I think the team should be built around: Danny Warwick Paul Stark Dan Stoneman Adam Ellis Pleeeeeeeese don't sign Ross Walter!
-
Really pleased to see Paul Starke win and mixing it with some of the leagues top riders, hopefully the mechanical problems that have dogged his season so far are done with and in the few remaining meeting we can see what Paul is really capable of.
-
Brady Kurtz improved with every ride, to everyones surprise he was leading his semi final but slid of into the fence on 2nd or third lap.
-
Simon Lambert was unbeaten until the Final, Paul Starke beat him to the first bend and managed to stay in front to the Flag, Well Done Paul!

No Danny Warwick and no Mark Baseby ? Oh Dear! think we could be in for a thrashing! -
Well done Danny Warwick, Ben Hopwood Aaron Baseby and Adam Ellis good solid home performances, A positive return for Dan Stoneman with a good win in the reserve race. Kyle hughes had an off night which is a shame after his great performance last week against Dudley. What is wrong with Paul Starkes bikes? When his bikes are running well he rides like a heat leader but he has had very few meetings without mechanical problems! His equipment looks good and he has an experienced mechanic, such a shame as he should be one of our top riders not down at reserve!
-
Should we not use rider replacement then instead?
-
How can we fit both of them in? Has someone been dropped?
-
Anyone know who is riding at reserve this week? Someone said Dan Stoneman Had decided to give it another go?
-
Well, I won't dwell on the result other than saying in 40years of watching speedway that's the most dominant away performance I can remember. However, personally I think it was a very positive performance from the Islanders! despite being behind from the first race they put in some good rides. Kyle Hughes had a good meeting with some great battles to pass Dudley riders, Danny Warwick had a bad night but probably a good meeting to have an off day as even if he had been on form the result wouldn't have changed. Ben hopwood had a couple of good rides and Mark baseby should be a solid heat leader once he gets back into the groove. Paul Stark struggled again with mechanical gremlins but when he got his bike going he had a good win! ( IMO he shouldn't be a reserve, I think his avarage dropped because of the mechanical problem he seems to be bugged with, if he can get his bikes going he will be a real bonus for us at No 7!) Overall encouraging and I think against every other team in the league we will be fighting for the points but against Dudley last night we stood no chance! Well done to them for putting a great team together and congratulations on winning the title this year On the question of Adam Roynon, personally I enjoyed watching him ride last night even though he was never challenged, The same with The Worrall Brothers and Jason Garrity when they visited, not good for racing but great to watch and appreciate their class! PS Great to see Matt Read there last night, looking well and still enjoying being involved in the sport.

Looking forward to a close run meeting! I agree consistancy has been our downfall this season. Paul Stark should make us stronger at reserve however he has been as inconsistant at home as anyone and he is only eligable to ride at reserve because his average has dropped, if Gary had not had the injury it is likely he would have moved up to the top 5 anyway with the new averages. With no mechanical 'gremlins' we stand a good chance of beating Dudley however I think the choice of replacement for Dan Stoneman could be a deciding factor!

Speedy recovery Gary, Tuesday nights won't be quite the same without you there.
-
Encouraging performance from the Islanders, the first home match where all of the top 5 seemed to be on the pace and battling for points.
-
Stoke Sign Lambert (that's Simon, Not Robert!)

'Bin Gary Cottham' - based on what? Everytime I have watched Gary ride he has given 100% he has had some good scores home and away. If any changes were to be made Gary would definitely not be top of my list! -
So what do we think? Speedway or No Speedway this week. Anyone know how the track is after the weekend torrent?
-
Sorry Rhidassa, wasn't having a pop at Danny, just baffles me why we have so many bike problems at the moment.
-
It's all very well saying 'Danny had bike troubles all night' but surely turning up with equipment that works is part of the deal? I like Danny and he has done well for us so far and to be fair his bikes have been better than most of his team mates, But every meeting we seem to have at least one rider with 'bike troubles' are speedway bikes that unreliable or are our team just bad at getting them running properly?
-
Doesn't sound anyone was impressed with the Islanders last night. Aaron Baseby put in a good score, did he ride well or was it luck? Surprised at the negative comments on the updates forum about Paul Stark, he has seemed to be going well at home so far this season. The whole team has had more than their fair share of engine problems this year, with the lack of meetings surely theres been enough time to get the bikes running properly?
-
Yep, glad I only watched the updates, depressing!
-
Hope it is on, looking forward to a bit of speedway - even if i am just sat in front of the updates page

Crikey Builderbob, sounds like you want it called off!

I was hoping Nick would return soon as to be honest I'm not that impressed with Kyle, He's been OK but hardly a replacement for Nick. Danny was excellent on Tuesday, Shame about the fine but to be honest he's only got himself to blame! What he did was dangourous, however annoyed he was at the ref's decision putting himself and the other riders in danger was Crazy! Impressed with Danny Stoneman too seems to have got a bit quicker and a real racer. Paul still seems to have more than his share of bike problems, possibly why Ben Hopwood was in heat 15? Personnally I'd have give Danny Stoneman the extra ride. As for Rye, James Sargeant and Jason Garrity were First Class and Ben Morley looked good, Surprised that Luke Chessell struggled considering his experience around smallbrook and I imagine Ricky Mullins would have wanted to put on a better show considering.
-
Forcast looking OK for Tuesday so hopefully we'll get some speedway this week! Anyone know the likely line up? Is Aaron Baseby still in a replacement for Marc Owen? Any news on Nick Simmons?
-
Nice to get the win but could have been a lot closer if Richie Worral was riding! Ashley Birks was a pleasure to watch, Ben Reade, Tony Aitkin and Jamie Pickard all rode well and with Richie Worrall fit they could be contenders this year. The Islanders rode better than last week and all scored well however Ashley Birks made them all look slow! Danny Warwick and Paul Stark look to be our best 2 at home, I'm still not Sure about Kyle Hughes, he picked up some points but never really looked like winning a race, same with Ben Hopwood, rides well but still seems to be struggling for pace, Aaron Baseby is getting used to the track and scored well and Gary Cottham is going to be very useful at reserve with some good riding so far this year, Danny Stoneman rode a good race to take second in his third ride and looked very dissapointed that he only had the 3 rides! Another good meeting and good to see the crowd has improved!
