Have a look at Ostrow - what happened there and how. Ask Bjerre why he missed some of the meetings in Gdansk. Ask Richardson why he left Czestochowa. Ask Nicholls about his money in Wroclaw. Finally, ask PZM how many clubs got their 2010 license straight ahead. Then you will find out if the statement below is true...

Just a few days ago I saw an interview with someone from BSI or FIM mentioning that 2011 could possibly start with March GP meetings in Australia and New Zealand. Actually, similar stories are heared all around every year or two but I was wondering if you see any chance of getting that pushed through. If so - where would that be held? Sydney? Melbourne? Wellington? Somewhere else?

Hmmm... considering Polish clubs where Gollob rode.... we get Bydgoszcz and Tarnow. Both of them experienced financial turmoil while he was there. In both cases he had to wait for his money and those were quite large sums. Once Gollob left both clubs raised from ashes within a year or two and managed to get things organized. Still, Gollob is a real team leader and is worth good money. Yes, Polish found a way to stay in business. Just like Bydgoszcz did in 2002 or 2003. The sinking club was demised and new club was founded instead. That apparently resulted in having all the debts waived. Slight change in the name and all debts are gone. This is how many Polish clubs stayed in business when the turmoil occurred. So typical...

Given Gollob's efficiency in Polish league, he is worth that money. It's not only about how he scores but also how he cooperates with the rest of the team and how assists other riders. Nicki and Jason never do that at least in Poland.
-
The only rule they have in there these days is that at least three riders in one match need to have Polish licenses. That leaves 4 spots for foreigners. The other rule is that a team can have maximum 2 GP riders in one meeting.

Who Can Be World Champion 2010 ?
Dexter replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Which injury is that? The one sustained before last two GP-s? -
Well done Justin and Sam. Looks like Australia has some youngsters to replace Crump, Adams and Sullivan. Holder is already there and now Ward is chasing. Let's hope Sedgman and Masters are going to progress regularly. BTW isn't Masters a Kiwi?
-
Nice going Chris H... I am surprised though that Batchelor lost it. He had so much comfort with 4 points ahead. He only needed to get into the final. Holder said before the meeting that Newcastle is his favorite track and that seems to have helped him. Still congrats to Troy for outstanding performance in Aussie Champs this year. Bronze for Ward and in my opinion disappointment for Schlein. What happened to Lemon? I noticed he didn't ride. BTW sportowefakty.pl again did 'live transmission' based on Sue's updates. However, this time they gave her credit in two places. źródło: speedwayupdates.co.uk (source: speedwayupdates.co.uk) in the news on the main page and then also on the page with updates. Looks like it was worth bringing it up.

It has been fading away for a few years... I remember there were meetings at Kwinana or Bibra Lake and from what I heard, both tracks closed down a few years ago.

Magnus Zetterstrom In Gp Series
Dexter replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We had a few guys like him before whose place among the tops was somehow unexpected... Jirout, Chrzanowski, Ferjan (much younger than him though) who ended up poorly or John Jorgensen and Tony Kasper who actually did pretty good job in a few meetings. -
Who Can Be World Champion 2010 ?
Dexter replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If you look at the race-off between Szczakiel and Mauger, you will see that Szczakiel got an evident rolling start. Undoubtly, the referee helped him beat Mauger. But then on the other hand, Szczakiel scored 13 in the regular races and beat Mauger in heat 8 as well. Apparently Poles are known of bending rules in any matter but Szczakiel still had to ride his 6 races and take advantage of all the cricumstances around him. Besides, Szczakiel wasn't a newbie at that time. He managed to beat all the world top riders two years prior to that final in Chorzow together with Wyglenda in World Pairs Final (I think it was in Wroclaw). I think it was typical for Poland at that time. There was a favourite and all the efforts to get a world champ was directed towards him. But then Szczakiel's career ended because of serious crash with Jarmula during a league meeting and not authorities' actions. Apparently, you can place blames on the authorities for disappearance of Szczakiel after 1973 as he never got into world final again... Even bigger shame that these who repeat today are usually Polish... especially extreme Gollob fans proving in thousand ways that Szczakiel's victory was just lucky. -
Country To Win World Cup?
Dexter replied to WolvesAndy's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Danes should win this. They tripped in 2009 but it will not happen again this year. Nicki should be the leader with Hans, Kenneth and Niels or Bjarne providing support. Poles should still get one of the medals. Aussies are getting weaker in my opinion. However, if Batchelor rides the whole season like this year's Aussie Champs they may be able to get silver. -
1. To attract more visitors to their website 2. To save money on getting text messages sent from Mildura (if they have anyone in there) Looks pretty lame to me as well...

Hi Sue, No probs, just send it to me (I am bilingual English and Polish) and I will give you a hand with sorting it out. Damian Gapinski is the guy to talk to in this case. And no, it is not too 'eek'. There is press law which clearly states about putting source of information if it is not your own. It works in Poland too, just nobody cares about it.

źródło: inf. własna (source: own information) - that's what Sportowe Fakty put as a source of information. So they didn't give you credit after all.

Looks like one of the Polish websites also has someone who is attending that meeting. http://www.sportowefakty.pl/zuzel/2010/01/...tralii-na-zywo/

Dave... By 'grew up' I meant he made his first steps in professional speedway in SA (from what I can remember at least). That's why I am expecting him to be a difficult opponent in Gillman.

Leszno Gp - 24th April 2010
Dexter replied to GregM's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
This should shed more light on Leszno... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leszno and this too http://lang.leszno.pl/index.php?lang=en and this http://www.city-travel-guide.co.uk/travel-...avel-guide.html My suggestion is to stay in Poznan or Wroclaw (not sure which one is closer). Locals (if there are such ones on this forum) should be able to provide more accurate advice. -
Who Can Be World Champion 2010 ?
Dexter replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
There is a bit of fresh blood in GP - Sayfutdinov, Holder, Woffinden but I don't think it's their time yet. I still see Nicki and Jason battling for first two places and Greg with Tomasz battling for bronze medal. Holder needs to get more control over his bike while on the track. He often gets in trouble (e.g. Elite League Pair Championship) and it is easy to loose a few points like that. I think that Sayfutdinov will finish in Top 8 again but not necessarily in Top 3. His first season was amazing and the guy is a great talent but he needs a bit more experience before he can push the old guys down. Woffinden has been rewarded by BSI and may show a few good rides. -
Personally, I think that Schlein will be Holder's biggest rival, especially in Gillman. Rory grew up in SA and won quite a few meetings in there. I wouldn't be surprised if he managed to beat Chris in that first round. Batchelor and Ward should battle for 3-rd place with possible distractions from Woodward and Lemon.
-
Any chance it will be run again? centralcoastspeedway.com and ausm.info show only one more meeting in Gosford on the 27-th Feb.
-
May thanks for the updates So... 1. Robert Ksiezak 2. Justin Sedgmen 3. Josh Grajczonek 4. Alex Davies 5. Josh Auty 6. Joe Haines R1. Joe Haines R2. Dakota North These guys advance to the final series. I am so happy to see Sedgmen going ahead. The kid made a lot of progress this year and should soon follow Ward in better results among Aussie youngsters. Crazysue - I love the text in read on the top of the website. But don't worry - Polish websites will just put 'British forum' as source of information and you will not prove them they copied from you.

Again a few good names are missing. Looks like Chris Holder will grab another title. Anyone who could possibly stop him is not competing.

Not much speedway in Gosford these days

Polish Final Sat 25th July Line-up
Dexter replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
I would say there are a few more good riders who failed to get to the final: Dobrucki Zengota Ulamek Chrzanowski Kosciecha Since the event is held in Torun I would indicate Jagus and Miedzinski to be favourites. Apparently Protasiewicz will have a lot to say and so will Gollob.
