  1. I was going to 'like' this till the last 6 words. It was more a case of him keeping the wrong company, as history has proved. I liked Rick and Julie and they gave a lot to Peterborough, even if it was tax offloading, it doesn't matter.
  2. At Newcastle the main sponsors banners are all on the 4th bend for the reasons you state.
  3. He did do that, until heat 15 , when it was obvious he was going to sit it out. Bike being warmed through both two minutes and the gap in between, and never attempted to put a helmet, goggles or gloves on. Incidently, I would take exception with Matt W, saying in the SS Worky column that the Diamonds fans cheered when both Cook and Tomas, not just Cook, crashed in the first bend tussle in heat 15. For a little while we didn't know who had crashed, as the way Thomas went in and went straight on( it was difficult to see because of the flying shale) we thought it was Ludde who was in between Tomas and Cook. He must have just missed Ludde, and then hit his own man and bent both bikes. Given that, and all 4 back, why would we cheer when the crash happened. Mind you, when Cook was excluded both times we did cheer with gusto. Why not, be rude not to.
  4. I know it can be increased because you can have delayed concussion, which could go over the 9 days limit. Not sure about less, but I would have thought that a very experienced Doctor examining a patient could pass him fit, but only after a physical examination. A Doctor wouldn't falsely sign him fit because of the consequences, if the rider had another crash soon after and the Doctor then would come under scrutiny.
  5. Reading the comments on the Worky site this morning, it appears that the bike being warmed up WAS Cook's spare bike. which makes it even more puzzling as it looked warm enough to be able to be ridden. I am thinking that because how much warming up does a second bike take when the first fails, and the rider warms it up on the way to the tapes. I could see what was happening, and despite the bike being warmed up through the full double 2 minutes, plus the gap in-between, Craig made no attempt to prepare himself, not trying on his helmet, gloves and goggles. It was as if he had decided he was not going out. Further to that, the site also stated the Jorgenson was whisked out after he had hammered his seat bracket straight and had virtually no time. I am sure he was given a good amount of time and came out with the Diamonds in a timely manner, just leaving Craig in his own in the pits. I laughed at the suggestion that 'a Newcastle Official" had rang the referee to say they were all ready to go, so he put the 2 minutes. Wonder who that was , if in fact it was true, unless they though Craig would put his helmet on and then he didn't. If you are planning on decorating this weekend, and haven't bought the stuff yet, try Workington Speedway. They seem to have stacks of whitewash available.
  6. Good to hear. I thought he had something special when I saw him last year.
  7. It's what young people do these days. You must remember when you did when you were young Carl.
  8. So why was Cookie outraged about being timed out on 2 minutes, when he made no attempt to prepare to ride, no helmet or gloves, whilst a bike was spinning away being warmed up. Something else must have happened, but he didn't look like his wrist was damaged despite him holding it walking off the track. Strange. Never expected to win tonight and certainly not enough to overtake the lead that Worky had. Cometh the moment cometh the men, every Diamond gave their all with good performances, with the exception of Dan Greenwood who was as bad tonight as he was the last time he rode for us. Pity about the delays, but if a hole appears unexpectedly it has to be repaired to the refs and riders satisfaction. If it takes half an hour, so be it, if we wanted the meeting to go to a conclusion. Man of the night - Roy Clarke
  9. Very high up officials from Newcastle at the Heaton Music Festival where we had a stand yesterday.
  10. Born in South Africa, brought up in Rhodesia and played for Zimbabwean.
  11. The good news I hear is that Ludde has binned the GTR's so he's back to GM's I presume. Let's hope it improves his scoring as we need his points. plus a few more from Ashley riding against his previous track and Lewis. Still think it could be tight but only if we get the needed improvement in scoring from the above three.
  12. Quite agree. The usual arch complainers like iris and HA would be the first complain if Schlein had won the British title/wildcard but when an investigative journalist does it before them they then criticise it as 'should have better things to do'. Same could be said of them then. Some folks only exist to moan to satisfy their own egos.
  13. But it is highly unlikely to run a league of 18 teams. 16 was voted as the most the PL could be by the PL promoters in the early 00's. That was because of KO Cup and League Cup meetings plus the 15 H and A were consider the most a team could fit in with rainoffs, etc. A number of EL teams at the time were hinting at dropping down, so the PL decision stopped that unless it was one for one which did happen.
  14. A bit late. It was mentioned and discussed when the fixtures first came out early in the season.
  15. Sheffield and the IOW used to be considered a long way as well.
  16. You are right that the tracks are entirely different. The bends are tight, like the Kirky Road track, but unlike long standing stupid rumours, the track is relatively smooth and has been for years. It is produced with dirt on, and that gives it drive and having to lock up tight to turn and return up the straights. The new BV looks relatively easy to ride with wider track and many different racing lines. Higher gearing for speed at BV and a smoother ride, as opposed to lower gearing with a more responsive engine. Not really. Resting an injury is part of a recover process for any athlete/sportsman.
