  1. I understood that Tony wanted genuine opinions rather than the sycophantic replies of Ian Martin, Richard Tyrell etc. Clearly I was wrong, but I fail to see the point of asking for opinion if in reality you only want to hear that the whole world thinks the mag is great. The magazine quality is excellent and the price is more than reasonable, I just felt the content may be lacking slightly due to its restricted era and in its current format the bottom of the barrell will soon be reached
  2. Not 100% sure on this (Kevin Meynell will know) but I think a rider represent the country of the body that issues his racing license in individual world championship events, when Ivan rode under the GB guise New Zealand were not represented at FIM level and came under the jurisdiction of our own ACU. For World Team Cup events a rider rides for the country that issues his passport.
  3. Each day this forum plumbs new depths of stupidity, it appears a few members are having a "who can come up with the most idiotic complaint" competition and some of the less intelligent posters have jumped on bandwagons, as they always do.
  4. Bad draw for us, we have to wait till heat 11 for a grid 1, by which time the Aussies have had 5. Denmark also have the advantage of the extra grid 1
  5. Agree entirely, in it's early days the mag was a superb read but quite simply, the subject matter has virtually been exhausted and to keep things going the likes of Preben Eriksen have to be featured. Opening up to the nineties I doubt as being an option just yet, 1995 is simply not "nostalgic" enough yet and the same faces, by and large, were around in the eighties. Have to agree about the Rod Haynes column, maybe as a one off it had merit but as an ongoing feature, no definately not Personnally I like the articles on defunct tracks and stadia and there is still mileage in that (sadly) I still buy it occassionally but the days of looking forward to the magazine have gone, I just buy it on an ad hoc basis now
  6. What exactly does 110% effort mean. In that context no % above 100 exists and so if you are using mythical figures why not give 1000 billion million trillion percent. Surely that would be giving their all and in that context 110% maybe means he will be giving no effort at all. Better to stick with real numbers and give 100% every time
  7. And now any legitimate criticism is lost in the sea of nonsensical ramblings like those above.
  8. You would be correct to refer to yourself as British but Northern Ireland is not part of Britain (great or otherwise) Despite the cobblers that snyper, or whatever his name is, posts it is entirely correct that the ACU representative side is referred to as Great Britain irrespective of where the participants do or do not come from. It is like suggesting if they all hail from Sheffield that the team should be called Yorkshire.
  9. Not very strong at all Jim because like most posts on here it is all made up nonsense. It is simply because the wheel has been off and Greg likes to check the chain tension after a practice start just to make sure the wheel has not slipped back a touch and overtightened the chain. It is unlikely to happen and in 99% of cases all the mechanic does is check the slack and re tension the wheel bolts. It is just part of Greg's routine, but its basis is in making sure the chain is OK rather than the advertising nonsense spouted above
  10. Never understood the notion of Hackney being a good racetrack. It always struck me as having only one decent line about a foot from the fence. Any rider with a thought of self preservation simply didn't go there leaving the brave (or foolish) riders to ride round them. That was the only way of passing at Hackney as I recall. The area on the outside of the fence was littered with deadly obstructions and a rider literally took his life in his hands attempting to pass at Hackney. Sadly a few paid the ultimate price round there and it would be nice if some sort of commerative plaque be housed in whatever is eventually built there honouring these men. There is such an arrangement at Meadowbank honouring Peter Craven and I believe the old Sydney Royale site has such a plaque
  11. Very very bad, coupled with a completely inadequate sound system and a choice of music that was straight from a kids mini disco I thought the pre match entertainment and general meeting presentation to be very poor this year.
  12. There isn't a problem, just one person arguing that black is white. The issue isnt open to debate or conjecture, it is simply fact. There is no issue of "seeing someones point of view" or "seeing where someone is coming from" etc, it is just a plain and simple carved in stone fact that I would be disappointed if my 6 year old couldn't grasp. Maybe one day Parsloes will get there
  13. How are your studies of geneology coming along by the way Parsloes, have you grasped the context of family generations yet, and that for two or more people to be 1st, 2nd & 3rd generations they have to be related, not just neighbours or work colleagues etc, in fact work colleagues is quite apt isn't it in the case of Neil Street & Phil Crump.
  14. Have you ever heard of the saying "when you are in a hole, stop digging"
  15. You have to be on a wind up on this, it is not a matter of opinion to agree with or disagree with, it is just fact. Neil Street, Phil Crump & Jason Crump are not 3 generations of the same family, never have been never will be and absolutely no matter how much crap you spout on the subject never will be.
  16. It won't cover costs because it stops people going in and spending, I and many others dont bother with it. Would you pay to go into ASDA, they have massive costs to pay, maybe they should implement £5.00 door charge
  17. Neil Street and Jason Crump are first and third generation Streets. Phil and Jason Crump are first and second generation Crumps. In no context is Neil Street any generation of"Crump" and equally Phil can't qualify any generation of "Street"
  18. You are correct. In it's true context to be three generations each must have a blood relationship with the other two, Phil Crump is not related to Neil Street. Take Jason out of the equation and ask would you consider Phil & Neil as 2 generations of the same family Substitute Carol Street for Phil Crump and you have your three generations, not sure she ever raced against anyone though!!!!!!
