  1. We was both wrong, good signing though, will improve and be very quick around Sheffield
  2. I'm going with Midlands based Ricky Wells.
  3. Did not go bust, Odsal stadium was and still is owned by Bradford Council, who then decided to put the whole of Odsal area up for redevelopment along with the Richard Dunn sports centre opposite, all of which to this day has never come to anything, Odsal still is the same today as what it was when the Ham brothers had to give up on Speedway, I have lived in Bradford all my life, its very embarrassing to drive passed it every day, and think of what might have been, Bobby Ham then suffered from illness which forced him to retire, or take life a little more easily to which he did, but Allan still attends speedway meetings, has run World Finals, Semi finals, the whole bundle of meetings successfully.
  4. Is there anyone more qualified than Allan Ham in that sense, true business man, has promoted at speedway, can talk the talk with anyone especially local councils.
  5. Very, very, strong rumour that a Promoter has been found to run Belle Vue on behalf of the BSPA, on a temporary basis for the next two to three years whilst a permanent man is put in place, that promoter is Allan Ham, former promoter at Bradford.
  6. Need to ask one question after what has been a bit of a hectic week to say the least, Did or have Belle Vue sold any season tickets for the 2017 season, before the AGM and its disclosure of what's gone on, at the final meeting of 2016, and if so will these season tickets be honoured by any new promotion that may come in.
  7. Agree, Handy rail station next door to the Stadium, Nice pub too, is it still called the Rye House, by the way are they still doing the fish and chips at the stadium.
  8. Great News, look forward to visiting Derwent Park again.
  9. Think it was something to do with no supply of Tyres for the event, maybe wrong, but strong rumour at the time.
  10. What about the centre green at the National speedway stadium, does anyone use that facility, the centre green is marked out for use as a football pitch, a hockey pitch and I think a rugby pitch, all in different paint marking, surely everyone has seen them, does anyone use these, have they been paying rent to anyone, either NSS or Manchester Council, surely a stadium manager is required for them to operate all the year round, as well as a grounds man.
  11. Agree some people will have reservations about the move, but I honestly think Somerset under the current owners will do really well and ok next season.
  12. Yes, I agree, Woffy will be a bit upset knowing he's not going to be earning with Wolves next year if things go pear shaped in Poland and Sweden.
  13. Hope they keep Mark Lemon on as team manager, he's one guy who can really hold his head up high after all the shenanigan's this season, he is the only person at Belle Vue who can.
  14. What's Kyle's new average now then, over 10, if so he's the new No 1.
  15. I'm really sorry for you guy's down at Lakeside, I honestly believed you were heading for the second tier of speedway, the Championship level at least, I'm going miss them trips down the M11, really hope you all come back stronger team wise and track wise, and that you'll be back in proper action, that's showing no disrespect to the National league by the way in 2018.
  16. Oh my, What happened there, I've got a few questions to ask, 1, What were the promotion doing and thinking about all season, did they not have the sense to see problems evolving into quite serious one's, not paid any rent, debts to just about everyone. 2, Why did Manchester Council not seek any answers to their questions, surely there must have been some, or DID they NOT even ask any. 3, Why has it taken until now to do something about it. Wow, We are "VERY LUCKY" to have any speedway at all this year at the NSS.
  17. The problems with Plymouth this year from reading all the comments on here and elsewhere appear to be a problem with the promoter not the product of the racing itself, Plymouth are the current Four's champion's, so success has been achieved in that department, hope Plymouth do survive under a new promotion team, to come to the tapes next year, I look forward to coming to watch them even all the way from Yorkshire to see them at the Boniface arena next year if that is the case.
  18. Not Sheffield, made that very clear has Sheffield's promoter Damien Bates, with what is happening to Lakeside, maybe Lakeside swapping leagues with Kent or even Eastbourne/Ipswich for a period of two season's could maybe be an answer.
  19. Wow, never saw that coming from Lakeside, been to Lakeside twice this year, that for me is a 450 mile round trip for each meeting from my home in Yorkshire, I was at that meeting against Poole when so few turned up, now I know why, I found the trip down the A1,onto the M11, down to the M25 quite easy for me, just over and around four hours travelling time infact, but clearly coming the other way from the Kent side is quite horrendous by the sound of it, really hope if there are any people from Lakeside on here I'm sending my best wishes to you all and your supporters and really hope you find the right answer to the problem, just a thought, maybe Saturday racing in either the Elite or Premier league with a 3pm start time might be the answer, no football during the summer, easy for supporters from other tracks to get there as well, just my thoughts.
  20. Very sad news, great commentator, wonderful person, R.I.P. Dave Lanning
  21. See post 65 and 66 on this thread for the Newman expression, Can see Sheffield and Scunthorpe doing a deal to exchange riders on loan for the season, maybe swapping Bates for Ryan Douglas or maybe Josh Auty to fill that No 3 spot, Sheffield do not need an out and out No1, just five riders to turn Owlerton into fortress Owlerton, and nick that odd away win every now and again. That's what we need at Sheffield, this year at home, we never had all the top five clicking at once, that's why we lost so many Home meetings. Still stick by that Holder/Kurtz story though, hope there is some truth in it, but I'm doubtful.
  22. Saw that myself, not looking good for seeing Jason @ Sheffield next year, Stead will retire and take up coaching role, just like Tatum has done @ Lakeside, can see Ricky Wells at Sheffield next year, has done a lot of bookings for Sheffield, but where do people get the idea of Newman and Kurtz/Holder at Sheffield, all riding at Poole on Wednesday nights will be to much travelling for them in my opinion, 1. Howarth 2. Berge 3. ? 4. Proctor 5. Wells 6. Sissis 7. Parkinson-Blackburn Time will tell.
  23. Along with Steve Worrall, his brother Richie, Joe Jacobs, Max Fricke, just need to sort out the two other heat leaders now.
  24. Full list to be published after Melbourne, together with full list of the 15 seeded riders, fully depends upon ratification at the FIM Conference in November though.
