2022 FIM Long Track
f-s-p replied to DutchGrasstrack's topic in Grasstrack, Sidecar, Short Track and Cycle Speedway
Some time a go the organising fee towards FIM for a SGP was 22k. So what? It HAS TO cost something. So does the ambulance and doctor. Also I believe that money includes the ref and jury president, might even include their hotel bill (it used to in UEM meetings). Reducing PRIZE money (paid by the organizer) that is directly paid from the organiser and is another 10k or several 10k in LTWC is the way to go... -

Approval fees as on prize money? Someone suggested that with Disvovery money the prize should be reduced for the next five years, even sent it to a CCP member. I bet nothing came out of it. -

6 months ago I would have said LT will die before ice racing. Now I'm not that sure anymore. LT is a discipline where an intermediate speedway rider can buy success through equipment and with that some dont bother. Increasing cost of travel, smaller prize money, less crowd... You do the math. -

I remember writing stories at the time, I just looked at total number each league... So even if I might have overstated it, not too much -
FIM Speedway Youth Gold trophy(85CC)

I honestly don't know. Introducing 250cc was the death of Finnish 85cc, since from already few a couple decided to switch, so not enough riders anymore to host 85cc meetings. A couple of kids from Varkaus have been touring the Baltics for 85cc heats in BSL, but don't know anymore about Sweden. Swedish 85cc used to have 100+ riders and in Denmark 150+ for 85cc and also 50cc. About 15 years ago... -

They paid extra 10M to get the rights. Where was the extra 1k for the tractor man to make the track right. FFS. -
Timi Salonen is the first Finn qualified or wild carded for the series since 2010 when it became a series. Nike Lunna was on the reserve list that year when the BV quali rained off after heat 8 or what ever and had the chance to ride in the Gdansk final, but declined. Niklas Säyriö was picked in the covid-final in 2020 and actually did reasonably well finishing 9th. Previously Kylmä was in a few final on a SE license. Before him Laukkanen had that fluke in Kaanaa, getting a wild card for the final having not qualified. Still he was one heat win away from the title. Before Laukkanen, dont think we had any riders in the final since Koponen late 70’s when he won a medal. Expecting Timi to finish in the top 8 after prelis on a track he’s never ridden before practise. He’s on spanking new rides and quality fresh engines. Beer is in the fridge, I’m ready.

It was a failure as well... EDIT: I'm not trying to be negative about everything. This "new" UEM competition is just another example of top-end development that basically is just a chance for someone to TRY and make a quick buck. It does not help IMO grassroots, from where there are no riders coming to take part in this competition in five to ten years time.

1. Was always gonna be poor and personally I think it's a stupid idea to have an U21 final at that (expensive) venue. 2. There will be a ACU licensed wild card and two reserves for the meeting 3. They were riding in a track they had no or little experince from. Gislaved especially is rubbish. Just because you can ride Wolves or Berwick dont mean you can qualify from a continental track. 4. Dont think so, U just need to get out more to ride the tracks that host the qualifiers.
