  1. Best two meetings we've had came after rainy days on or before the meeting. Not sure if this is part of the answer to the track issues, but I fear next week will be another hot week and racing will be back to minimal passing. As someone who has to pick & choose meetings, I will give this a miss & watch the SWC on TV if we have not had much rain leading up to Saturdays meeting. Hope Im proven wrong though.
  2. What do people think about the promotions use of Social Media? I guess they are not a great fan of it due to the criticism that comes their way every time they post something, but I do think they are missing a trick in reminding casual fans about the Lions. I know the web-site is mainly up to date, but I don't think they are quite as good on Facebook or twitter. It seems quite inconsistent, as at the moment there has been no post since before the Edinburgh meeting. It's not a criticism, just think if they put something out at least once a day, re-tweeted positive comments or even had riders taking over the account for a q&a once in a while they would benefit by having more social media traffic and keep Leicester Speedway more in the minds of non hardcore fans.
  3. With all the drama off the track over the last weeks I'm surprised they haven't approached ITV2 or BBC3 about a behind the scenes documentary to help raise funds - "The Only Way Is Hemsley"!
  4. Flagrag, cheers for the info. Can you clarify point 2. Are you saying they plan to build a new club house & pavilion opposite the ticket office? Also when Hemsley was on either Radio Leicester or BikerFM a while back he talked about work on the BMX track starting. Anyone seen or know anything about this?
  5. Interesting turnaround on the Supporters club Facebook page, critical post seem to be staying on there now, including ones copied and pasted from here!
  6. Did anyone else hear Adam Roynon on Biker FM, he stated after watching meetings at Leicester whilst out injured he wasn't too bothered about not coming back as the track was poor & inconsistent, blaming it on the weather, work spent on it & machinery available.
  7. In all the excitement of the meeting & shenanigans after, I forgot there was a pass on bend 1 after lap 1. Can't remember this happening much. Anyone got a rough idea how many times this has happened ?
  8. My thoughts exactly. Accept the loss like a man, but be happy the track about the racing on show. Bet we won't see a track like that again cos he'll want to make it as much of gaters paradise as possible. If nothing had had happened after the meeting, people would've been talking about the team failing not the track or promotors. Now he's made sure its about him again. Surely he should've saved this aggro to a week when the racing was bad, so to change the subject from the track to him, not on a week when the track was good!!! Oh, I almost forgot about the v.good meeting!! Credit to Somerset & Morris, great riding.
  9. I agree with you on this. It was clear no major track changes will be made & that DH is happy putting out the standard of racing currently seen. So people will have to decide whether to continue to attend or stop going. I think will still attend some meetings, but I won't be inviting any new family / friends to try it as dont think any would see it as value for money entertainment. Interesting that in the last week the official Facebook page & twitter account have been putting a few messages out from people congratulating them on the track & set up, as if to counteract someone the negative comments seen here & elsewhere.
  10. I think Chris Simpson writes on the forum, tweets etc but is not on the show. So I think it was his idea, obviously didn't get passed to Paul asking the questions. Disapointed how few people actually sent in questions or had them read out. I reckon pretty much everything they had sent in they read out, so you can't really blame BikerFM. Also DH answered all the questions asked, you may not like the answers given but he did answer them. Not sure where he got the best track in the country or some of the most passes are at Leicester from though. Basically DH said there would be no major track changes, due to the high cost. So I think we can only expect minor/cheap changes, if anything-similar to what we have seen the last 2 winters. Therefore, for me this subject is closed, you either put up with what we've got or don't go.
  11. Just submitted my question to Biker FM :- Can you ask David whether any further track changes will take place to improve the racing at Leicester. Between 2011-2013 I have been to 8 meetings even though I only live 1 mile from the track. I would probably go to 10 meetings a year & invite friends&family but I can't justify £15 for the current standard of racing with very little passing. From what I've heard, only the Ipswich meeting has bucked the trend of minimal passing and this seemed down to the amount of rain leading up to the meeting.
  12. I saw around 16 posts regarding the interview yesterday on the LSSC Facebook page, the majority slating Darcy, but now the post & all comments have disappeared. What a joke!
  13. Re: Darcy on Radio Leicester. Fair enough if Hemsley wants him to help out, but don't put him on the radio. Wasn't to bothered about what he said about Peterborough or the Elite league, but he seemed to throw all the riders under the bus. Doolan wasn't good enough, the riders didn't practise on the track before the season, they didn't hang around after the press day, it's their problem if they are jaded from racing and travelling all the time etc etc. Any potential new fan must've been thinking the team is not that good & there are problems between the promoters & riders. You expect the management to back the riders & be trying to "sell" the team to a new audience, not be putting it down & making it sound worse than it is.
  14. Alan Jones & David Hemsley were on radio Leicester tonight at 18.30. It's worth going to the BBC leicester web site and listening again. Hemsley comments on the development of Beaumont Park & the track. Hemsley said a BMX track was currently being built, but it sounded like he was struggling to get much else in. Velodrome & 5-a-side football pitches not happening. Hemsley reckoned the practices that have taken place since the track changes have seen an improvement. Yes, I know, he's not going to say anything else! Anyway that was my take on what he said. Thought it was good to hear his answers on a couple of the main questions that gave come up on here recently.
