HOPE it does as we pay first class mail rate... THANKS
-
CANNOT resist can you?
-
IT wasn't vanity but a regeneration project for a particularly area that included more than a speedway facility
-
Not many because SS would exist!
-
THE bumper edition costs almost three times as much as a normal edition to produce when you include additional postal charges for subs, etc/
-
ALL of the above
-
BEEN beating that drum for a long time, including several times in 2016.

YES we have done some research and as usual come up with a wide variety of answers. What we do know: the vast majority want a printed version over a digital one, which probably reflects the age demographic of our readership and speedway's attendees, match reports are vital, club news gets a mixed reaction but generally in favour despite the internet. Of course we are looking to the future but by-and-large our feeling is that we are providing what most people want. PROBABLY in the same place as British speedway. Our respective fortunes are tied together. HOW can you ever tell what the majority want. It's like opinion polls ... Brexit, Trump, etc HANDS up, it was a big mistake, one our long-time Ipswich reporter Elvin King has owned up to although it should have been spotted.

I DIDN'T point the figure at anyone in particular. Your questions got lost somewhere. What were they?
-
SADLY typical of this forum at times ... what has this got to do with Speedway Star?
-
VERY true. We are still treading on thin ice regarding BV in particular and have, in fact, uncovered quite a web on contrasting standpoints and opinions and interpretation of what has actually occurred but once the time is right and without crossing some legal borders we will do our best to explain as much as we can.

A LOT has happened in a few years and Speedway Star's current circulation reflects the attendances at British speedway which have diminished greatly in recent years. So, a lot less than 18,000 sadly. We have also been badly hit by track sales ... haphazard fixtures, a meeting one week, not the next one or two, often results in punters getting out of the habit of attending speedway and subsequently not buying SS. Some make the effort to buy it elsewhere but many don't and are lost to the sport and us. We have no control over that. Not sure why you have included VAT in your speculative figures. No VAT on magazines. We receive approximately .56% of the cover price whichever way SS is sold. So, £1.62 from newsagents and around the same from sub copies after the deduction of postage or commission to Apple, etc. And I must admit that I didn't realise that people sending letters to the Oldie prefix them with "I've been watching speedway since the 19xx."

PETER Oakes's new feature is a great read and a fabulous addition to SS ... Peter, as befits a top journalist with his track record, has a terrific eye for a story. Thanks for all the comments. Cannot please all of the people all of the time. As for the cost ... if we sold a few thousand more we could afford a cheaper cover price. Unfortunately in a market that has diminished dramatically in recent years that simply isn't a viable option.

EVER since I joined this forum, initially to put right some misinformation being peddled about the actual ownership of Speedway Star, I have willing accepted criticism of the magazine. Everyone has a right to criticise although on occasions I do wonder whether those doing so have actually read or seen SS for sometime. It irks me when people on the bsf say we are in hoc to the BSPA or simply cut and paste press realises. Neither is true. But what particular disappoints is when people, as one did recently, call Speedway Star "crap." That is more often than not balanced by others, including members of the general media, who are amazed how we manage to put together such a good weekly publication for such a small audience and with limited resources. I am no longer involved with the day-to-day running of the mag and nor with its content but I am very proud of those who are. This week for example SS includes: POOLE may have been the all-conquering team of the Elite League era, but it wasn’t always so. In the first 46 years of the Pirates’ existence, they managed only one league title triumph – back in the formative years of the British League in 1969. In this week’s Speedway Star, we track down the surviving members of that Poole side in a fascinating seven-page feature. Returning to more modern times, we also talk to up-and-coming teenager Kyle Bickley about a big year ahead for the Cumbrian kid, plus interviews with the retiring Simon Stead and Jake Knight, new Plymouth promoters Laurence Rogers and Mark Phillips talk about their plans for the Devils, and for Scunthorpe supporters, it’s their side’s 2016 track review, which doesn’t always make the happiest of reading for Scorpions fans! Cut and paste? I think not.

NOT sure I have mentioned it before but I stand corrected if it wasn't three. -

LET'S not forget that three Presidents of the Togliatti club were assassinated. -
KEEP up ...

THE GTR is a completely new engine, nothing to do with GMs. Marcel has been a tuner ever since he quit racing.
-
WHAT a time to tell me that wth Christmas approaching...
-
DOYLE will probably win most races everywhere! Much easier British season ahead for him than in 2016.
-
APPARENTLY this one is over the limit. Hougaard definitely wanted to go to BV.
-
Jonas Kylmakorpi used one all season and had no problems and added that his service bills were dramatically reduced.

Belle Vue National Stadium

WHICH will no doubt come out in the wash once the immediate future of the Aces is secured. From what I am hearing the team that has been mentioned on a few posts here looks pretty accurate -
SO many tuners at the least, many riders at all levels don't know anything more than how to fill in a programme. Astonishing.
-
VERY unlikely that Zagar will be back at Belle Vue. It was never on the cards for 2017 anyway and Holder has at least said he loves riding at the NSS.
