Overused and pretty boring myth about Bjerre. It simply isn't true. In fact him passing on that track was a truly incredible achievement, he should be given a medal. Race after race after race after race...........from the gate.
As a belle vue rider I've already counted a shade under 10 passes from him so far.
One swallow blah blah blah.....
I can't validate your statement. I can only speak on the numerous visits he has made to the Abbey, where he has made a lot of riders look very good due to his inability to mix it, despite his GP status.
I suspect most people, certainly Swindon fans, would say they are more likely to have seen rocking horse sh*t than a Bjerre overtaking manoeuvre.
Your not going to persuade me that Polar is anything other than a gating tart and what I witnessed last night was a miracle...😛

A poor night for the Robins but well done BV they deserved the victory. Swindon were the architects of their own downfall.
Given that this was always going to be tight, I thought Swindon might win 46-44 47-43, I cannot understand the logic in throwing away gates 1 & 3 in the opening races. In footballing parlance it's like kicking in to the wind. I cannot remember LA choosing 2 & 4 when he had the option.
Then, I witnessed the 2nd miracle of my speedway career. The first was Seb Ulamek passing an Eastbourne rider. Yesterday, I witnessed Polar Bjerre pass Doyle like he was stood still. The immense satisfaction at seeing a gating tart overtake a rider is definitely an 'I was there moment'.
Finally, Adam Ellis chucking away two points, which summed up his evening nicely.
The crowd was decent but in truth, it was a poor meeting and changes need to be made immediately at the first GSA to stand any chance of competing this season.

58 points against the League winners?
I'm glad the Private Frazer talk of 'we're doomed' was put to bed in emphatic style.

Stadium building rationed in Swindon!
Fans hoping to see much happening get no Christmas present as a new Osbourne company Riviera takes over Torquay United FC.
Cant imagine what that is about if not housing in the future. But no good news for the Swindon Robins as we move into 2017.
As Plainmoor isn't a big site and surrounded by housing on all sides I can't imagine that its the sort of prime real estate that Clark and his boys are looking for. Not a lot happens in Torquay unless Showaddywaddy are in town...

Surely we can pay the debts of by selling our rider assets.
Bewley got to be worth 15k plus
Richie Worrall was got for 18k probably now worth a little less at say 15k
Stevie I say about 18k
Hougaard about 15k
Fricke is world u21 champ. Got him for 28k so I'd say he's about 40k now.
That should pay a lot of the debt off surely. Then we start again loading riders and build the asset base again.
But then I don't know how much riders are worth so these are just guesstimates
I always wondered what happened to Johnny Ball...

Could be known as Swindon Bobbins this season...
Seriously, £17 for this line up?
My leisure £ plus petrol may need a rethink. 😞
-
Well, I have to say, how deeply unimpressed I am with the line up this year.
No disrespect to any of the team but it will be 10 years since we raced Coventry in the final and the difference in the quality of the teams we had, would be, in footballing parlance similar to the current like ups of Chelsea and Newport.
I accept speedway is in a terminal spin but I have to say the journey from Bristol, every Thursday, is going to be a slog.
Rosco should have kept quiet re Doyle until after the AGM and made the offer of a team place conditional on the points limit. With the offer in place, there was no option but to plough on. This could be similar to The Charge of the Light Brigade.
I can only hope that, if the new track is built, that there will be as much advantage to the home team as the away team, which may actually help them this season.

Grondal appears to have his own limited company, set up earlier this year, surprisingly based in Swindon...
Coincidence?

All very true however it becomes a huge reliance on a few riders. Yes a 6 point reserve is handy to cover one of the other reserve rides plus a 1-5 member if they are having a stinker but what if that reserve is having a shocker or has to withdraw through injury? Its then all on the 2 point reserve whos confidence is probably shot due to only getting 3 rides a match.
Same with Doyley, whilst most weeks he will score a hatful on those days when it doesn't happen its a lot of points for the others to make up.
Agree, but surely Doyle is where is in the world rankings because he is consistent? How many occasions will that happen? There is not much to challenge Doyle on a head to head basis. Given his ability and the current crop of EL riders, he is very unlikely to score 8 or 9 points a meeting from 5 rides. That's not to say it wont happen, but there's more chance of Tottenham winning the Champions League.
On the basis that Doyle wins 4 out of 5 every week, both home and away, we won't need too many wins from the other riders to start making a difference. If Doyle scores 13 every week, the worst we are going to get is 23 (if my maths is right) and that's where we get tubbed 5-1 in the remaining 10 and the Swindon rider finishes last in each Doyle heat. So for every point they gain is a point less for the opposition. Let's be fair we are not up against The Coventry team of 2007 and most of the teams that have declared a rider are ok but I am not getting too excited e.g. by Poole's line up.
Doyle's achilles heel is his ability to team ride. Several times last year Swindon threw points away because Doyle became impatient with Sedgmen or Wright and cleared off in to the distance. Don't get me wrong, Doyle is THE stand out rider and we have him. he is a selfish rider but that is not meant as a criticism. he wants to win and I get that. If he learns to help the guy at number two and learns to team ride like Leigh Adams covering the inside, whoever is at two, will start to ride to their potential and we can do better than people think.
It's up to Doyle to exhibit that side of him and make it happen, which as captain, and top rider that he is, should be part of his armoury anyway.

Is that Bacon lad a 2 pointer? If so I would sign him. Looked alright at the ELRC considering the huge difference in class.
Agreed. I think he rode in the NL match at the end of season for Coventry. Looked good and was only one of two that troubled Ayres that particular evening.

Speedway, to me, is like a lardy cake.
When I were a lad, lardy cake was huge, fresh, full of sugar, fruit and sticky stuff. A treat and a half. I loved it.
Now, you get a small piece, dry, tasteless, the odd bit of fruit, no sticky stuff and bloody expensive.
Occasionally, you get a bit that reminds you how good it was but it will never be the same...

The fact that most employers have a staff function and partners are included doesn't mean that there is no benefit to you as an employee.
Most companies settle via a PAYE Settlement Agreement so it is not reported via a P11d and charged to you via your tax code.
Harris is not an employee, so why shouldn't he fork out. No doubt he'd claim as a deduction on his tax return...
-
Spot on. He hasn't been falsely re-assessed or anything like that he has an average that he obtained whilst World Champion I'm not sure why there is an argument.. Wolves had to suffer him being poor to obtain that average why shouldn't they use it to there advantage its what any good sports team does they try to make there team better
Let's not forget the bi-annual tournament involving Davey Watt...

If people want to wallow in self pity, not get themselves an education, sit on their arse and expect the state to fund their lifestyle they don't get any sympathy from me.Became the Queen in 1952. Started paying tax in 1993.
41 years of tax avoidance.
Not bad, eh?
Anyone else would have been banged up.
And meanwhile, her 'loyal citizens' are supposed to look up in awe at this mob? Don't make me laugh.
Stick them all on a zero hours contract.
Let them have to scrimp and save to pay a private landlord.
Let them have to go to the bottom of an ever-increasing NHS waiting list.
Let their offspring have to be amongst the 25% of kids being forced to live below the poverty line.
The ever-increasing divide between the rich and the poor within our society is nothing short of sickening and despicable.
Plenty of opportunities if people want them but too many people want it gift wrapped.
The Queen still brings more kudos to this country then you could ever imagine and if people want to come and see her and spend their monies here because London is a great place then good on her.
My family are from a council estate, we all worked hard, all have good jobs, we pay tax/NIC, we didn't have a family holiday, or new clothes, we were below the poverty line but I am not moaning or self-righteous.
I get on with it and so does everyone else. Your anti-Roylist anti-capitalist stance is amazing. I bet you own your own home, nice car, have a good job, go on holiday.
How much thought do you give to the poor then?
Anyway, back to the topic...

It's our history and quaint way of life that tourists seem to lap up the Royals have their place of course but
the wealth they hold in land and possessions is way out of balance to a democratic nation in the 21st century.
The tax revenue avoided by this institution could clear the current national debt easily.
The Queen pays income tax and has done so for several years...

There is no winner out of the vote.
Half the country who voted to stay have been led up the creek by the just overhalf who wanted out.
So what are we to gain by severing our links with our main trading partners? Nothing but hardship Imo.
The pound is already suffering the consequences of the vote and is expected to dive even further in the coming months and years. This will mean massive rises in fuel prices which will affect everyone. So far we have been lucky in that oil prices have been low but as the pound falls fuel will rise as its paid for in Dollars. I hope we dont hear moans from the brexit brigade as petrol prices go through the roof.
As for trade, well the brexit mob say we can deal with the world. Sure we can, except the trade agreements are tariff laden. The EU will not under any circumstances allow us to trade with them on an equal footing unless we agree to their demands. So keeping our borders wide open. So isn't that one of the main reasons why people voted brexit? What do they want? Closed borders and visas to enter the UK, or an even playing field with the rest of Europe.
It has been stated we will get our way as the Germans will still want to sell their cars here. I don't believe that for a minute. There is no way the eu will allow us to trade freely with europe without tarrifs. Otherwise what is the point of the eu? They will want to make an example out of the uk so other countries don't have the same thoughts.
As for immigration. The horse has already bolted. And closed borders mean no trade deals. We wont be dealing the cards and the card holder has them stacked in their favour.
I believe the brexit vote will have catastrophic consequences for the citizens of the UK.
All doom and gloom? Yep.
Only for self-employed entrepreneurs...
So, given that half of Europe, and beyond, helped itself to our housing, our hospitals and welfare system do you think it was right that we carried on allowing these people to do so? Perhaps we should have just allowed the French and the Germans to dictate terms and tell everyone how it was, how it was going to be and we just bend over and take it?
Anyway, back to the speedway, for years we, the fans, have moaned about foreigners sitting at reserve on a false average, if that means those inept fools at the BSPA have to finally address the position i.e. think about speedway at all three levels and provide a cohesive and joined up approach then it may be what speedway finally needs. Unfortunately, I think they might just take the Blue Peter attitude....some sticky back plastic and some glue et voila!

Woffindens inclusion in the Wolves team was for one reason only. To strengthen up for the playoffs. No other reason.
Poole had the change forced on them when Andersen badly broke his hand. He attempted to ride again but hasn't ridden since. One change tactical, one an injury replacement. Think its clear one team gained hugely while te other team never covered the injuries suitably
Can anyone help me finish off the BSF crossword?
Hard: 4 down. To munch excessively on sour grapes; To Shovlar (5,5,5)
Easy: 3 chocolate bars...

If this is aimed at me, I was born in Kent and moved to Swindon as a child. Only lived there just under 10 years of my life and had no choice as a minor. As soon as I became of age I was gone and moved to Dorset, where I have been ever since.
Best thing I ever did was getting out of Swindon. Oh, and I moved to Swindon from Peterborough. Does that mean I should be a panthers fan first?
Out of interest, at what age did the extra digit start to grow?

Exactly. The rule is worded in a way that allows loopholes, or manipulation. It's a way for any promotor to fiddle things in their favour if and when the time comes because of poorly defined criteria in the rule book.
The trouble with the rule book is that its a bit like tax legislation.
Everyone knows what the intention is, until a promoter tries to get round the rules, even though everyone knows what the position is and should be. They then manipulate the intention of that particular rule.
Before you know it, the breaking of rules becomes commonplace and the rule book eventually becomes an irrelevance.

You are absolutely correct that those clauses can be given to any employee.
It doesn't matter whether you're self employed or not.
It's perfectly within EU employment law for an employer to offer exclusivity rights.
Just to put one thing right, Pro Footballers ARE self employed signed to exclusivity contracts that have a start and end date.
Footballers pay managers / agents fees to negotiate contracts, sponsorship and image rights etc.
Speedway riders are in a no different position and maybe Poland are looking to becoming more of a professionally run business, set weekly wages and squad training sessions.
If any country could run Speedway on the Football model it would be Poland.
In terms of team Speedway it's every riders ambition to get a spot in the Ekstraliga, no different to Footballers looking to the Premier League or La Liga
I have no idea why you think pro-footballers are self-employed?

When do we call it an emergency...... Still no sign of Starman? Missing in action?
Surely you know paper boys are up early and out delivering...
I wonder if he has ripped his blue and white tassels off his bike this morning?
I also suspect that the picture of Lindback, which was lovingly put in to his back wheel last week, has been ripped out in disgust.
As Starry is a betting man he'll appreciate this...
When will Starry return to the BSF?
10/11 Today
5/2 Friday
4/1 Saturday
100-1 To do a Shovlar (I hear Syria is nice this time of year)

Just have to say the PK/Ellis call was just a disgrace. Not one Wolves around us fan backed Pk. They all said he overlocked and Ellis then Clegg laid it down. I havent seen any replays but for the life of me I still can't fathom how Ellis was excluded.
And in fifteen the ref was playing to the crowd. Shall I exclude him? Shall I not.......build up the tension......wait a little longer..... white light on big cheers.
Two poor calls imo.

Purchase of sour grapes for Starman, Shovlar and the rest of Dorset - £10
Cost of fireworks for the final - £250
Fix the showers in the away dressing room - £500
Watching Matt, Starman and Shovy's faces as they realise Poole's attempt to cheat their way to the title has failed miserably - PRICELESS.
Well done Wolves. May the best team win.

I am not saying you can't have it both ways.
I am simply saying in general from a common sense outlook is that you cannot say a World Champion deserves a lower average than a rider who is currently ranked 8th in the standings whose last average was a 5 for Belle Vue added to the fact he hasn't ridden on this shale in 10 years and people are harping on him being on a low average.
Scenario -
Jason DoylesAdrian Miedzinski rise has been quickly meteoric. If he had left the E.L for two years before he got to be a top rider on his 5.50 average he had attained and then Poole had signed him on that average whilst he was now worthy of9+8+ rider, would you not think that was crazy. That's why all averages need to be assessed if a rider leaves the country for a season or more.
Edited to reflect an actual scenario, which surprise surprise meant that ***** (I can't name the club for fear of reprisals from this clubs fans) benefitted massively.

Swindon 2017
in SGB Premiership Speedway League

Is that the same Grondal that's scored a 6 and 8 away from home so far this season?
I'd take that every day of the week from my reserve away from home.
