HeathenBaggie replied to HeathenBaggie's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I did the Friday/Saturday nights with the family for the first four years or so then it beacme a nightmare for availabilty and the Hilton got so expensive. Really looking forward it - my only 'live' speedway of the year now................. -
I love to get down there early and parked up and in the cafe near the stadium for Breakie - plus to miss the roadworks ! I'm be leaving the Easy Midlands around 7 ish !

Cardiff The Greatest Show Earth
HeathenBaggie replied to willstaxi's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I think someone touched upon it earlier to sum things up - A SPEEDWAY CARNIVAL ! I grew up a speedway fan watching my local team Cradley until their demise ten or so years ago. I have no affinity with League racing now though do watch all the brilliant Sky coverage to keep my speedway 'fix' up. However, since the first Cardiff I always put myself out to get down there (missed only one - the Bomber win unfortunately !) - I have taken the family for a long expensive weekend at the Hilton or, more recently, have made the long return drive down from the East side of England. I always meet up with my old West Midlands mates from Cradley and the time flies by until tapes up time - seeing speedway people together on such a huge scale makes me so proud and keeps me in touch with the sport - a sport that would disappear from my horizon as a 'live' event if it was not for the Cardiff experience. Here's to Saturday's Carnival - I'll be on my way early. -
Well Done To Crumpy
HeathenBaggie replied to paulr's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Crumpy was brilliant on Saturday and well done to him - it opened up the Championship wonderfully. Also, a big congrat to Greg was also superb. -
Hey, he was TOTALLY at fault........... He's involved in too many of these incidents to be a coincidence.

You got it!

I'm pretty laid back at speedway these days (only attend GPs since my club Cradley went) but I lost it last night at the pathetic decisions that all went Pedersen's way......................... I'll never forgive what he did to Greg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cardiff Hotels
HeathenBaggie replied to ILoveAJ's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hotel rooms/room prices in Cardiff is a big issue to me........... Myself and family have enjoyed staying in the Hilton Fri/Sat nights for five of the previous GPs and we have even upgraded to the Exec Club on occcasions. However, we could'nt get anything reasonable for the last two seasons as all the central-ish hotels are always full! So, after missing my only GP last season I decided to travel there and back on the day - too long a day for the family SO instead of four of us attending only one ended up going yesterday. -
The NEW Peter Collins ?

Cardiff Attendance
HeathenBaggie replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Looked slighty up on any previous one I'd say - the back staraight third level was fuller than it's ever been and that holds a lot of people. 46-7k ? -
Great to see the reaction of Crump and Hancock when Chris won, they seemed to 'look after' him as he took the celebrations.

WELL DONE BOMBER !!!! Pure brilliance, even had non-speedway fans up out of their seats tonight watching it!!! First Cardiff GP missed due to a holiday looming so gutted to miss out on the atmosphere tonight................typical miss a English winner!

Ermolenko at Cardiff
HeathenBaggie replied to Kylmo's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
We were on the 3rd bend entry and could only make out every other word that Sam shouted, not that it spoilt the tremendous atmosphere though ! Ommer Em -
Great stuff - a big well done to the English biys but, as a Cradley regular watching Hamill and Hancock start out, I'm chuffed Greg did the business and keeps the Heathen links alive......................and didn't he look chuffed! Anyone know why he came around and stopped at the 3rd corner during his celebrations?

Our first Speedway Event
HeathenBaggie replied to a topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the national media have always had a downer on speedway yet 'smaller' spectator sports like tennis and darts(!) get hyped to the hilt. -
GP Predictions Round 4 - CARDIFF
HeathenBaggie replied to Lioness's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Cardiff is my only 'live' speedway since the demise of the great Haethens, so I'm really looking forward to today. Supporting Greg Hancock but also willing on the English guys - what a big boost it would be for the sport if the likes of Loram, Richardsson or Nicholls could do it! 1 Hancock 2 Crump 3 Rickardsson 4 Adams Ommer Em................ -
Cradley Heathens <post 1980 All Time Team >
HeathenBaggie replied to greyhoundp's topic in Years Gone By
Boulger has to be in personally - my first speedway hero! He held Cradley together in the mid-seventies when we really struggled. -
