  1. One positive of Berntzon's qualification is there is far less likelihood of Lindback getting another wild card for 2021.
  2. Do we get a run off, or does Loktaev get the first reserve place on the basis of his three heat wins over Milik's two wins? Genuine question.
  3. Can't believe Milik went so wide on the last bend; it is almost as if some of these guys don't actually want to qualify!
  4. Fortune seems to seriously favour Berntzon...first Loktaev and now Kasprzak, who for all his earlier brilliance could now end up in a race off.
  5. Credit where credit is due. Kasprzak is clearly up for it tonight. I thought he might have a chance at Gorican, as it is traditionally a gaters track, but he firstly stuffed Fricke, before winding it on, on the outside past Lahti. Lahti, in my opinion, could have been a lot harder of Kasprzak, but left him the room to make the pass.
  6. Laguta is stuffed, or is it him playing it clever, as he has reputedly never wanted to be in the GP's...
  7. Loktaev nine out of nine...in contrast Lahti may as well pack the bikes in the van. Three from three rides. Another rider who isn't doing himself justice like Michelsen.
  8. Loktaev two wins from two - another potential surprise qualifier? In contrast, Michelsen might as well pack up and put his bikes in the van, as he won't be qualifying from the Challenge.
  9. Zagar keeps himself in the running with his pass on Lahti...
  10. Kasprzak again from the gate...probably needs six points from his last three rides...
  11. Well let us wait and see who qualifies first before casting judgement.
  12. Michelsen would be worthy of a GP spot and from a personal point of view, Timo Lahti could well upset the favourites for qualification.
  13. Three likely qualifiers and Kasprzak, who is past it in my opinion. Saying that, it wouldn't surprise me, to see Kasprzak qualify if he makes five decent starts, as passing will be at a premium at Gorican.
  14. I was staggered that KK was Poland's representative, as there are plenty of other Poles, who warrant a place more than he does. However, I believe the Polish Federation honoured their promise to give him the place, on the basis of winning the Polish Golden Helmet last year.
  15. I wouldn't have them there as it effectively gives them two opportunities to do the business on the track (as well as the possibility of a wild card), whereas others only have one. Less so with Slovenia, but with Australia, there is no shortage of riders who could have ridden in the Challenge. I don't have anything against either rider, but I am hoping that neither finish in the top three of the Challenge, as they still have the chance to earn their place on track in the GP's.
  16. Given the circumstances, it is difficult to see how they could have put a different system in place whilst maintaining fairness to riders across the world. Yes there are a number of riders in the field, who would never have made it to a GP Challenge, but I have less objection to those being there than the likes of Fricke and Zagar, who are already in the GP system. To be honest, I'm pretty shocked that Motorcycling Australia could not/would not find another Aussie who wanted to do the meeting.
  17. But that has been Klindt throughout his career. Very fast from the traps, but generally gets overtaken by the better riders, or if he misses the start, he scores next to nothing. At both Wolverhampton and Workington, where I saw him in different phases of his career, his scorecard would often resemble 3, 0, 3, 0, 3.
  18. Good luck to the Latvians. Some talented young riders, who are making their way from riding in the Baltic League, to riding for Daugapvils in the Polish First Division e.g. Francis Gusts.
  19. A horrendous crash...I sincerely hope Peter Ljung isn't as badly injured as it first appears.
  20. Interesting - once Round Two begins, I can imagine that only Timo Lahti will have a comparable average to Andrei Karpov of the non-Swedes riding.
  21. They were filming at Daugapvils for the Baltic League Round One, involving riders from Finland, Estonia and Latvia. They also filmed the day after the Latvian Championship. As noted above, they are all connected to VRT (main rider Jesse Mustonen), who are the main driving forces behind the Baltic League. It would be rather unlikely they would either be able to, or permitted to, film Polish Division One action at Daugapvils.
  22. Yes indeed and outside of England, Cook is not at the level of Lahti; a brief comparison of their record in Poland would tell you as much.
  23. Unless Kasprzak ups his game considerably from the SEC and Ekstraliga, he shouldn't be troubling the qualifiers. I honestly think Timo Lahti has a better chance than most; especially if he replicates his performance from the last two SEC rounds.
  24. Who knows exactly - at least Adam Ellis is riding in Poland, whereas it would be asking a lot for Charles Wright to jump into such a meeting with no recent match experience. Personally, I'm surprised that Greg Laguta is giving it a go; with the standard of the line-up being weaker than recent years, it gives him and the likes of Timo Lahti their best ever chance of getting to the GPs. I don't think having Fricke and Zagar in the meeting is right; unlike every other GP rider they now have two bites of the cherry when it comes to qualifying for next year. Equally, I'm surprised that the Australians haven't offered anyone else the chance to take part, as they are not exactly short of active riders.
