  1. Regardless what spin people try to put on it, it was the dynamic return of form of a struggling reserve that cost us the loss of 2 points, and gave Edinburgh a draw.
  2. George talked to me about signing Josh after our NJL meeting at Glasgow on the 8th April. From that showing, obviously Glasgow remembered his performance so that was why they got him to Guest for them. The first product of the school was actually Liam Carr, but with the NJL team currently made up of riders who all started at the training school, I certainly hope the progress continues. Archie will be next.
  3. OOOPS. Didn't expect the Clegg effect. Well done Max. No, George talked to me then Josh a couple of weeks ago about signing. Ask him.
  4. I was talking generally, not just last night. In the recent past we have won and had a draw at Peterborough.
  5. Weather report for those fans above the Border coming down to Newcastle today. It's slightly overcast at the moment, but the sun is just about to start to peek out and be out for the rest of the day. Little chance of rain, with maybe a spot in the afternoon, and the temperature is forecast to be 15 to 16 degrees. So a nice day for a day out, and to see a good meeting between old foes the Diamonds versus the Monarchs. We tend to win up there, and they tend to win tour place, but I think we will win this one to deny them a point. See you there.
  6. Not an attempt to gloat as you put it, just a reminder that we were the visitors last year when Ged sacked 2 riders mid meeting. I am sure you remember that. A good team manager chooses the best available riders for a guest within the rules. Shanes was NOT a ringer and has been used as a guest by others before this meeting. Could have chose Hopwood, but there could easily be a perfect good reason why he was registered for today instead of yesterday. That's what good Team Managers do.
  7. Pleased with that result, and with a labouring Ludde. Always strange to see a team that is so good on a tight technical track, can also score well and win on a great fast speedway with massive bends. Any riders sacked yet and has the new team been announced yet.
  8. Quite agree, Bewley is the one exception in all the list of riders mention in this thread that wasn't a BYC product. The rest have progressed thought the BYC that Neil controls, and controls very well. speedibee has his own problem as his lad is an older rider and Neil tried to make common rule for all Junior leagues such as the MDL and the NJL which I have a young team in. Neil wanted to have each team to have 2 500's and 2 125's in each team such as our NJL. This brings in youngsters earlier, and the new bunch of riders coming though the under 15 age are generally developed by that team structure. The MDL with speedibee's son, wanted to ride with 4 500s to make sure they got the rides. All about looking after his lad not rider development.
  9. Got to know Bob when he was the announcer at Newport. Very personable and friendly. At one visit he asked me over the tannoy if I had enjoyed the 3-2 TOON win against Barcelona the previous Monday night. How did he find that out and we had a good laugh over him knowing my movements. Very sad, RIP BOB.
  10. Update on Danny's girlfriend Keeley's FaceBook page tonight. The femur was broken in three places and the op was very successful. His back was broken in two places. He is very upbeat and looking forward to his future in speedway. Very positive attitude.
  11. Possibly because of the conditions he is demanding if he accepts the invitation. Tai does not make the rules.
  12. With both reserves on 2's we can use them in either combination. Sometime riding them in different combination home and away gives you some opportunities.
  13. Many Elite sports have a similar situation with Ice Hockey and Basketball, etc.
  14. Apparently Danny has had his femur operation, and it has all gone well. They are currently deciding whether to operate on the broken disc in his back, so they might let it heal naturally in place. Would be a positive solution without the trauma of an operation. Looking to transport him to a hospital nearer his home in Teesside.
  15. The Pieman would be very relevant, i agree.
  16. Not sure of the dates or the performance but he did guest last year, and whilst he guested the year previous he got his footpeg caught under the kickboard coming off the second bend and retired injured from the meeting. He's a gutsy rider and, as you correctly imply, we have a habit of turning someones fortunes around like Pepe, Lemon, Lindgren, Schramm, Mills, Tero and Morris(lot more to come from Ash IMO). Let's get behind the lad, who will give his best and not let us down. He has a chance of a long term signing with us just for a change, and i know he will be on top equipment like normal. Interested as to what nickname Roy has got for him. Any suggestions ?
  17. Just checking as he has been to so many clubs I thought he must of had one sometime. Best around I believe, and it has now been announced by our promotion. Think he is more of a bigger track rider and he has had several meetings around Brough.
  18. Ben Hopwood 5.83 NL against Danny Phillips 6.25 NL Has Ben ever had a PL(Championship) average ?
  19. Aye, but you never contributed by paying to get in either. Another freeloader all his speedway life.
  20. I see 'confused of Manchester' is still at it. One minute he is trying to decry the efforts asking when was the last time we produced a GP winner, and now saying he just wants to see Brits in his team. By his own admissions on here, he never used to pay to get into BV in the days of the Speedway Mail, and has repeatedly said he wouldn't go and watch speedway now even if they gave him a free lifelong pass. Move on.
  21. We already have the poultec training scheme for young riders when they have assistance and training in fitness, life style, riding, mechanics and media. Some are already attached to a club and that youth system does not cause any problems in terms of assets. In addition Team GB receives training prior to events such as the World Cup and that doesn't cause any resentment towards individual promotions. At the end the end it is the BSPA that puts this sort of assistance/training into place by voting on it.
  22. There's always one isn't there.
