  1. Following the long and well deserved break I am pleased to announce that Dragons Amateur Speedway Club will be opening their season with a Practice/Training Day at the Norfolk Arena, King's Lynn on Sunday March 3rd, with track time from 1pm to 5pm. These session are a great chance to blow away the winter cobwebs or continue easing back into the saddle if you have had the chance to ride already. The Clubs' Training Instructors will be on hand to help iron out any problems, while you are also welcome to come and do your own thing. All are welcome, members and non-members alike, just contact Julie Tutton on 01633 858899 or 07920 002785 to reserve a place. We very much hope to follow this up with a second similar session, venue to be confirmed, watch this space !!! Russ
  2. I have just been informed that due to bad weather at the Norfolk Arena, our Club Class Championship meeting has been postponed. After just one rain off in the previous three seasons this is now the fifth cancellation we have suffered in 2012 which just defies comprehension. We now keep everything crossed for our final event of the 2012 campaign which is our End of Season Big Bash, a speedway event with a twist !!! This has proved hugely popular over the last couple of seasons with riders from all three of our classes pulling together for a common goal without the pointless stupidity of having to go head-to-head with people one or two classes above them. This final event of the season takes place on Saturday November 10th with a 4pm start time, so the majority of the days racing will be under the superb floodlights they have at the stadium. What more could you want, full on amateur speedway, at one of the top Elite League circuits in the country, under floodlights and all run in one of the best atmospheres around, you really don't want to miss this one !! Reserve your place in the usual way by contacting Julie Tutton on 01633 858899 or 07920 002785 This event is open to all, members and non-members alike, so if you STILL haven't had the 'Dragons Experience' you couldn't wish for a better time to give it a go. Look forward to seeing you there Russ
  3. By far the best field ever will take to the King's Lynn circuit this coming Sunday to contest the Clubs most prestigious trophy. The Clubs organisers are extremely excited at the prospect of some truly awesome racing when the event gets underway at midday. Last years winner Rhys Naylor unfortunately won't be present to defend his title, but the rider he lead home on the day Mark Bibby will be looking to go one step further this term and lift the covetted silverware. Others to watch out for amongst the fabulous field will be junior and development league riders Andy Mountain, Adam Portwood, Jack Kingston and brothers Simon and Martin Pearce, while a potential spoilers for those second half regulars could be the diminutive Josh Bailey who has ridden regularly with the club and is now old enough to compete with the top guns and Aaron Mogridge, son of speedway legend Alan who, on his day has the ability to finish on the rostrum !! The full line up will be as follows: 1...Nick Laurence 2...Martin Pearce 3...Ben Harrison 4...Aaron Mogridge 5...Gordon Walker (Intermediate Championship Runner-Up) 6...Josh Bailey 7...Jack Kingston 8...Connor Mountain 9...Mark Bibby 10.Mick Skinner (Intermediate Championship 3rd place) 11.Shane Hazledon - Now unable to take part 12.Simon Pearce 13.Alec Wright 14.Adam Portwood 15.Andy Mountain 16.James Peters Don't miss this feast of amateur speedway, and it's all for FREE !!! See you Sunday Russ
  4. Dragons Amateur Speedway Club crowned the first of it's 2012 Champions in a cracking event at The Old Gun Site, Sittingbourne on Sunday. Competition in both Classes was fierce but for the first time, both trophies were secured with flawless maximums. In the Support Class event it was Sittingbourne stalwart Steve Edwards who finally delivered a performance that he has been threatening all year. Just a point adrift in second was Tony Raybould with Kieron Davidson completing the rostrum line-up, beaten only by the two aforementioned riders. 2011 Champion Ted Ede saw his hopes for retaining his title fade when he suffered terminal bike problems in his second outing but like the true legend he is, the lively 75 year old stayed to hand over his crown upon completion of the days events. In the Intermediate Class reigning champion Mike Osborne suffered an extremely rare off-day and lost his crown to the absolutely faultless Graham Knowler. Knowler was untroubled throughout the day neither by track conditions that changed continually or by opponents alike and proved a thoroughly deserved victor. The Runner-Up spot went to Gordon Walker on 13 points by virtue of his first ride victory over Mick Skinner who finished with an identical tally. Next up is the Club Class Championship to be raced for at the Norfolk Arena, King's Lynn on Sunday October 28th with a mid-day start. The event is open to all abilities as there will be support classes on the day. Although qualification for the Championship is required (a minimum of two meetings must have been completed) it is still possible for non-qualifyers to take part and pit their skills against those taking part. Contact Julie Tutton to reserve your place asap, entries close this Sunday, the 21st. 07920 002785 or 01633 858899 The final event of the Dragons calendar will take place two weeks later back at the home of the Kings Lynn Stars with the eagerly awaiting and pioneering Big Bash Event. The Dragons Club continues to innovate while others watch on with envy with a race event with a twist, where even if you're a winner you can still end up a loser !!! and vice-versa, obviously ;o) Julie is taking bookings too for this event, and with the 4pm start time, we will be seeing the season outr under the floodlights at the top Elite League circuit. Don't miss out on one of the best meetings of the Amateur calendar, make the call or send Julie a text and we look forward to seeing you there. Russ
  5. As the 2012 season heads towards it's conclusion it's Championship time for Dragons Amateur Speedway Club. We kick-off with the Support Class and Intermediate Class events at The Old Gun Site, Sittingbourne on Sunday October 14th. The days event is not solely open to riders in those classes however as we will also be running The Ernie Edwards Memorial Trophy for those who usually compete in our Club Class, The days racing gets underway at mid-day and entries close a week today, October 6th so if you fancy joining us for another great exciting Dragons event then contact Julie Tutton on 07920 002785/01633 858899 and reserve your place. As always, spectating is completely free of charge so why not come along and support the unsung heroes of British Speedway. See you there, Russ
  6. The eagerly anticipated second leg of the Dragons/MTD Group Credit Crunch event not only lived up to but overwhelmingly surpassed all expectations today at The Old Gun Site, Sittingbourne. The racing was fast and furious, some awesome team riding, fruitful tactical rides, three full maximums and two of the three meetings going down to last heat deciders on the day !!! For the large crowd that came along to support those that have supported Dragons ASC so loyally throughout the season it was entertainment of the highest order. When the dust finally settles and all thats left in black and white is relatively considerable aggregate victories after the thirty-six heats of each event it will without doubt belie what was without any shadow of doubt the best day in Dragons history !! In the Support Class SET Lighting took a 21 point advantage into the second leg, which they lead right up until the fifteeth of the eighteen heats when a Wyvern Dragons 4-2 saw the draw level at 49 all. The balance swung further in favour of the Dragons with another 4-2 advantage before SET countered likewise to bring the scores level once again with just one heat remaining. A 5-1 return courtesy of maximum man Bill Hollands and Billy Bibby sealed victory on the day for Wyvern and great satisfaction at a job see through to the end, unfortunately, the victory wasn't enough to stop their opponents taking the spoils on aggregate. The stars of the victorious side were number one Adrian Harden and Mark Wilsher who retunrned 14 and 15 points respectively, the latter recording three impressive heat wins aboard a machine loaned by Club Classee Adam Sheppard, so all the more credit due there. The Dragons side were led impeccably by Hollands who recorded a 21 point maximum, the highlight of his tally being a six-pointer in the black and white helmet colour in the eight race. In the Intermediate Class maximum man Graham Knowler stole the show with a flawless five back-to-back wins. Manager Gary Laker was full of praise for his machine-like heat leader, saying that if he performed as he did in the first leg then he would have no doubt that his side would be more than capable of completing the job that saw them holding a twenty point advantage from the first leg. On the day the Flyers did just that leading as early as the fourth race and maintaining that advantage throughout the event although a 5-1 reverse in the final heat saw the two teams seperated by just two points at the final reckoning. For Ian Olsons' Komodo's former road racer Alec Wright and injury returnee Richard Hutley turned in the best scores for their side with 11 and paid 11 respectively. On the opposite side, Knowlers full house was supported by a fantastic paid 16 from another former road racer Charles Wallace, who made the big step up from the Support Class in the first leg and grabbed the opportunity with both hands, working hard for every point. There was also another solid return of 13 points from James Peters, whose leg-trailing style always has everyone's heart in their mouths, but like Knowler is becoming more and more consistant with every meeting. The Club Class was a much tighter affair with just nine points seperating the sides from the first event and like the Support Class it took a last heat decider to split the teams on the day. The Fenced Inn side led by Lakeside Junior Hammer Jack Kingston and maximum man Mark Bibby who both recorded 15 points apiece, the former would have gone through the card unbeaten in his six rides had it not been for him parting company with his machine in his fifth ride whilst leading. A final heat 5-1 from Kingston and his Hammers team mate Adam Sheppard saw the Fencers secure the win on the day 59-55 although Club Class Rider of the Meeting Belgian Willy Kennis try everything he possibly could to force his way to the front but the victorious pair rode solidly to keep him at bay. 7. Hello there, It is now under two weeks until we attempt to restage our premier event of the season, The MTD Group, Credit Crunch. Following the cancellation of the first attempt to run the initial leg of the event due to torrential rain flooding the Sittingbourne circuit there is still time to book your place as there are still a few spaces available. The event is split over three groups, Club for those at the top of their game and are chasing a National League spot or haver an ability approaching that level and looking to improve further. A Support Class for those with some ability and indeed some who may be competing properly for the first time ! And the Intermediate Class for those who fall somewhere inbetween the above two classes. Likekwise, the event is open to club members and non-members alike, what better way to taste the Dragons experience than at one of our biggest events of the year, a guarantee of a minimum of five races (some have had up to 8 or 9 in the past ! ) and all for just £20 non-members and £15 for members. Contact Julie Tutton on 01633 858899 or 07920 00785 for more details or to book, you won't regret it !!!! Come and join us, if not to ride then to watch, a great days entertainment and all for the very reasonable admission price of exactly NOTHING !!!!! ;o) August 12th, The Old Gun Site, Sittingbourne, 11.30am start Cya, Russ
  8. We are really pleased to announce that Speedway Ride n Slide Dayz are now the proud owners of the King's Lynn based Powerslide School. With our Ride n Slide Dayz going from strength to strength, the plan to takeover the school, started many years ago by former rider Peter Boast has been in the pipeline for 12 or so months and now with the i's dotted and t's crossed it's all systems go !! The plan for the school is to act as a bridge between the 'experiences' we offer through Ride n Slide Dayz and the potential of joining us at the Dragons Amateur Speedway Club where we run programmed events throughout the season, catering for absolutely all abilities, from a first time competitor through to those putting themselves in the Nation League shop window. The schools will be more intensive than the RnS events, concentrating more on building up confidence, speed and mastering the art of sliding the bike. We will be working with a smaller number of riders than at the RnS events which will allow us to give more individual track time to those taking part. We will also be working with some of the latest technology which will give us the opportunity to maximise what each rider gets from a Powerslide Day. Of course, there is absolutely no compulsion to have had to have attended a Ride n Slide Day before you book onto a Powerslide School, if you want to go 'total hardcore' straight into it then that is absolutely fine with us. Our website www.powerslidespeedwayschool.com is currently under construction and should be on line in the very near future but we do have four dates secured at The Norfolk Arena for 2012 and they are as follows: Sunday August 19th, Saturday September 15th, Sunday October 21st and Sunday November 18th. Please feel free to give us a call anytime for a chat and see if there is anything we can do to help you. Thanks for taking the time to read this Russ Paine 01438 355009/07976 424145
  9. The highly anticipated 2012 MTD Group Credit Crunch event that fell foul to the rain on July 8th has been rescheduled for Sunday August 12th at The Old Gun Site, Sittingbourne. An atractive field that threw up three very interesting contests looked like continuing the legacy that this event has produced in the past but unfortunately due to circumstances beyond control and other commitments some of those due to take part will be unable to take their places at the rescheduled event therefore there are quite a few spaces now up for grabs. This is by far one of the best Amateur speedway events of the year so if you wish to take part then please contact Julie Tutton asap to reserve your place. Don't leave it too late and end up on the reserve list with the chance of missing out altogether. Give her a call on 07920 002785 or 01633 858899 Don't forget, this event is sponsored by The MTD Group of companies and is open to riders for just £15 members and £20 non-members. Come and try the 'Dragons Experience' you won't be disappointed !!!!!
  10. Following the desperately disappointing loss to the weather of the long awaited Credit Crunch event last Sunday, Dragons Amateur Speedway Club return to the track on Sunday week with a programmed event at The Norfolk Arena, Kings Lynn. The event is open to all abilities and as usual offers the choice of taking part in the programmed side of things or just getting in some practice between the heats. Likewise, there is not neccessity to be a Club member, you are more than welcome to come along and give the highly talked about 'Dragons Experience' a try. If you are interested in joining us then please contact Julie Tutton asap to reserve your place as entries close on Sunday night (15th) on 01633 858899 or 07920 002785. We look forward to seeing you there, top draw racing in a fantastic 'family' atmosphere, thats 'DRAGONS' Russ
  11. Hello there everybody, a big thanks for following the progress of Speedway Ride n Slide Dayz. We continue to go from strength to strength selling out our September 14th date at Arena Essex some TEN weeks before the actual event ! We have been blown away by the response to this RnS Day at the home of the Lakeside Hammers and must pass on our thanks to those people that have recommended us to their friends and colleagues. This will be our fourth sell-out of 2012 we are overwhelmed by peoples interest and support, especially in light of the current economical climate. Following the incredible demand to attend our August 8th event at Brandon Stadium, Coventry we have spoken to Mick Horton and been able to secure a date to return there later next month. We will be returning on Friday 31st August and we are taking bookings now. Check out www.speedwayridenslidedayz.com for all the information you will need.

  13. Hello there, This event is proving to be as popular this year as it has in the past, don't leave it too late to book and end up missing out, You WILL regret it !! The event really is something else, you only have to speak to anyone who has ridden in it, presentation is top class and the racing has always been awesome. Definitely worth a look even if you're not riding !!! Sittingbourne, Sunday July 8th, see you there !!!!!!!!! ;o) Russ
  14. Calling all amateur speedway riders, if history is anything to go by, this is one meeting you won't want to miss ! Dragons Amateur Speedway is proud to announce that in conjunction once again with The MTD Group of companies, the Credit Crunch event is heading to Sittingbourne next month. This is a two-legged event, the first taking place on Sunday July 8th, 11.30am start while the all decisive second leg to be held on Sunday September 16th, with the same start time. The meeting traditionally features three, yes three, 7-man team events each run over 18 heats, so there will be fifty-four quality heats of racing to be seen on the day. The event is open to all abilities with riders being divided into Club, Intermediate and Support teams to contest the matches. This event is our way of putting a little something back in return for the support all of our members and some non-members show us throughout the season and with the very generous support of the MTD Group we are able to offer this awesome event to the riders for just £15 for members and £20 for non-members !! You will not get better value than this at any amateur meeting all season. To reserve your place for this event contact Julie Tutton on 01633 858899 or 07920 002785 as soon as you can to ensure a start. In both of the last two years this event has filled up very quickly and we have had people on a reserve list hoping for someone to pull out at the last minute. So come on guys and girls, Dragons lead while others follow where innovation is concerned in Amateur speedway, why not be part of that success ! Russ
  15. Dragons Amateur Speedway Club hope to finally get to take to the Norfolk Arena on June 10th, 1pm start. The Club has seen both attempts at running events at the Elite League circuit fall foul of the weather so hopefully it's gonna be third time lucky next month. The event is open to all abilities, wether you wish to compete or just practice and to members and non-members alike. Contact Julie Tutton on 01633 858899 / 07920 002785 if you wish to take part.
  16. Hi MrDaniel, thanks for your enquiry. Our next two outings in the 'Midlands' are on Wednesday July 11th at Leicester and then four weeks later on Wednesday 8th August we are at Coventry. Hope this is of some help. All the best, Russ

  19. Following yet another disappointing rain-off Dragons Amateur Speedway Club look to take to the track once more at The Old Gun Site, Sittingbourne on Sunday May 13th. This is a programmed event and open to all abilities. There is also the option of using this as a practice session if you don't fancy the competitive side of things. The event is open to members and non-members alike, a day membership can be purchased on the day. The event starts at mid-day and runs until approximately 4pm. To book a place please contact Julie Tutton on 01633 858899 / 07920 002785 asap. 20. Ride n Slide Dayz continue to push the boundaries of the Speedway Experience Days when they head to yet another top Elite League circuit on Wednesday August 8th. Following on from the hugely successful and well attended days already held this season at Arena Essex and Leicester, we are over the moon to be taking Ride n Slide Dayz to Brandon, the home of one of the UK's top Clubs. Bookings will be taken for this event straight away as it will no doubt prove to be a very popular venue and your place can be secured with just a £45 (25%) deposit. See www.speedwayridenslidedayz.com for further details. Russ
  21. Speedway Ride n Slide Dayz made it's first ever visit to Beaumont Park, Leicester on Sunday for their second event of the season. Text book weather, a brilliant track and a truly fantastic group of guys and one amazing young lady made for an awesome day. Our thanks to the Leicester Promotion for having faith in us to deliver an experience day as discussed and the feedback so far has been nothing short of blowing us away. The attention to detail that is put into our Ride n Slide Dayz is what we feel sets us apart from others that offer days in a similar veign and both events held so far this season have seen people return to us for not only the second time but in one case, the fourth time !! Next up we head back to where we held our season opener, Arena Essex. This event on Friday May 4th now has only a couple of places available as it has proved a very popular venue for us, so if you fancy giving us a try then please contact me on 07976 424145 or via our website www.speedwayridenslidedayz.com Following this event we will be having a stand at the BMF Show (British Motorcyclists Federation) at the East of England Showground, Peterborough the weekend of Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th May so why not come along and have a chat with us if you are attending, it really is an amazing weekend. Then we head North (from Stevenage that is !!) to The Norfolk Arena, Kings Lynn for the first of our two Ride n Slide Dayz there on Saturday June 9th. There are still a few spaces left for this event to be held at one of the UK's top race circuits, one that will be holding a World Cup event later in the year and rounding of the month we head very much South to Plymouth for our very first visit to Mike Bowdens St Boniface Arena. This is a strictly limited number event due to the quantity of track time available and already interest is very high, so if you fancy a spin around one of the newer tracks operating in the UK then again, get in touch. All we need to secure a place at one of our events is a £45 deposit and the balance then paid no later than 14 days before the event, so there is no need to stump up the full amount of your experience day all in one go. So whether your looking to fulfil a lifelong dream (whatever your age !! my dad rode in our launch back in May 2011 and he's 77 this year !! ), fancy having a go at something completely different to what you usually do or are looking to get the first step on the ladder to a possible speedway career then this is the place to do it, Ride n Slide Dayz promises you an organised, quality day in as safe a way as possible, check out the testimonials on our website from those who have ridden with us. We look forward to hearing from you guys and girls, Yours in speedway, Russell Paine
  22. Dragons Amateur Speedway Club finally got their season underway with a cracking event at Sittingbourne. Ross Walter came out top of the Club Class group cleverly doing what was neccessary in his final ride to take the winners trophy. David Tutton and James Peters won the Intermediate pairs event after a closely contested A-Final with Stefan Kalisz and guest rider Adam Sheppard. While in the Support Class Individual event it was an unblemished full house for Graham Knowler that took top spot on the rostrum. He was pushed all the way by one of our Ride n Slide stars Alec Wright who dropped only a single point to Knowler and took the Runners-Up spot, a superb effort in only his second competitive event. Third place on the day was filled by an returning Dragons favourite Dave 'the Perkolater' Perkins who finished on a total of thirteen points. Rider of the Meeting was Chris Shallcross who rode out of his skin in the Intermediate Pairs and took some impressive scalps on his way to a more than creditable return, well done Shalks. Our attentions now turn to Sunday 22nd April when we have another programmed event, this time its the Norfolk Arena, Kings Lynn with a 1pm start time. The event is open to riders of all abilities and all sized machines. Also, we offer the chance to practice should you not wish to compete in the event, and go out between the heats. To book a place at the above please contact Julie Tutton on 01633 858899/07920 002785 Entries close Sunday April 15th to don't miss out, come and have the 'Dragons Experience', you won't regret it !!! See you on the 22nd, Russ
