  1. I was told that there is no track at Arendal at the mo, at least the fences have been taken down?
  2. And Kaparna is on it's way to getting the track situation sorted.
  3. Go to youtube and search finnish speedway or similar. There's a clip from Seinäjoki where Jarmo Hirvasoja rides an ice bike on a regular track... Not nice, someone should have told him that when he falls he doesn't slide...
  4. I have no idea where Östersund is in Sweden, but SMHI, the swedish weather service is promising +2 to +7 celsius for the next week all over Sweden. As I left to pick up my girlfriend last saturday from the Christmas party of her job, it's was +7,5 celsius at Tampere. We had one week of winter here, 1st to 4th of November. Thats when I was in the UK. Its been raining almost all the time ever since. Tommy Flyktman is currently in Arjeplog, have no idea where that is but there is ice. He's been riding alot I heard.
  5. I never thought the Danish league as one of the big one's. Attendances around 500-1000, no brits riding, mostly danes, poles, occasional swede... No matter how important for the danish youngsters, has it really been one of the big ones during this millenium (thats how long I've been REALLY following the sport).

I'm trying all the time to get the results, and if I get them, they will be posted here and here.. See You in Finnish News for 2007!
  7. you people... Heard plenty again, most of it unfit to print but....
  8. Heard yesterday that Toni Salmela has quit speedway. He had a bad leg injury in 2005 which ruled him out for the whole 2006 season. Another source has confirmed that he will be Kauko Nieminen's #1 in Sweden next season. Salmela will look after Nemo's bikes and keep them in top condition for Nemo's tuesday visits to Sweden. We'll see what there is to be heard tonight....
  9. Flyktman has said that his main focus is to get to the GP as well as to ride in the Finnish and Nordic finals. Think he missed a round last year, maybe the organizers weren't too happy about that. But in sportowefakty.pl they were only talking about Aakko or Seppänen. Aakko did not want to do it so Seppänen got the place.
  10. Nothing much to report, no dates and no nominations... There will be just one league next season called Speedway Extra League. 8 four man teams with 7 matches per team in the regular season and playoffs for top 4. Was a bit disappointed that they didn't give the dates and nominations which they did last year. I do know that the speedway ind. final will be held by Kuusankoski, ice racing final will be held by Oulu (early march, dont book yet! ), Pairs at Lahti and Longtrack at Pori. The U21-ruling for the teams was scrapped and the joker-rule will be re-defined but will most likely stay. There will also be an ice racing training camp in Kuortane a week before christmas where they will decide the riders for the qualifiers.
  11. Jouni Seppänen will represent Finland in the Golden Spike-series while Antti Aakko will concentrate on the GP-qualifiers and possibly the series and the swedish league.
  12. It wasn't me... Says on masarna.nu that Laukkanen has a verbal agreement with Indianerna. He confirmed this last week when I spoke with him.
  13. Just received an email from ticnet saying that Monster Jam will be on show at Ullevi next june. I thought laying the speedway track was too much for the athletics track... http://www.monsterjam.se/ Couple of years ago when they had the MJ at the indoor Globen arena, they had speedway on show as well. Trick, AJ and Sullivan did some show laps for the public.
  14. There's a quote from Matt Ford on speedway+ saying that he heard a top rider getting 4000 £ just to travel... Big country, big money, huge potential. Also heard from a finnish ref who was there as an official in Vladivostok saying that the meeting he was in was brilliant racing wise. Local riders are on top equipment and no money is saved when it comes to the equipment. The world of speedway is changing, I see big trouble for the BSPA in the future unless they are able to find loads of british riders to fill the gap when the poles/swedes/danes and the occasional finn really start to ride outside of UK.
  15. I got it allright, think you said that the meeting only mattered to the top3? Well it actually mattered a whole lot more like iris123 pointed out. Cant see Ferjan getting a one single ride next season, but I'm with you that Stead is a better rider than Ferjan. Results from the qualifier here: Hans Andersen 33333 15 Peter Karlsson 33323 14 Wieslaw Jagus 33132 12 Rune Holta 32313 12 Chris Harris 21332 11 Kai Laukkanen 11223 9 Charlie Gjedde 12032 8 Piotr Protasiewicz 23200 7 Ryan Sullivan 21121 7 Matej Ferjan 12021 6 Simon Stead 22010 5 Renat Gafurov 10202 5 Martin Smolinski d0211 4 Mikael Max 00101 2 Robert Kosiecha 01100 2 David Howe 00010 1 Erä erältä: 1. 16. Indeed. Like expected the Euro's in ice racing took one of the best weekends of the Finnish season, and we now have two weekend's for the finnish final left in January, 6-7th and 21-22nd . The one left in February is too late in the current finnish climate. Why "left"? Because for the last few years it's been the target to have everyone available for the individual final. A target that failed miserably last year when Aakko was in Sweden for league racing and Flyktman was supposed to be in Divisisov for the Golden Spike (but wasn't). I know Flyktman has an intention to ride in the final this year, havent spoken with Aakko yet this winter. On another note! Dont have the time to check the facts now, but I have recently read in newspapers that Finland has been given the speed skating championhips (Euro or World?) for 2008, but the finnish speed skating federation managed to put them back to 2010. Why tell this.... Aaah... They want to have them indoors, and to do that, you have to build an arena!
  17. OK, thanks. I went trough the UEM site several times only to get the feeling that they are proud to have a congress of their own.
  18. The info is now on speedway.org but cant find it from uem-online.org
  19. Where did you find this, please tell.
  20. Actually it mattered if you were in the top8 and Stead didn't make it.
  21. There's nothing wrong in this thread in my opinion, and these were my thoughts yesterday as I read the SS interview in the SS. He was well beaten by Harris in the meeting that actually really counted (racing wise) and that was the Grand Final in Vetlanda. Harris beat him by six points and also in their heat which Harris won and Stead was third behind Laukkanen. So stop whining Simon!
  22. Thats what I thought but also that there's something more behind such a definite posting.
