Thanks for the info. Do you know who held the Helmet for the longest period in 1970?

On reading Issue 28 I was surprised to see how relatively poor Ivan Mauger's performances were in the BLRC's in the second half of the 1970's. Was this a random series of off-nights or was it a sign of gradual deterioration in his ability level? Albeit his previous standards were exceptionally high. I would be interested to know his seasonal averages for his spells at Exeter and Hull.

Does anyone have details of Silver Helmet races involving Doncaster riders during seasons 1969 and 1970? I have a vague recollection of George Major winning it at some stage in 1970 but the grey cells are struggling to come up with any more detail. Help!

Thanks for the update. Good to know that Hec is keeping well. Has anyone got a season-by-season breakdown of his stats in British Speedway? He wasn't the most prolific points scorer but he always gave it everything which is what fans appreciate above all else.

Thanks for the info. It must have been a bad night for Gordon in 1970 because despite riding for a struggling Doncaster team and coming to the end of his career he was still one of the better riders in the Division.

Has George Major been mentioned? He spent some time with Doncaster in 1970 and Birmingham after that so although he had a lengthy career before the 1970's he would still fit the timeframe. He was a top rider and is my first Speedway memory from the first meeting i went to in my home town of Doncaster aged 12!

In their brief 2 year history did any Doncaster rider appear in the Division 2 LRC of 1969 or 1970?
