I completely agree on this one. I really don't see the Birmingham hype. I look at the team and see two heat leaders who could up and go at any point if the right PL offer comes along and one who is doubling up questionably. Of the other four three are largely unproven however any could step up and be "the find" and Adam has proved time and time again just what he is capable of! I think there will be stark contrast at Perry Barr this year with Birmingham & Cradley at opposite ends of the table.

Fully expected Danyon to be involved so no surprise there but have the other two ridden any competitive speedway? Don't remember the names from any MDL meetings and certainly not for Rye House last year. Andrew has been bang on so far with his signings but cant help feeling these are more about training school revenue / promotion than league contention? As I said I know nothing of George & Alfie so they could be superb..........time will tell
-
As much as it makes me harp on about the MDL again it sounds like Sanderson is a prime candidate for more time at that level before moving up? I don't see it beneficial for any rider to be thrown in before they are ready and subsequently dropped repeatedly at a young age.
-
I can assure you I have been to plenty of grasstracks and know there is a lot of talent there. However of the talented young riders with speedway potential I wouldn't include Matt Saul in that bracket. I agree its good practise for future speedway riders but still maintain that these riders should then progress into the MDL, learn the tracks & set ups, then be granted team places. However this is just my opinion obviously.

Still think it stinks how the others are being treated. Mullins, Sheppard & Couzins were going to race off for the 6,7,& 8 positions. Mullins drops out, the other two get the places & Kent search for a new 8? Seems logical but no instead there are others added to the mix, hardly a confidence booster for either rider. I don't think its likely that Sanderson would be travelling down to Kent every Monday night for just a number 8 berth.....I suspect he will want 6 or 7 or not at all.
-
Id rather see sanderson in than someone who has only mucked about on the grasstracks. There seem to be several riders that have got places this year without any proven speedway merit and IMO is a poke in the eye to all those who have been serving their apprenticeships in the MDL......

Its a good job I don't do smug.....who am I kidding im incredibly smug right now!
-
Hilarious. Mullins starts with nothing, gets sponsored loads of equipment then quits before the season starts! What a ....(insert your favourite expletive here)..... Then to top it off rather than boosting the confidence of both Sheppard and Couzins by stating they will be the reserves and we are looking for a number 8 Mr Hunt wants to view a lad from miles away and a lary grasstracker....... Whatever people think of Len Silver & John Sampford they have got to be better than the new numpty who has been brought in!
-
Is that a little insider info? Be good if the team does have team kevlars although unusual as the rockets haven't had them for a few seasons. If suits are being made then the final two riders must know who they are.....
-
Its just a premier league level british select. Not worth reading much into. I suspect J.Bates or J.Sarjeant & J.Auty or C.Wright to take the final places and produce to even enough teams to make it an even enough match.

What Are You Looking Forward To This Season?
Sings4Speedway replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Plenty of interest in Rye House after August............just not the PL team -
Phew! I normally agree / like your posts so was a little concerned. Nice to see you have returned to some level of reality
-
Of course. I fully expect Marc to move up and stay up at number one............great rider and still got more potential!
-
Whilst Eastbourne do have a rider in the Number 1 position (and as much as I love Magic) IMO he is one of the bottom two number 1's in the league this year. What you will get is a rider who is very professional, has excellent equipment and bags of experience which will prove invaluable to the rookies. Don't be surprised to see David sheparding home lower order riders for 5-1's on numerous occasions.
-
I stand by my statement regarding top 5 but it will be very close throughout I think. For me Cradley, Stoke then Eastbourne based on their reserves just ahead of Rye / Kent.
-
I think most teams will be pretty solid at home this year. For potential away wins I think Brum, Kings Lynn & Buxton look the most likely. Im excited I think this is the tightest league for years.......I don't think Cradley will dominate. Yes early season Perks will get a hatful but once he is the main body of the team it will be a very different story. Kent, Rye House, Cradley, Eastbourne, Stoke but in what order I cant decide......all going to come down to confidence and injury luck I think!
-
Kings Lynn Coventry Poole Lakeside Belle Vue Leicester Swindon Wolves Play Offs Cov Most in demand EDR.......Steve Boxhall....

Looking like a top side is being put together. Hughes can be class although a little too un-genuine IMO although now is his chance to prove it. Regular weekend racing might be better for him in terms of finances / taking time off work. Looks like Andrew has done a fantastic job so far.....
-
So Chapman has been given the green light to double up? Could open doors for a few other riders if the age limit is being ignored?
-
Don't we all mate. Stupid New Rules!

If Georgie sticks with it I can see him 4.5ish this year, 5 next year and then into the 6's and beyond in following seasons. There is no denying he is a natural on a bike Grass or Shale however there are a heck of a lot of setups to learn, gating techniques to hone & passing manoeuvres to perfect yet. To be fair I haven't heard Georgie claiming he will be at the front all year. He is just a young lad who wants to race bikes.

I think that's the benefit of a new stadium owner. The Silver family can deal with the finances of the teams whilst a cash injection can go towards the long awaited updates to the stadium. With the go kart track having desires for the land I think its a far more secure purchase.

2 out of 7 so far obviously got Richard Andrews wrong but hey ho. Sounds like the rest will be finalised shortly.

For 2015 teams will be able to include two National League riders in their sides at any time as long as they comply with the set of rules agreed. They must be British, not have a finishing NL average of over 5, have not been named in a Premier League 1-7 ever and have ridden less than 50 official National League meetings at the end of last season. Additionally one of the riders , if used, must start the 2015 season with a NL average of 3.00. Once a rider exceeds an average of 5.01 he will become ineligible to ride in the MDL although if their average drops below that figure again they will become eligible again. Quick question(s)....... Do no.8's count as one of the National League rider allocation? If a number 8 is used in the meeting would they count towards the allocation?
-
I think the averages dictate riding order to a certain extent so would be expecting to see us line up as per below. 1. Ben Morley 2. Danno Verge 3. Aaron Baseby 4. Danny Ayres 5. James Shanes 6. Rik Mullins 7. Jamie Couzens / |Adam Sheppard
