.
  14. I'll lose no sleep over tonight Tsunami, but its British speedway supporters acceptance of being 'second best' (or in this case 3rd best) that will hold us back from ever achieving anything. Lets not forget we were only in the race-off tonight because we failed to win at home on monday where Lyon decided to disregard our top point scorer Lee Richardson.
  15. OH............insult the post and not the poster ! having a different opinion on tonights shambles does not make me a troll, hope the mods are reading this and give you a much deserved warning.
  16. What GP stars like, Watt, Holder, Shields, Davidsson, Ruud, Lindback, Iversen, Hougaard and Klindt.
  17. The whole idea that the team spirit is so wonderful is hilarious, when the adrenalin dies down the only thing on the minds of Richardson, Harris and Woffinden will be "if it wasn't for the TWO WASTERS, i'd be in the final on saturday. Team spirit only works when a degree of success is achieved.
  18. Was he ? would you like to remind yourself what he scored in the race off in Vojens ?
  19. What when tonights 17 point rider Richardson was dropped ? lets face it the opportunity to make the final was there for the taking and Rob Lyon blew it. But speedway fans will always rally around the indefensible, and thats why things will never get any better. Wake up a smell the coffee, Nicholls as poor as he has been this year is Ipswich's number 1, Danny King is Ipswich's number 4, and him and Bridger scored ONE point from SEVEN rides, the reason we are not in the final is as clear as day, but don't let your delusions hold you back.
  20. Rob Lyon.............what a complete d***, dropping Nicholls and picking Bridger and King has cost us a world cup final place.
