  1. Thats the whole point of my post people will want some kind of leasure but now they cant have it all they have to chose one or two and that is why speedway attendances are falling people are choosing another. Also i said in my post increased costs not inc riders wages. The same as my household bills go up every year but my wage does not hence less to spend on leasure. Look at the state of a lot of clubs most are close to going to the wall i don't think many are making much profit so any price increase will be needed just to keep them up and running. If we want speedway to survive we will like anything else (if we want it) just have to pay what it costs or like many others just walk away. The truth is speedway in this country is in big trouble full stop the sport has a high running cost but not enougth supporters to cover these costs. Sad days ahead for many clubs i fear. Just a point i stated as everything goes up every year the riders costs to ride will go up every year so if the riders ride for the same money as last season will they not be riding for a smaller wage this comming season ?. Promoters would love to charge £10 just like pub landlords would love to charge £1 a pint but the overheads will not let them both speedway clubs and pubs are going to the wall full stop.
  2. When i started going to speedway in 1972 the adult price for speedway was 30p.It would seem that speedway has had a few price increases over the years like everything else yet every year on here there is a big fuss about it.Costs rise every year for all businesses(not inc riders wages whos running cost will increase every year) and that rise has to be passed on to the customers if it is to keep going its sadly the way of the world. Re the attendance problem i at one time supported the aces and for my sins oldham ath but due to costs i had to give one up i chose to stick with the aces it would seem most in my position chose football/another and that in a nut shell explains now why speedway attendences are so low these days.At one time i could go to football, speedway, cinema and have a good few nights down the pub but now i have to choose one and one night in the pub sad times leasure costs so much these days.
  3. You are still a young man and in my opinion if you want to watch speedway for a long time then you will have to get your head around the fact that developing our own riders is possibly the only way the sport in this country can hope to have a long term future. If the problems at Plymouth B/vue,Coventry,Leicester and Workington in one season do not give you a clue as to what trouble our sport is in nothing will.
  4. Whoever is to blame for this if it is the end what a shameful way for a club with a great history like Coventry to go.The end should have been a massive farewell meeting giving the fans a chance to say goodbye. No way should a club have an end like this totally shameful by all concerned with no consideration for the fans what so ever. I hope this post is a waste of my time and all partys can come to an agreement to run in 2017.
  5. Its hard being a B/vue fan at the momment but there is so much b/s and differing statements flying around at Coventry it must be driving the loyal bees fans mad.I just hope that one way or the other a final outcome arrives soon.Truly gutted for you all i really hope that there is a good outcome for you all the very best of luck.
  6. Its either weaken the league or watch a lot of clubs go bust i know which i would prefer. It was Swindons own fault that they have what looks like a poor team because they wanted to sign a maga star. You could have kept Tungate ,Grajczonic and Morris if you had gone the other way. eg Tungate Morris Grajczonic Ellis Sedgmen Nielsen Wajknecht Much better way to go imo.
  7. Yes but remember we had to use r/r for our in form injured no 2 K Bjerre no replacement allowed back then. Not saying we would have won it but in my opinion it would have been much closer. As we did finish top of the league with a team that had a top number one (Crump 9.89 ave) that year and if i remember it right did you not have a top of his game S Nicholls(9.25 ave) as your no 1.Plus B/vues res final combined ave were 9.47 and Covs 9.56 so no difference really. So seeing as both teams had a top number 1 and good reserves i cant' see your point.
  8. Well he was later on in the season at Wolves.
  9. If thats the case from your team will be post a few days ago i hope Richie has a change of heart and we sign Hougaard instead makes for a stronger team imo.
  10. What will happen if Belle vue do not run in 2017.------- I will just have to watch speedway on the telly.
  11. My conversion makes Gomolski's last 2015 Elite league average which was 5.51 = 7.71. So sadly would not fit in the team mentioned above.
  12. New promoters perhaps new/more sponsors,New deal with the council and a clean slate,(i would think that any new promoter would not take the club on if any of the present dept was to be passed on)No back dated depts through running at a loss at the dog hole.Going off last years ave crowds prob one of the better supported clubs. So who knows who is or whos not affordable we will all just have to wait and see.
  13. Which ever way you look at it both signings were wrong. Strengthening a team so near to the play off imo is wrong and i am glad to say the BSPA agree with me and have put a stop to it this year.
  14. Tiny budget do you think there would be that much diference in NKI,s wage and Holders.
  15. Best i can come up with King Kylmakorpi Bjerre Garrity Schlein Bates 2 pointer 49.88
  16. Would be happy with that team bar Richie.Would love for him to be in the team but i think Hougaard would be a better choice both assets if that still applys no loan fees etc. With Hougaard in this league the team would have 3 heatleaders with Richie the team would have 3 2nd strings and they both fit(with Toft,Auty,Berge,L Bjere).I know its all guess work But just looking at this team i think we would have more success with Hougaard in the team and a winning team brings in the crowds and thats what the club needs to keep going.
  17. Neither can i really just passing the winter months away to see who could fit and see if i could put a reasonable team together with Holder in it etc. Sad to say that your team to my reconing is 1.41 over so we cant have them all Steve and Richie last years second string and reserve have high prem league averages so its hard to form a decent team that inc them both.I would rather have Hougaard and a 7 pointer than Richie and a 7 pointer.ie Auty.L Bjerre.Berge etc.
  18. Zagar/Fricke Cook Hougaard Batchelor Schlein Bewley Smith - Holder Cook Hougaard Batchelor/Schlein Jacobs Bewley Smith
  19. Fricke Cook Hougaard S Worrall Auty/Toft Bewley Smith
  20. Cook the Worrells Fricke/Hougaard Bewley poss Jacobs would be most Belle vues fans team of choice not a make do cheap team.
  21. Was Carswell ever named as a promoter of Belle vue or did he just put money into the club.?
  22. I have my opinions as we all do but the truth is no one will ever find out what really happened. The council and the BSPA/new promoter will or will not be able to reach a new deal who knows only time will tell.We will all just have to wait and see.
  23. This is my worry to i posted the same thought on another thread.I just hope that if the BSPA want speedway to continue at Belle vue they have someone or a new promoter in place getting a competitive team together for next year.Because as you say if the same thing happens as it did in 2007 when the new promoters took over late and we had a very poor team of left over riders that other teams did not want then we are in big trouble. The die hard fans will still stand behind the club if they field a very poor team as they did in 2007 but the new /returning fans i would think will not so the gates will fall in a big way.So a poor team will lead to poor crowds and without good crowds to bring in the money any new promoter will need to make a go of the club will not be there. A poor team will leave Belle vues future looking very bleak.
