Cracking stuff! Thanks so much for posting. Fisher's move between the Scorpion's pair in the first two bends was sublime, as was the team riding afterwards, but what an effort by all 4 riders, and if it had ended 5-1 the other way no-one could have complained!

Hope this doesn't come back to bite me on the rectum, but I live a mile from the track, the weather has been fine all week, no rain at all, it's currently bright and sunny and the BBC reckons it'll stay that way all day. The weather shouldn't stop THIS one.

Latest weather update - Been no more rain since Boz last posted and, though still overcast, it doesn't look like we're about to get any more any time soon. Assuming the weather of the last couple of days hasn't done any damage (and even then, it's just been like a constant light rain/drizzle rather than almighty downpours) can't see any reason why this one shouldn't go ahead. Fingers crossed but all should be good. Watch it p!ss down now!

Well, you say that, but why hasn't it filtered through to the clubs/promoters after all these years? I've just moved close to Redcar's track and I've seen ONE poster so far - and that was for last year's meetings! Yeah, I know, that's Redcar for you. But I lived in Ware and followed Rye House for 4 years and never once saw an advert/poster for speedway! Many years in Edinburgh, never saw one once. Unless you buy a local paper, in many areas (I can't speak for all, obviously!), you might never know speedway existed!

When I started this thread, my question was about how you replace an injured 3pt #7. But your post is what was really in my head at the time because - and I hope I'm wrong, SERIOUSLY hope I'm wrong - I can see some trying TOO hard to impress, or make an impact, call it what you will. Can only hope it's the right sort of impact they make. For me it's too much, too soon for some. The good NL riders were getting rides in the PL anyway. That's how it works. If/when a 3-pointer gets injured, won't that open the door for someone else from the NL? (Maybe not, maybe you can just borrow another team's 3-pointer, I suppose).The rule has opened a door for some, but if they'd been good enough they'd have been offered a slot this season anyway, wouldn't they? No overseas rider would come 'cheap' enough.

Someone asked on another thread, "What happens if your 3 pt reserve gets injured in the first reserves race"? Basically an extension of my original question but much more pertinent and highly realistic. Does anyone have any clue?

If the high-average foreign riders weren't around, there'd be more spaces for British riders, but particularly in the EL, I would have thought.
