  1. Good work Chris, I must admit when I first started going speedway again a few years ago I wasn't such a fan of your work, I guess your presentation was just different to how i remembered speedway being in the "good old days"! I actually love what you do now and it definitely adds to my enjoyment of coming to Brandon. Me and the Mrs always have a good laugh at some of the tunes you play "don't let me start without you" for a tapes offence is a favourite! Keep up the good work!
  2. I've just emailed Mark Pawsey via his website contact form, come on Bees fans lets get this moving! There may not be anything we can do but let's not let our famous Coventry Speedway go without a fight! We need some more locally based fans to follow suit as myself and Colin Mills are based out of the area.
  3. We use this website at work: www.planningfinder.co.uk , you can see what planning applications have been submitted in any local area. Brandon Stadium's post code is CV8 3GJ, nothing is showing at the moment but it might be worth keeping an eye on. If you create a login it will send you alerts for any applications in that area.
  4. Colin Mills I will PM you my details, count me in for any support you need. I've been going to Brandon nearly all my life (since the early 80's) and don't want to see it close. Sandhu has no intention of building us a new stadium even if he could, he's only interested in the £££ he can make for himself. Even if he did build one, it will be no Brandon that's for sure, we shouldn't go down without a fight.
  5. Hi everyone, I have a few things for sale on Ebay including leathers, boots & body armour if anyone is interested: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121044478351?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121044487392?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121044776275?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121044779387?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121044851452?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Thanks for looking and Happy New Year to all!
  6. Check out the size of that crowd at Brandon! Awesome! Bet Mr Sandhu wouldn't mind a crowd like that these days! I might have even been there but i would have only been 4 so i can't remember... will have to ask the old man! Great video, thanks for sharing it with us.
  7. Grrrr! How bloody annoying! I was looking forward to watching that. Anyone know when the repeat is on? While we are having a moan, the last 2 meetings i have recorded on V+ have cut off just before the final heat!
  8. I totally agree about Nielsen, he was like a machine in his prime and you can bet that even if he didnt win every round he would have made every final and scored 12 or 13 in the heats. I think Gundersen would not have been able to match that sort of consistency and as good as Knudsen was i think he too would have come up short against Nielsen in a GP series. Ermolenko was absolutely flying during his title winning year though, i think he might still have done it over a GP series. Parsloes comments about Havelock are interesting, i often think of him as a freak winner and not a "real" world champion but as you correctly point out he won everything that year and he also rode very well in the league so that seems unfair. Another interesting thing about Havvy is that he was only 23 when he became world champ, it's amazing that he never won anything of note after that, he seemed to be past his best by the time he was 25 despite all his talent.
  9. Couldn't agree more. Some of the people slating her should go and try presenting tv coverage about something they previously knew nothing about, i could probably waffle on about speedway but ask me to talk about rugby or cricket and i wouldn't have a bloody clue! And she is HOT!
  10. Ashley Holloway seems like he wants a bit of Emil's spotlight to me, not just for Saturday's events but his comments about Pedersen the other week. He needs to remember it's all about the blokes on the bikes, not mechanics who want to get on the telly.
  11. It wasn't you ponceing about like Freddie Mercury was it Jeff?
  12. Rick Miller? I think he only rode for the Bees.
  13. And i bet your Dad is proud of you, picking on kids on an internet forum. Your attitude is poor mate, you should take a good look at yourself if you take enjoyment from upsetting others. What can you possibly get from posting something like that where you know the kid and his family will read it? Keep your ignorant views to yourself. I rode when i was Adam's age, i was never as good as these lads but me and my Dad enjoyed every second of it. He would regularly drive us to Long Eaton after work on a Wednesday night, sometimes just to get 4 laps, we didn't get home until the early hours and he was back at work at 6 am. The parents of these lads put so much into it, they deserve to celebrate their achievements and don't need miserable sods like you spoiling it. Keep going for it Adam, don't let anyone spoil your enjoyment.
  14. Back in around 1993 the great Hans Nielsen did a training day at Coventry, i was lucky enough to go along as a 13 or 14 year old and had one of my first goes on a 500 at my beloved Brandon. It was without doubt the best day of my speedway life and i even got to do a few laps on Hans' bike and scare myself to death! Thanks Dad for taking me!! Coventry has never been the most accessible track for young riders so it was a priviledge to ride there as a lifelong fan, i'm nearly 30 now so unlikely to ride there again! I'm wondering if any other forum members were there that day, and if anyone went on to ride professionally? I remember Lee Woodgate was next to me in the pits and i have a few pics of us, i think Scott Kirton was there too who rode for the juniors but did anyone go on to become a pro? If anyone has pics of the day it would be cool to see them, i have a few in the loft!
