Also speedway being not like other sports is maybe the problem Football, Rugby League, Union, Ice Hockey, UK Basketball, Netball etc all big or growing sports in the UK do not have athletes competing for both leagues even if on alternative nights If my suggestion was implemented it would be done with an expansion view that after four years you could expand the top league once new riders have been introduced into the sport in an expanded national league where they have more opportunity Guests would be simple, can't get a replacement from the other league clubs so guests would be allowed from the national league or shock horror a club can sign a rider not racing in the uk as a guest or on a fixed term replacement contract Fans might see our best rider make a few appearances, plus less meetings might see a few names return

UK fans cannot built up a rapport or association with a rider if they ride for more than one club in this country. Would Giggs be a united legend if he'd spent 18years doubling down with Oldham, missing 2 seasons of matches because of injury and fixture congestion away at Grimsby on a Tuesday night?
-
Dan What would you do if your star rider misses the play off final and you lose it because he was injured riding for his other club In football yes you get injured representing your nation but a player doesn't get injured playing for another club I can't think of another sport where they borrow players/riders to make up the numbers

I promoted another sport which had international athletes compete within, we introduced streaming using three cameras and it was a huge hit 80,000+ viewers on one event tho it was a free stream but we still had 1400 through the door, funny enough I sold my stake and its now under the wing of the biggest promotion in Europe When I say high quality field, not high quality as in GP riders but ensuring the best of what we have now competing in the top league only Pick the worst two riders in the teams I put together, I'm sure on their day they could pick off 2 of the top 3 in the opposite sides

So how many meetings will shanes miss after this date?

When does the transfer window close?

There are not enough high ish standard of riders for one big league, I struggled putting together 8 teams. Some clubs have give, couldn't put Somerset in the Top 8 and take out other clubs, national league would be cheaper than the old premier league Somerset is a good track so yes why not give it a round of the british championship its either Somerset or Poole.... Well to be honest I'd say swindon once the new place is ready

Riders riding for more than one UK club is part of the problem in Britain speedway, riders miss meetings through injury riding for someone else To get any integrity back to the sport it should be one rider, one club, but speedway at present does not have enough riders, or is it a case of too many clubs?
-
Look at Tungate for example yes he rides in Poland, but atm has no UK club tho is probably fixed up. Is he pleading poverty? Stuart Robson, Kennett etc only do one league? I think its the case it's been made too easy for riders to double up, put all the top riders into one pro league and give them the exposure to cover costs in sponsorship
-
Yeah true but its the only realistic way I can see the sport surviving, the rest of the clubs should split into national league division one and two and have promotion/relegation BUT there are not enough riders to fill all those places It just can't continue in this state its been known for years with nothing done to change it Its sad to see I've been involved in this sport from birth

Ipswich V Berwick 15/6/17

I've posted my new era on the premiership page. Problem at the moment is.... regardless of quality of racing... 10 team league, home and away twice, that's 36 league meetings if you do all home meetings at £16 that's £288 before any away meetings Doesn't sound much but add fuel, program plus a couple quid on refreshments you're looking at £500 The league fixtures are dull, if you go after my idea of 8 teams home and away once for the league thats only 7 league meetings at home Would you miss any of these? I probably wouldn't but if its 18 home meetings I'd probably pick and choose and thats even if you win all the time Over 36 league meetings compared to 14, less chance for a team to pull clear at the top isn't there and each match is more meaningful If you supported a team at the bottom after about 14 meetings you know if you're gonna be at the bottom or not Speedway needs to be a less is more sport in terms of league racing Couple of cup comps, one a knock out where any team can win on the night creates a buzz. And a league cup format of a mini league again keeps things close over a few meetings unless you're team is so poor it loses them all Speedway needs breaking down into smaller competitions as a structure to start with -
Any feedback on this? British Premier League 1. Belle Vue 2. Kings Lynn 3. Poole 4. Rye House 5. Swindon 6. Wolverhampton 7. Glasgow 8. Belle Vue vs Ipswich Kings Lynn vs Gasglow Swindon vs Rye House Poole vs Wolverhampton Home & Away Legs aggregate winner going through, 13 Heat format, points 3,2,1,0 British League Cup Competition - Potential meetings for riders minimum 6 maximum 10 example of draw GROUP A - Bellue Vue, Glasgow, Rye House, Wolverhampton. GROUP B - Ipswich, Kings Lynn, Swindon, Poole. Home & Away Legs, 16 Heat format with two nominated Heats 15 & 16, points 4,3,2,0 to encourage team-riding Top Two Teams progress Winner A vs Runner Up B etc. British Premier League - Potential meetings for riders 14 minimum (7 H & A), 18 maximum (play offs) Each team race Home & Away once, under current 15 Heat Format, Top 4 into Play-Offs, League Winner gets pick of draw etc. Overall for the Top League of British Speedway that would be a minimum of 22 meetings per season or a maximum of 34 meetings per season, opens the opportunity for clubs to do "The Treble" as per other sports such as Football, team strengths are instantly stronger than the current system, however the challenge is making 22-34 meetings pay for riders in this league to make it a "professional league". Ways to increase revenue to pay riders in the top league more money 1) Less meetings may encourage more people to go so overall over less meetings you may see a bigger increase in attendance 2) Title sponsor of the League alongside TV coverage on a Platform like BT Sport, I would give the coverage to BT Sport for FREE 3) Associate sponsors of the League to further add additional revenue, after securing one main sponsor you could have upto 5 other paid sponsors. 4) Official partners of the league in terms of product support getting free product or heavily reduced cost for riders 5) Potential to introduce the Gehard Engine in this league across the board from 2020 onwards or the equivelant from another manufacturer if they produce their own version. 6) Secure a media partner to boost the profile of the sport such as TalkSport or a national newspaper 7) Secure a Digital/Social Media partner to boost the profile of the sport such as Sport Bible. The rest would be down to the riders to attract enough sponsorship to cover their costs, more exposure the more sponsorship opportunities for competitors. This could also be boosted by having a dedicated agnecy working for the sport on the riders behalf. BPLTV - British Premier League TV Alongside any deal with BT Sport, BSPA need to launch their own online streaming channel where you register and pay £6.99 per month to have access or pay a one-off fee for selected meetings at £12 Alongside the LIVE offerings from the selected television partner, BPLTV can provide an additional stream of 4 meetings per month minimum, host a weekly chat show/review of the sport, plus clubs can work with their own marketing/media people to regularly upload content with interviews, behind the scenes news for subscribers to watch, the more content the more likely you are to get subscribers. Have all filmed meetings available on a Digital Download 7 days after the meeting for people to download and keep on their Hard Drives for £5 For Argument sake, lets say 6,000 fans of speedway subscribed, that would be over £500,000 revenue per season, during the off-season they can put content on like classic meetings or interviews, podcasts etc. to keep people involved, the cost of showing 4 meetings per month (lets say 30 meetings) can be achieved at 1/5th of the total revenue, over 30 meetings even if you got an extra 100 people who are not subscribed but want to watch at a full price of £12 because of various reasons, thats £36,000 and say you get 15% of subscribers downloading their teams full season onto hard-drive, so 900 fans downloading 34 meetings at £5 each that is an additional revenue of £153,000 British Championship Grand Prix Turn the British Championship into a mini Grand Prix series over 5 rounds, get it on the Stream channell, sponsored etc. have a good prize fund for the riders and give ethe British riders the opportunity to earn money from this Elite series.... i'd take it to Glasgow, Kings Lynn, Somerset, Wolverhampton and finish at Belle Vue. I would say you would get 500 people paying £12 to watch each round who do not subscribe to the stream, with 1000 people paying for the 5th and final round, that would generate £36,000 after costs you could put £20,000 into prize money, if each round attracted 1,500 spectators at £12 per head and 50% of this was allocated for prize money coz other costs are subsidised by sponsorship that would be a total prize fund of £65,000 (£20k from the stream) If you are Danny King as an example, would you be happy with a 5 round series and being able to be crowned British Champion and take home £15,000 for first place overall? It's time the BSPA got their S%^T together and started to think out of the box as the sport will not continue past where we are now....

Did I just read there is a go fund me page to help nathan with bike equipment, for a rider that competes in two leagues? Seriously? How did riders in the past cope with no go fund me or other donation sites
