  1. Let's see what happens tomorrow...apology will be forthcoming if appropriate.
  2. I don't think that is relevant. From what was said on the Centre green this evening SW is likely to ride tomorrow in the British Final and as such appears to be putting that ahead of his commitments to his clubs. He isn't the first to do that and he won't be the last, but if we were to fail to make the playoffs by one or two points...
  3. We need riders who will do it when needed and not when it's too late to matter. I have great admiration for Ludde but he has been shocking this evening. There is, however, probably no point in making changes now as the playoff ship may well have sailed..,and it's only the middle of June. All together: "Stevie Worrall, he rides when he likes"
  4. I could not agree more. The league has now been watered down too far. The Terrace Grumbler manifesto includes : - a 45 point limit - 3 point lowest permissible average (wait, it gets better!) - unlimited tactical substitutions - regional rounds of the 4TT - a team's 3 highest averaging riders at 1, 3 and 5 - inter league ko cup Tsunami and Parky will no doubt say this is pie in the sky but it would bring back a good few people I know. The tactical ride was the death knell for a number of previously regular supporters.
  5. Sometimes he does, yes. Sometimes he doesn't. I love to watch Robert, but for me he Isn't half as ruthless as Kenni Larsen was, and Rene Bach was better at chasing the opposition down.
  6. How many points would be freed up if we replaced Lambert with Kus? This is of course an academic question now as we have re-set the reserves this week but er...just asking, like.
  7. I'll keep this brief. To my mind, for different reasons none of Robson Kus or Ostergaard would improve the team if Lindgren were - God forbid! - to go. Let's see how we go with Greenwood and Hopwood. I like Hopwood, he has the makings of a very decent rider I see Greenwood averages 7.70 in the NL which isn't too shabby.
  8. Lindgren and Kus - no contest in my eyes. I like Matej but his riding style is one-dimensional. Ludde can be a sharp gater when he's on his game, he can pass, he looks out for his partner* and he always tries hard. He's the last of the seven I would dispense with. Turning to the reserves, is this Dan "the Hsmmer" Greenwood who graced Brough Park a few years ago? * although not as well as Andrew Tully, of course
  9. It's a suggestion which is at least worth considering, and I suspect, Dandelion my friend, that we are not the only ones harbouring such thoughts. However - in George we trust. Truly the Arsene Wenger of the SGB Championship.
  10. There is nothing new in this sport - it's like what happened a few years ago when Poole made a team change which took them over the points limit but were given what was, as I recall, described as "special dispensation" because they weren't that far over the limit
  11. Rr is at 2. At the risk of being boring about it I defy anyone to defend the standard of the no. 7s in this meeting. The level of incompetence on display would be farcical if it isn't so dangerous. (I accept that McDonald is a last minute stand in). I do hope Coles proves me wrong but I have my doubts that he will.
  12. I'm completely lost now, sorry. Here's a thought. We have a long and proud tradition of non-scoring reserves who get a decent run - Mark Blackwell and Sam Dore spring to mind. Would Connor or Ben have beaten them? Answers on a postcard please to Powerful Reserve Compo, Newcastle Stadium, Byker
  13. I don't know what the rulebook has to say. In football it may have been red cards (raising a hand against an opponent) but the ref let it all go. From my spot on the terrace I thought Ronnie Allan had a pretty average night. The guy who berated him was bang out of order but I m afraid to admit that it made me chuckle.
  14. Newcastle supporters are wondering what might have happened if Worrall or Rose had fired...
  15. I was going to take a half day off and go to this. I decided not to when the team changes became known, and although I do wish I'd seen Ashley's performance, on balance I'm glad I stayed in the NE and we did something else. When the hard core gets cheesed off, the sport has real problems. (I'm not one of them, but you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind is blowing.
  16. Ok. On a different topic, I'm not sure about the title "Parked in Both Camps". Wouldn't "Nosey Parker" be better?
  17. I was impressed by the way Hopwood took heat 14 by the scruff of the neck - yes, he should have let Ludde by, but he can be excused a rush of blood to the head. You can tell he is used to leading races, and I'm not sure if that's the case with Coles. At the risk of being boring about it, to my eyes the league has been watered down too much and it's taking some getting used to, for me at least.
  18. The team (iirc it was something like Kenni, Deek, Rene Bach, Dakota North, Lemo, Jason King and Anders Andersson) would probably win the Premiership now, let alone the Championship. Great days.
  19. Sorry to see that Kenni has packed it in. Sad but not unexpected news. (I'm taking that from the SStar - sorry if it's been posted already).
