Track poor and pretty much no racing.Far too many engine problems for a world final.....but i guess we should be happy the meeting is on and so far nobody has been injured.I do wonder with all the faffing about holding a long parade and now all these stoppages with the bad forecast that was on sportowefaktly before the meeting saying the weather would get worse as the evening went on...Fingers crossed for Robert And a tip on how to pronounce Fienhage.....it isn't Finhadje https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRyz2CKWBFs -
From memory it wasn't just anyone out there putting the sawdust down, but Maido himself pulling the bags out of the tractor and spreading it around.Got to take my hat off to him for that

Not picking a fight at all.Just telling the truth and i think Jesper might have seen enough Dutch cars and caravans travelling through Germany in the summer Unfortunatelly for me and others in Hamburg,we live on the gateway to the north and south. All the Danes coming through Hamburg to get to the south of Germany,Austria and Italy, possibly even the Netherlands.Even get the odd Swede and this week a group of bikers from Norway. Then all those from the Netherlands and south, middle Germany travelling up to the coast of Germany and Denmark.Bad enugh at the best of times in the summer, but one silly mistake by a lorry or car and that is it.Stand still........ for the last couple of years while they build this roof on the motorway through Hamburg Todays news, apart from the visit of William and Kate to Hamburg... http://www.ndr.de/nachrichten/schleswig-holstein/Im-Schritttempo-in-die-Sommerferien,autobahn1744.html -
Yes and that is a sad situation. But totally different to Wimbledon, which this thread is about

Tell me about it.Every day i go on the motorway to and from work and a couple of weeks back it took over 4,5 hours to do the journey which should take about 35 minutes!!! grrr.F*****g tourists from the Netherlands with their caravans etc partly to blame -
But there is absolutely no chance of giving thr Wimbledon track 'another go' as you put it.None.Probably more chance of getting a track in the High Beech area, which i am making a complete guess at,isn't as well built up as the area where Wimbledon raced

Was it as good as German beer though? Although i would guess through the Austro-Hungarian empire it probably has similar traditions as Czech etc but you don't get Hungarian beer in the supermarket here.Talking of supermarket,if you go to Aldi you can actually get very cheap German beer.Dirt cheap. -
Each to their own,but i just don't understand why? What is the point of just keeping the name in the public eye.Not really even doing that as most of the public aren't interested in speedway and if someone outthere hasn't followed speedway for years and is attracted by the name Wimbledon they are going to be disappointed and maybe even ripped off.Wimbledon doesn't exist any more and for the vast majority of the time it did exist it didn't put riders out at this level It is about as relevant as getting some non league football players together and putting on a game between Belfast Celtic and Thames Ironworks.Great names from the past but the clubs died a long time ago.At least years back they put on meetings between ex-West Ham or ex-Wembley and the riders generally had some connection with those clubs. The only connection these riders have with Wimbledon is they might have watched the tennis on tv....
-
What actually is it?Do they have 12 riders from each country that hosts a GP turn up for a morning of coaching or is it the same 12 riders that go to each GP and get a morning/day of coaching?
-
Each to their own,but i find these made up teams a bit of a joke.Let the Dons rest in peace instead of pretending a Wimbledon side is taking to the track.Might just as well call them New Cross or High Beech imo. This is the strange side of speedway........

What i condone is if you pay a lot of money in wages to someone then you expect the required level of support back.It happens in all jobs.If you pay good money you expect a good job.Now Poland try to run professionally and pay for that. That means turning up for training and also for off track promotion. If you pay good money you don't want someone turning up knackered because he has been racing in 3 other countries during the week and sleeping at airports or on the road I don't think there is any employer that accepts people turning up and doing a poor job because they have been working elsewhere. And i don't think the EU have any law that allows someone to work for lots of different employers under the conditions that speedway riders do.It just isn't healthy in a dangerous sport right from the start the sort of itinery they have or did have with 80 + meetings in a season Plus it is just blooming unfair on fans who pay good money and see riders come in and ride half hearted or under form because they have had too much on their plate over the last weeks and months..... -

Wasn't it always the way when clubs have been claiming a rider is their asset just because they have ridden a handful of meetings, even though they already had one or two clubs in other countries that they have ridden a few seasons for?Is that not rather crazy and probably illegal, though nobody really took it further? -

But i think this is what the FIM want(ed) because of their effort to start up the Champions League. It makes it easier if riders are riding for just a few teams instead of riding all over the place. That is the feeling i got from the FIM.But now what has happened to their idea anyway?Seems to have gone down the swanny.Last seasons was called off at the last minute and this seasons mooted meeting in the middle east etc has also been forgotten I doubt the FIM will do anything to stop the restriction and who in the sport is going to take it to the EU?Probably nobody from the UK or it might just bust their 'asset' system....
