Nominations 2011
mothorsen replied to ladyluck's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Taking picks based on nationality is, was and always will be bollocks. To have a mediocre rider in the mix, while a far better sits on the fence is just wrong. And basing it on nationality, should't Germany, Finland, Italy or the Ukranie get one in? Not good enough? well I can think of one ridre proving lack of skill this year, but is up for a wild card based on nationality. Let the best riders compete, regardless of nationality. -

Nominations 2011

Ah... Once again I misunderstand. I thought you ment this season. So to sum up: He should't have even been in this year, concidering last seasons results, or the fact that he's always pulled through on a wild card. Well, finally he is in the top eight, and is probably going through on his own machine. -

"Should not have been there"? If Harris fought and got in the top eight, he surely deserves it? I'm a Holta supporter, and I've been happy as hell when he found his form at the end of the season, barely clinging on. This year I'm ecstatic! -

Unfair if so. Even Zetterström deserves it more. Otherwise I tend to agree with T.N.T.s list. Harris getting the wild card year after year, but one bad season for AJ or Andersen, and it's out? -
Norwegian Team Championship
mothorsen replied to mothorsen's topic in International World of Speedway
My best answer would be "I don't know"... Trying to get a grip of norwegian speedway isn't easy being just a spectator. There are only updates when things go well on the websites, like the Elgane question. There is nothing to find, so we just asume. As for Sola and Raugstad, I really don't know. They pop up at the individual and pairs, and Raugstad has participated in a few league matches, but other than that I just don't know. They seem to keep it for them selves, and since I don't know any pesonaly, I bet I'll just have to wonder why, not being an investigative reporter myself -

A strange topic indeed. Should one ride in the UK, Sweden, Denmark and Poland to deserve to ride in the World Championship? Of course not. Is one crowned world champion being the overall best rider in 11 GP rounds, regardless of nationality and clubs? Of course. Captain Obvious thank you for your attention.

Nordic Grand Prix
mothorsen replied to ladyluck's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Gratulations to Gollob. Two spot-free GP's in one season? Hats off. A bit disapointed by Holta, but cross my fingers for the last two rounds. Ops... Didn't see all heats, as the swedish re-run is edited. So Holta took one in the knee? Less disapointed, but still keppin' them fingers crossed. -

Hehe, I get the point. I enjoy this forum, 'cause it's alive and breathing, as opposed to others I've tried. Oh, and my former stepdad is from Huddersfield, and that's got to count for something? -

mothorsen replied to ladyluck's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
The weather forecast wasn't exactly uplifting Let's hope it's not too bad... That being said, this must be one of the most exiting final stages of the competition, with so many fighting for both medals and top eight. It might be a longshot, but I hope Holta and Bjerre can get even closer to the top three, and Harris keeping himself over the line. We've discussed it before, and nothing would be better than he advancing to next year without a wild card. That card doesn't seem so wild after a while And on a final note: How many of the posts in this thread actually is about the round in Vojens? Rename it to the "Sky red button with hints of Nordic Grand Prix" thread. Seriously, why isn't there an own thread about this topic? I'd start one, had this been a problem for me, but beeing a Norwegian, I either see it at the pub or on my computer. -

I'll bet Holta won't let last rounds mediocre performance repeat itself, Crump is eying more than a bronze to hang around his neck, and the two poles in lead will not back down either. Harris, AJ, Holder and all the others fighting it out for top 8 will do their best to keep us entertained, I'm sure. Thank Rod it's close between the riders, and anything could still happen. Looking forward to this one:) And please discus the dreadded RED BUTTON in another link or even forum. Let's get the opinions on the actual race here. -
The Semis And Final In A Gp
mothorsen replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Personally I think the GP format is great. 11 championships to determine an overall winner, instead of deciding everything on one night. As far as the semis and final goes, I think it provides exitement to each race, even though you can win on less points. A fluke winner will never win the overall championship, but if he makes it for one night, I think that's great. Anyway, I like it how it is, and you don't. However, they should bring back world pairs... -
Sgp Challenge Final
mothorsen replied to ladyluck's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hmmm. How can THJ and Walasek both get two points in heat 7? I remember it was a close race, but THJ was first over the line, wich sends Walasek down to 3 poins all together. -
From Riskas homepage: Riska MSK´s Rune Sola og Carl Johan Raugstad ble som ventet Norges beste i par kjøring på Elgane i kveld. Det er litt tragisk at et norgesmesterskap skal bestå av lokale kjørere. Stein Roar Pedersen vant NM for par for ca. 25 år siden! Hvor ble f.eks. de flinke Gunnestad brødrene av? Dette er en litt trist utvikling. Følgende resultater (usikkre) fra kveldens stevne. Plassering Navn Klubb Poeng 1 Sola/Raugstad Riska MSK 28 2 Bjerk / Bjerk Elgane MK 26 3 Skretting/Ueland Elgane MK 21 4 Solberg/ ? NMK Kristiandsand 19 5 Olsen/ Haaland Riska MSK 11 6 Lea/Pedersen Riska MSK 10 7 Skjæveland/Thu Riska MSK 10 In English it says it's tragic that a national championship contains almost only local riders. Stein Roar Pedersen was pairs champion 25 years ago! Where are the Gunnestad brothers? This is a sad development. Following results (unsure) from the meeting above. I can only agree. It seems pointless to have a National Championship when the nations best riders won't attend, leaving it to veterans. That said, Rune Sola, Carl J. Raugstad and Mikke Bjerk are all good, but where are representatives from Drammen or Oslo? Reading from the results, only one rider came from Kristiansand, and still managed 4th? Gratulations to the medalists.

mothorsen replied to ladyluck's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Lots of riders to root for, but I've allways liked Lindbäck, and hope he'll make it through. Kolodziej is a rider I'd like to see in the GP aswell, and THJ did a fine race in Målilla. As for the debate concerning Harris, I hope he'll get through either tonight og as a top eight rider. Being handed a spot year after year seems a bit unfair, but the loss of a British rider in the GP's seems to me unlikely. Looking forward to the meeting tonight, and I'm sure it'll be a thriller. -

Australisian Gps Next Year?
mothorsen replied to Carrie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Some kind of international meeting in Australia/New Zealand would have been great. Doing it off the European season and maybe bring back world pairs championship?
