Canary Wharf, anybody would think he's a bloody Norwich fan as well. If the rumoured team is accurate it comes in at 39.61, at 0.39 under the limit. That would have left enough for a gating tart like Klindt instead of Heeps. Lol 😁 Just keeping the the thread alive while we wait for confirmation. T minus 5hrs. Ish

Nothing to add MF?

If this is the worst kept secret around and does turn out to be the team it should be quite an effective one although I still have some reservations about the two reserves both coming back from nasty injuries. Also I hope Heeps likes the promised by CL forthcoming track changes, and him learning how to gate might be handy as well.

I'm guessing Thursday as that's their favourite day but I'm sure we'll find out on twitter the day before from Mike Bacon. He usually tweets "big news tomorrow".
-
Think it all depends on who the third heatleader is as to who else fits in the team , CL may yet surprise us all but I doubt it. After all that's what the wait is all about. Whoever is in the side will need to start the season well as there's no buffer of the league cup to get the feel of the new track changes. Next week can't come soon enough to stop the speculation.

I'd rather have Heeps than Jacobs in the main team, Jacobs was more like a NL wobbler in his last few meetings this year, he clearly isn't comfortable at Foxhall. Wilson Dean is a different matter though. And Baldy, where on earth did you pull Billy Janniro from? If you're pulling Americans in what average would Hancock be? He'd be new to our league. And he can gate!

Sounds like a plan.

At least we know when the team news will be released now. Then all the seriously and wtf comments can be forthcoming. I think definites are King, Covatti and Hume then I think alot will depend on if we are going down the two 2pt reserves route with regard to the rest!
-
It's not often I stray to comment on other teams threads but Peterborough were doing quite well last season until they made radical team changes then it all went t*ts up and then they faded away to fall out of the playoffs?
-
Heeps might be a reasonable shout, he's been away a year. Morten came back from a season at Plymouth and improved his average, no reason why Cameron couldn't do the same. Of course all relevant to if Sarj is back or not. Also will Mountain be ready or not? He will have been off his bike for quite some time. I still think that going for two 2pt reserves coming from major injuries would be a big risk to take.

It's so dull on here everyone is talking about the weather (I think), we normally reserve long weather discussions for days of meetings. The least they could do is give us a date when the team is going to be revealed.
-
Very true, but this thread has become rather silly while we await announcements.

How about Big Macs? Oh hang on, that would require the sponsorship of a rather large fast food company. Lol
-
Obviously we don't know exactly what difference the track changes will make to the racing at Foxhall but one thing Scott isn't is a gater! So on that basis it's a no no for me on that average. The rumour mill seems rather quiet at the moment, I'm guessing they are going to give us the whole team in one hit. A bit boring really as we all love a bit of speculation. Ritchie Hawkins hinted on twitter that he hopes people will be as happy as he is with next years team so it's obviously sorted, why not let us know?

An alien? I've often wondered what planet the Bald one originally came from?
-
Not quite sure how this fits into Ipswich 2017 but no I don't think it will ever happen again. Oh, and it's been quite some time since we've seen a post on here by yourself Mr S. Where have you been?
-
Is there a Massif shortage of Ice cream at McDonald's in Ipswich now? We wouldn't know anything about that would we guys?
-
Thing is, if you go too top heavy with 2 reserves that have got potential it could be brilliant later in the season or totally disastrous, do you take that risk that they will produce before its too late. I know we made positive changes this year that came good but I'd like make a better start than this year. It's all about opinions but personally I don't think we'll get many points away from home with a Mountain/Hume reserve pairing. Not for a while anyway.

I just wish they'd get the agm over and done with so we know where we stand. The promoter's obviously know more than us which is why Chris Louis has said he has a few ideas of the team for next year already. I would imagine that all ideas will just have to be ratified before everyone can go away and get there teams organised. The only issues may be around the teams that are struggling financially wanting to cut costs and trying to force certain issues onto others. I do very much sympathise with those teams but the only answer is to compete at a level that's viable to keep running. If that means NL for some then that's the way it has to be. If the Witches future was in doubt i know I would rather be in a lower league and sustainable than not have speedway at all.
-
Question is where did this rumoured lower points limit come from? Somebody actually in the know or pure speculation as it's been talked about before. I know it's already been said but watering down the product is hardly going to get people coming back to the stands in droves! And whilst I fully understand the concept of trying to save money and making the clubs more sustainable it is a worldwide fact in any sport that richer owners will be able to put together more competitive teams. The better mid order riders with potential will naturally be attracted to and snapped up by those that pay the most. As far as I'm aware the Witches are not one of the teams under threat of closing and I just hope that we can put together a septet that will be in the mix next year, whatever stupid rules the BSPA happen to come up with!
-
Towards the end of that season it appeared to be poorly maintained and not very quick due to lack of money I'm guessing, and that makes it not so good.
-
God we are a seriously aging fan base looking at some of the previous posts! When are they going to get it right to attract a new younger generation for the sport to continue? I started going in the mid 70's even before I went to football, can't remember my first meeting, been asleep since then. Still got hooked though.
-
Gino finished 2015 on 5.43, with decent equipment and if hes learnt how to stay on his bike for 4 laps he could be worth a punt on that average. I still think alot of how the team ends up will be dependent on how many of, or if any of the rumoured rule and point limit changes turn out to be true. We may be looking at many of the teams saying wtf or seriously!
-
What, no triple B (Billy big ball's) as Baldy might say! I'm sure we will all wish him well with his time in his homeland and thank him for his contribution to Ipswich Speedway. He's been pretty consistent for us this year and definitely one of his better seasons although occasionally lacking when we really needed him to come to the party. A non heat leader rider to end the season on a 7+ average could well be difficult to find a replacement for. Still, time will tell when things start to come together after the agm.
-
The problem is that it isn't like a football league , the higher you finish in any football league the more prize money you get. If Speedway had similar structure or could attract reasonable sponsorship arrangements then it would be heavily in a teams interest to ride as many meetings as possible to achieve the greater rewards. If anything currently a promoter is more likely to be patting his wallet if he can't complete a full league programme as he doesn't have to pay the riders and crowd levels aren't exactly hugely profit making are they? It's all about money.
