One of the main problems with the SGP is that the line up doesn't contain the best 16 riders in the world... -

And the Panthers had 4 riders with an average over 7, along with Scotty 6.71 and Bjarne 6.33 Only Bewley and Holder could be classed as big hitters that year...

I have always thought the top four this season was a foregone conclusion. The top four all have big hitters, and I never bought the strength in depth argument this year...
