  1. So, weather permitting, the Pirates return to Wimborne Road for this Championship clash against the Edinburgh Monarchs, with Craig Cook no doubt playing the 'pantomime villain' role(or should that be roll?) A couple of changes for both teams. For Pirates just an August positional change with Kyle Newman moving to 2 and Anders Rowe to 6. For the Monarchs, r/r continues for Castagna; and Edwards guesting for Lasse Fredrickssen (before Max Clegg replaces him for the return fixture on Friday). Thoughts?
  2. I'm fairly certain its as much to do with the availability of enough volunteers to lay covers out and then take them off at the drop of a hat, as much as its to do with cost!!
  3. His average is 3.67 from Tuesday hence my question of who could replace him?
  4. His average is 3.67 from Tuesday hence my question of who could replace him?
  5. He's usually scored his average or more recently. Of all the 2 pointers currently available nobody is guaranteed to score more.
  6. Yes but he was harshly red carded in that meeting! He's scored well since.
  7. Anyway well done to Glasgow. Their 2 guest reserves rode well. The aggregate bonus point should be Poole's. And who could replace Adam on less than 3.67? He needs some help with reliable machinery.
  8. ...and we know from last season how Glasgow love a dampish track!!!!!
  9. I think we all need to know what the League(s) format is/are and the team building points limit before anyone starts talking rider options!!
  10. Most other sports operate a 'squad' system of sorts so guests aren't required.
  11. How about Hans Andersen on 7.00. Rumoured to have been sacked by Panthers today so could be looking for a Championship place?!
  12. Hans could well be the target for Birmingham?!
  13. You can only replace a 3.61 GSA rider with a guest on a lower GSA (Green Sheet Average). GSAs are updated after 23rd of each month.
  14. Well we won't have to wait too long to find out!!
  15. Why should 'gate and go' mean 'follow the leader'? All 4 riders could gate and go, and the racing could be fast and close, Clearly a 'leader' is going to win with others following, other wise every race would be a 4-way dead heat (if the transponders allow?) Maybe the answer is in the heat format and there should only be heat leaders v heat leaders; 2nd strings v 2nd strings and reserves v reserves, rather than always blaming the tracks?
  16. During the lunch break of the Ashes cricket today on BBC 5 sports extra, there was a live interview with sports promoter Eddie Hearn. He made several interesting and relevant points about the sports he promotes and some others that he enjoys eg cricket. He reckons that in every sport - team or individual - you have to create 'characters'. Any sport should have characters that fans can relate to, even if the personas are 'made up' to generate supporter and media interest. ( Wrestling,Darts etc) 'Sports should be entertaining - not just in the actual live competition, but also in the pre and post publicity'. 'Whatever the sport purists want it can be achieved but also every event must entertain by creating characters - heroes and villains'! Interesting.......
  17. There seems to be the impression that 'gate and go' only applies to one or two riders per race?! 'Gate and go' can apply to all 4 riders in a race, is very often NOT boring and often provides decent, fast racing by riders that 'miss the gate'! If all 4 'gate and go' then the racing can be very close even when there are no overtakes!!
  18. Not sure if that rule applies to reserves? Someone will no doubt clarify.
