Matt Bates and Chris Mills riding as guest reserves for Diamonds according to SpeedwayUpdates website. This seems to differ from the Diamonds website which announced the signing of Dan Greenwood. Perhaps another rejection by BSPA for some reason. Should be an interesting tussle between the two Number One's judging by reports of last night's clash between Birmingham and Kings Lynn. -
Does anyone know anything about this streaming website please? It sounds too good to be true. If you sign up for $45 per season, you get live streaming of elite and premier league matches. I came across it on You tube this morning looking for any clips of action from the new 2014 season. I'm a bit hesitant however to subscribe without knowing that it isn't some sort of dodgy website just after you credit card details.

Reading BSPA news item this morning announcing the signing by Scunthorpe of Steve Jones. If this is the same Steve Jones who made a brief number of outings at reserve back in the very late 90's for Newcastle, he might just be one to watch. I seem to recall he had great promise with a classy leg trailing style, but had a really nasty accident when his throttle jammed open entering the first bend at Newcastle. He must be getting on a bit now if it is him (relatively speaking), but if it is him, I would love to see him hitting some big scores for the Stags

Aww - don't tell me Mike Cashley owns Brough as well!! So much for a plan being in place when last season ended Lack of respect landlord for your tenant - that might come back and bite you one day

At the risk of appearing naive, I have to say that I have always thought of Mark as a complete professional. Certainly in his time at Newcastle, he was a reliable captain and despite his performances tailing off after an unfortunate injury against Glasgow, he was always capable of going out and winning heats 13 and/or 15. Australian speedway must hold him in decent esteem following his role as team captain over the last couple of years. I do recall that he had a new lease of life after he joined us from Newport and his role was pivotal in helping the Diamonds be a successful team over recent seasons. Have I missed something?

Chuffed to bits with this team and congratulations to the promotion for: another year of speedway to look forward to in 2014 keeping the nucleus of last years team together which is a great advantage and which may not have been easy to achieve making an early announcement which removes the anxiety every time you see another team snap up good available riders The absence of an out and out number 1 to compete with the likes of Doyle and Cook might be seen as a disadvantage particulalry in 13 and 15 and also with the daft TR rule which I guess is still with us. However I reckon Ludvig can beat anyone on his day, young Rosen is an exciting prospect and I am sure he will be very competitive, and Lewi Kerr showed that he can live with the top riders and could now be ready to beat them with last year under his belt. Can't see many beating us at Brough and if we can better our away performances where we managed to throw key points away last year, we should in theory be up for another top 3 finish. Pity about Andrew Tully. Some might say he let us down at the end of last season, but as I recall he was flying just before he seriously wrecked his number 1 bike in laying down to avoid injury to another rider. I guess the expense of getting his equipment back together again may well have contributed to his poor (by his standards) performances at the end, particulalry the disappointing defeat at Redcar. Anyway, all the best to the team and hope Ludvig hasn't been downhearted by any criticism on this forum. I think any negatives have been expressed because we know how fast he can be, but seems to take a while sometimes to get going in a meeting. If he's number 1, that might provide the incentive to dial in much more quickly.

Jenga post 449. Not announced on Workington website at time of writing this so post may be premature or misinformed. Hope the latter

Both Worralls withdrawn from meetings last night according to speedway updates. Steve with reported hand injury and Richie with muscle/tissue damage to left thigh. Hope both okay for this evening. Difficult to replace our number 1 at such short notice and R/R would be a big ask of a 5 man team even if that was an option. Need 3 points tonight and could be a difficult one for George to call.

Ipswich Vs Newcastle Thursday 6th June 7.30pm
Aceslider replied to CardinalSin's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Watching the Sky coverage of the Lakeside/Coventry meeting it was noticeable that the tapes were not particularly tight from one end to the other. It was reasonably clear that there was a definite time lag from the tapes rising at the extremities to the central part of the tapes. If you watch reruns of the starts, you will see the fractional difference in movement which I believe is partly to blame for the differing views in this debate. Robbo is the last rider I would ever believe to be a "roller" and I believe he was genuinely watching for movement on the edge of the tapes. It would be interesting to hear a referee's take on what he or she constitutes to be a satisfactory start and would that include rider movement based on when any part of the tapes moves in an upwards direction. Anyway, this has gone slightly off topic and hope that Ippo and Diamonds put on another exciting premier league meeting this evening. Good luck to Andrew Tully on his late start to the season. -

Well done Ned, well done George and congrats to whole team and promotion. Ned and Starke showed the Devils what they had let go. Don't really care about the playoffs as so far as i am concerned we have won the league. Winning the playoffs will be a bonus! Superb to round off with an away win after missing out on so many and having to make do with a 1 point result.
