  1. Hi, If anyone has a spare copy of the above programme I would be interested in purchasing it. Thanks, David

Thanks, David
  3. Hi, If anyone has a spare copy of the programme from last night's meeting at Eastbourne, I would be interested in purchasing it as I was unable to get to the meeting myself. Thanks, hope to hear from someone. David
  4. Hi, Many more programmes added to the web site during the past couple of months. Please take a look. https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com/
  5. Hi, If anyone has a copy of the Kent Kings programme from 24 April 2017 they are willing to sell, I would be interested. Thanks, David

  7. Lots more items added during the past month. Please take a look. David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  8. It would be great to see speedway back at Aldershot. They have stock cars there on a regular basis. If only I had the money...... David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com I believe there will be teams racing in 2017 under the names of Exeter Falcons (at Somerset) and Reading Racers (at Eastbourne) and possibly others such as Weymouth either as part of a Southern Junior League or on an unofficial basis. Okay, it's youth orientated, but nothing wrong with that, and neither team has a home to call its own, but surely its a start? David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  9. Hi, I don't think the Hackney information is quite accurate. They re-opened for one season in 1996 as the London Lions and then again for one season in 2011 as Hackney Hawks. Sadly, the NOT RUNNING bit is correct. David https://speedwayprohrammes.wordpress.com
  10. I think I may know the answer already, but why does the SCB web site still have all of Coventry's fixtures listed on its calendar for the season? David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  11. Of course, this may not be the end for Coventry speedway. It certainly won't be if the real fans have anything to do with it. But then, didn't we say the same thing about Reading and Oxford and the faithful there are still waiting for something to happen. What another sad, sad day for British Speedway to see a club with the proud history of Coventry close their doors. Surely it wasn't beyond the wit of the BSPA collectively to prevent this from happening? No doubt like many of you, I receive a lot of gentle banter from friends (mostly football fans) about my passion for a sport that claims to be professional yet seems incapable of running itself with any kind of organisation or cohesion. Sadly on days like this I have to admit that they are right. David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  12. Lots more items added from the 70's and 80's during the past month. Please take a look. David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  13. Hi Arnie, I have now put together an itinerary of sorts together up to the end of August taking in every track in the UK for my Stroke Association project. That theoretically gives me September/October to cope with any postponements etc. I have slotted in IOW for Thursday 6 July. Sounds a long way off I know, but if you are planning to go that day the company would be great. On a wider topic, if there is anyone out there who is willing and able to support me with a donation of any kind in aid of the Stroke Association please send a PM via the Forum or contact me on pineprogs@gmail.com Thanks, David
  14. Calm down everyone - if they get wind of our grumblings they'll make it Wednesday - and then change them on Thursday. https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  15. Thanks very much Andy and Arnie for your help and advice. If you haven't heard about it from any other post, following one of my best mates suffering a double stroke just after Christmas, I have set myself the target this season of visiting every track in the UK and collecting sponsorship in aid of the Stroke Association. I have never been to the IOW track so wasn't sure of the travel logistics but guessed that the fastcat may be the most practical option. The other suggestion does sound like fun Andy, but there's the driving back to Berkshire afterwards and, I'll whisper it quietly, I'm 70+ years old. I am very grateful for the offer of a lift Arnie and would appreciate the company if it fits in with your plans. All we need now is the fixture list! I presume there are very few rain offs taking into account the wonderful climate you have down there. David
  16. Does anyone more informed than me know if there have been any further developments regarding the establishing of a Southern Junior League for 2017 and which clubs are likely to be involved? Thanks, David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  17. Just a simple question, not for the party. For those living on the mainland, what is the simplest and cheapest way of getting over for a meeting with the certainty of knowing you also have a ride back the same evening? David
  18. Isn't that what we all love about speedway and lures us back week after week? The disorganisation, unhealthy food and lack of any sanitary facilities. Set that against the smell of the methanol and the anticipation as the green light comes on and the engines roar. I know I do. David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  19. At this rate, my Stroke Association charity project (the first post in this thread) is likely to prove more problematical than I first thought. Here's me thinking I only had the unpredictable weather to contend with. David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  20. After a little more delving, it appears the AJL may have run continuously from 1978 - 1985 but I'm still not 100% sure. Reading joined in 1979 but for only one season. The following teams have all been members at some time during this period: Boston, Cradley Heath, Crayford, Hackney, Ipswich, King's Lynn, Leicester, Long Eaton, Mildenhall, Milton Keynes, Nottingham, Oxford, Peterborough, Reading, Rye House, Stoke, Swindon and Wimbledon. If anyone can help with any dates and results for any of these teams I'd be very grateful. David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  21. I seem unintentionally to have opened up quite a hornet's nest here. Whatever the reasons, it does seem quite extraordinary to me that we are almost at the end of the first week in February and still none the wiser as to the fixtures for this coming season. I notice most of the club websites are stating the start of the season to be 'Spring 2017' so nicely covering themselves there. As I said, my motives are purely practical if I am to achieve my goal of visiting every track and raising the charity funds target I have set myself, Some of the tracks are well over 400 miles from where I live so there is a good deal of travel strategy planning to be done to combine tracks within one trip etc and still manage to have a life outside of speedway. Without a fixture list, I can't even begin. David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
  22. Obviously many of you feel as frustrated as I do when I look at the SGB website every day and still no NL fixtures. Sadly, this is speedway all over - disorganised chaos. So far as my fund raising project is concerned, apart from the tracks within reasonable distance of home, it's impossible to even begin planning the travel strategy and booking overnight stays etc. As you say - very disappointing.
  23. Does anyone know when this is likely to be published? I'm doing a fund raising project for the Stroke Association this season involving visiting all the UK tracks and a fixture list would certainly help! David https://speedwayprogrammes.wordpress.com
