  1. well one of those is fixable for sure and small tracks are fine if they're wide enough.
  2. i really don't think he's saying that to be fair
  3. Yes but in this case the customers will probably ask for something which cannot be supplied because it can not be afforded. dear M&S I would like a wool suit, silk shirt and tie but i want to pay £18 max. Do you mind awfully making a huge loss so i can have what i want?
  4. well that would be a good place to hand out half price entry vouchers at their nearest track
  5. i'm afraid a response from me would read as a rather pathetic reach for the past. I want silver 2 valve bikes back with big handlebars!
  6. i agree with what you say but listen to what? we have several paths which people on here advocate: pare it back to amateur/semi pro, push the boat out for the stars and hope for the best, amalgamate the leagues, etc , etc so which group do they listen to? and whichever path they choose people will kick off and feel alienated personally i want one league at just below current Div 2 level racing on their choice of night and an amateur NL and i can hear people scoffing from here so you can't win. I also want NIL guests while you're at it- I'd rather see teams get slaughtered than guests
  7. well that in itself is not conducive to independence
  8. as usual - nail on the head - 90 pc of fans don't know or care about the engines. Probably uniquely in motorsport
  9. well in that case it has to be set up to suit them ,not Wolves or Poole we're entering survival mode now
  10. excerpt from an interview with Terry Betts “Only the top guys, like Fundin and Briggs, had mechanics, everybody else did their own,” says Terry. “In the early days you took one bike racing and that was it. “The magneto would go on them, and you’d borrow someone else’s bike for the race. Colin Pratt was in the away team and he would borrow your bike – I leant my bike to various different people riding for the opposition. “It was totally different. Now it’s like they’ve got a bike for every race.” says it all really - and he was riding in front of 10000 everyweek
  11. serious post - could someone bring me up to speed on this Friday thing = i think i missed an announcement or something
  12. whilst i agree in principal, what you suggest would not exclude GP riders only but anyone who rides in Poland. Which is fine by me, just pointing it out
  13. more difficult to move a speedway team i would think - if there were suitable venues available people would be looking at them. I don't know of any other than Oxford
  14. its several different businesses - i imagine a franchise would have to buy into and follow the rules of an overall controller with the overall controller being independent and in absolute charge
  15. would yo or someone explain the details of the franchise/draft plan? Sounds interesting
  16. maybe if Newcastle or Worky or whoever aren't turning up every 4 weeks with select teams more fans would come back. Berwick v BelleVue or Wolves might be quite a pull in comparison. Even the return fixtures would be a change from the usual fare. Its all well and good poo - pooing posts but whats the alternative?
  17. being the best run club is irrelevant really - many of their decisions and actions were detrimental to the league - we need the best run league not club, set up to accommodate ALL clubs at an appropriate level. IMO this is an opening salvo to ensure he gets whats best for Poole, which is understandable, but a wider view needed.
  18. theres probably scope for a billboard facing the A66 with thousands of cars passing every day
  19. someone's posted on FB that Lakeside are shutting - apparently Southend Echo running the story but i couldn't see it
  20. trouble is you haven't addressed the 64000 dollar question - at what standard? It has to be viable for Redcar, Workington, etc as well as Poole, Swindon, whoever. The former teams would go bust if its too strong and the latter group would go do lally if they had to weaken. this is why an independent body has to make decisions based on hard headed economics for survival and a plan going forward for growth
  21. whats the heirarchy (sp) of the sport? Is it the ACU who is ultimately in charge? This business of a group of promoters running the sport is not working - all out for their own businesses (understandably) but not really ideal for managing the big picture. Until we have someone who can crack the whip for the overall good there won't be survival. Someone needs to say - this is the way it is and if you can't operate within that - tata.
  22. why 'watered down'? all you need is four competent performers of similar standard to race each other and its as good as it gets. Currently we have an arms race which will end in mutually assured destruction properly organised and publicised such a league could ensure survival. I'd like to have a top league and a div 2 but can't see how it will happen, therefore prune the whole thing back. Don't forget tracks who can afford it can run open individual meetings and invite who they want
  23. Maybe we should do what Woffy's Swedish club has alledgedly done - sign him but don't pay him!
