Swindon - Coventry 4.7.16 On Sky
jim3751 replied to A ORLOV's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Who said the track wasn't as normal? Whatever, if you gate you win, if you don't you lose. Sedgeman who was good all night is outgated and he's at the back and can't even get close. The only way to pass was to bust a gut which Harris did against a second string. Dreadful stuff but compliments to Nigel and Kelvin for trying to talk it up. PS And well done Kelvin for referring to the Poole win at Lakeside as though he'd read the result somewhere -

I saw the nothing Ippo meeting and look how that turned out so I thought I'd go along this time just to make the numbers up. And another excellemt meeting. Must pick another nothing meeting because I'm not used to this -

I just wanted to know how much passing there was so thanks for explaining. I chose not to go because of the number of guests but gate and go on a wet night is not for me. One of the highlights for me in what seems ages ago now was Bridger working hard to pass and generally succeeding. PS I enjoyed watching Wales playing a team game beat a lot of individuals -

We haven't had a meeting for a month and there's no meeting next week so is that good for business? -

I'm sorry to say I agree with all that. I watched it and it was very entertaining but it's like killing the goose that laid the golden egg. Too many rounds. As for the interviews - they're just bland and tell us nothing. I used to auto record the GPs but now I scan the listings to see if anythings on - and there it was. Scotty comes up trumps again IMO for being informative to the uninitiated without being patronising. -
That was meant to be tongue in cheek. I've seen how he obviously likes Peterboro and the supporters like him but I was hoping to see how he handled the situation when riding for his "own" team - as an academic exercise of course

Can't wait for the 14th to see who Comets get as a guest for the guesting Hansen

My comment on another thread about avoiding politics concerned another sport so I just enjoy speedway without delving too deeply so I can continue to enjoy it. After fourteen years I still don't understand who is allowed to ride as a RR and don't care. I thought the use of guests was ridiculous but now realise that others have been banging on about it for ages so I just go with it. Unless it's 3 on both sides Re social media. I had a similar experience. My son was being criticised on a forum but the poster thought they would add a bit of spice to it by bringing me into the topic. They said they were standing next to me and my comments backed them up. I was at home.

Lakeside Hammers V Wolverhampton Wolves - 1 June On Sky
jim3751 replied to TonyE's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Yes he has when he rode for Lakeside -
Of course he does and there have been times when I've agreed with Bal (it is isn't it?) but I think his constant criticism of the Lakeside management has been overstated for long enough now. All this "I tell it like it is" has got up people's noses now. It's probably baloney as well but maybe they got peed off with it and closed the old forum and it's big thanks to you that we now have a replacement I try and steer clear of the politics - that's why I got out another sport - because the more I know the less I enjoy it and maybe Bal knows too much. There's another guy on the Lakeside forum who comes across (or pretends to) as Victor Meldrew whose views I happen to agree with occasionally but he prods and doesn't bash .

Lions certainly looked a weak outfit but something that has to be mentioned is the determnation of the Hammers to win every race no matter what. And you couldn't find a better example than AJ hitting the fence and dropping to the back then coming through to 2nd. Also throw in the fact that Edward Kennett wanted to prove his value to the team and Richard Lawson came back to form and it looked like Leicester came on the wrong night. Louis B is getting there and so is Lewis K and having seen LK at Peterboro it looks as though he can cope with both types of track. Perhaps someone in the know can tell me if Jawas are more difficult to sort/ride than GMs because AFAIK these two are a rarity. Are they works supported?

Peterborough V Ipswich Plc Sunday 22nd May

The Witches are supposed to be poor but they weren't. And Hansen and Ostergaad are supposed to win everything but they didn't maybe because the other team put up a fight. If that meeting was televised that would be getting rave reviews even from the armchair brigade -

I'm with the commentator. That was a bloody good speedway meeting and well worth the diesel. So for those who decided there was nothing in it for the teams and stayed away - hard luck! You missed a treat. -

For me it's either 5 miles to Rye or 70 miles to EoES. During the season "layoff" at Lakeside I ventured into new territory hoping to see Craig Cook but the BSPA scuppered that but the meeting was excellent. If the weather is OK I might give it another go. With the attraction of seeing Cook, Kenneth Hansen again as well as King and Kerr (Lakeside) I reckon it tips the balance. Not big foreign "stars" of the EL but enough IMO to make for good racing. -

Could this thread be opened up to General discussions because no one is using a Jawa in the GP series but I'd like to know if the Jawa engine makes the bike more difficult to control than the GM. -

As Philip suggests riders seem to go for what looks like a winner and Freddie is doing a good bit of PR for the GTR at the moment. And noticably, Bomber, who is not using it now, isn't. Last season it looked to me as though he had improved his gating on the GTR. Whether that was in the mind or because of the engine who knows? -

Was that slick? I'd love to see the action with more dirt. I now appreciate the sneaky comment about Lakeside -

Me too. If it was closer I'd be there every week. -
I'm considering a 1st visit to the showground to see 2 big track teams for a change. I don't follow the politics but can I assume that Craig Cook will not be racing?
