  1. Gillman speedway in Adelaide, Australia, has just announced the staging of the Speedway Sidecar World Cup. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday March 26, 2016. The following night, Sunday March 27, 2016. will see a round of the Oceania Sidecar title being run. Gillman Speedway manager, Mr Dave Parker and a team which included, Leigh Adams and Mark Lemon, have worked for a long time with MA, (Motorcycling Australia) to get the FIM to resubscribe the event as an official world title. I believe everyone is very pleased with the outcome. Clearly Australia leads the way in the promotion, professionalism and developement of this exciting sport. Think I can safely say all supporters and fans appreciate all the hard work these people have done behind the scene. The world title meeting will feature riders and teams from the USA, GB, NZ and of course Australia. This will be a great speedway weekend, with great racing. Ideal weekend away for some of you Europeans. To early for rider list yet, but many of the international riders have been going around in Australia in the last couple of years, achieving some impressive results along the way. Cant upload the link, however Gillman web address is; www.gillmanspeedway.com.au.
  2. What makes Formula1 unique, is the huge sums of money spent perfecting technology. Unfortunately that is also what makes it uniquely boring. What makes speedway unique is riders are essentially on the same machinery. In the purest sense, riders with greater ability and courage should win. Nothing worse to watch than predictable, processional racing in any motor sport. Hope speedway does not take the F1 path.
  3. Darcy Ward's ban has ended. Does anyone know who he is riding for now?
  4. Happened to Australia 2009, beaten by Poland, 1 point. Again in 2012 when we should have won for Crumpie; beaten by the Joker. Remove the point barrier and let every team use it at any stage if behind, except last 4 heats.
  5. Big effort to beat Germany, France, Holland at their own game. Go GB.
  6. This incident was on Australian TV motor sport show, major commercial station. They loved it, but suggested the riders could have taken their helmets off first. Two sports in one. Wrestling and speedway.
  7. Needs to be a good track so the riders can race, not just ride. Make sure there is a spare start mechanism, and it is a great spectacle. Then people will come back next year. If it is a success over a number of years then maybe we can put ourselves up there with Cardiff.
  8. Excellent response. Thanks HA. Just so frustrating to see us debating the same issues, whilst progression in the sport seems hog tied by all the in fighting and self interest. Obviously there is a lot going on that ordinary punters (like myself), are not privy to. Do know one thing. It will not be good if all these series are controlled and dominated by Poland and Euro riders. Non European riders will not get the same opportunities to ride in Europe if GB doesn't thrive. In any class.
  9. Why don't they run the series then?
  10. I like your posts, however for a long time people have been saying British speedway needs to adjust to win back elite riders and spectators. But nothing seems to change. With every initiative on the continent British speedway appears more insular and isolated. I checked the EL table 22/6 and Coventry on top have completed 17 matches; Swindon only 11. Rescheduled matches, rider replacement, guesting, on loan, doubling up, visa problems, and just clinging to TV sponsorship. I know promoters and riders need to make money, but it can be a job to follow the British leagues. Surely riders/promoters can make money participating in these other European series. I know us Antipodeans don't get much say in things, but isn't the opportunity there for British speedway to embrace these series. Or is it that One Sport don't want to involve British speedway. At least they are trying and whoever makes the money, speedway is getting good exposure. They provide good racing. The U21 and juniors can have riders from Australia, US, and Britain as well, so why not? It would be great to see some of these meetings at British tracks. The FIM represent all national speedway authorities, don't they. That last comment - a little tongue in cheek.
  11. I don't care what they do with Olsen. Just 'please' don't stuff up Melbourne. The GP here in 2015 is so important to speedway in this country. If they present something uninspiring it will be a disaster. Hope they have it sorted by October.
  12. That's not much, how do they survive, and do PL riders also pay engine tuners?
  13. Pedersen was hard, but not deliberate in his move on Hancock. Certainly has generated some chatter. What Sundstrom did to Doyle in the World Cup was deliberate, and he wasn't even excluded. The point is, they can all push the safety line sometimes, Pedersen just does it more often.
  14. No it isn't Least we were there. Didn't see GB make much of an impact. And thanks Robbie B. That was fun. Nice win R&R, maybe a bit of luck involved there.
  15. Hi R&R, thanks for confirming that. Yeah i forgot about the symbol, and your right, we run the counterfeit op 24/7 just to keep up. I'LL leave the exchange rate up to you.
  16. Entry for final DENMARK Pedersen Iversen POLAND Janowski Pawlicki SWEDEN Jonsson Lindback AUSTRALIA Holder Doyle Anyone but Denmark or Poland. Go Aussie.
  17. I seen something like this set up for the GP rounds. Looks interesting, so i'll give it a go. Tough spread i think. ROUND 1 Artem Laguta more $50 Kolodzeij less $30 Just to clarify; if Sayfutdinov scored 10 through the heats, made the final and won it. His score would be 13 and anyone who bet more on him would win.
  18. My entry for Race Off. POLAND Pawlicki Janowski USA Hancock Fisher GB Woofinden Harris RUSSIA Gafurov Belousov
  19. Got it. Thanks for the links, helpful.
  20. Is Artem Laguta contesting the speedway GP Challenge this year. I thought i read his name in a start list. Bit hard to keep up with everything sometimes as we dont get the TV and media coverage of the European season. Just trying to get involved.
  21. Sorry about the confusion. I used the scores off the SGP/SWC website, which are incorrect. Milik did ride the joker, as did Laguta. Once again thanks for your time. Being the official website, i thought the scores would be accurate.
  22. That's a relief, i thought i would be last. Good stuff. Thanks for your time Robbie B.
  23. Agree, he is having a wild season, in great form. Interesting to see if he can maintain through GP challenge.
  24. Hello Robbie B, I have made a quick check of my score and my total is actually 4 points less than my league score. Perhaps i am wrong, but you should check my score again mate. thanks.
