I agree, a very poorly worded and unprofessional press release. Remember the old adage, "the customer is always right". Behaviour of this nature will definitely not endear the fans. Perhaps an apology would be appropriate ?
-
What rubbish, at least the management made every effort to encourage people to attend.

The first time for BT cameras at the OTA We really need to win this one to keep the pressure on Poole, KL and RH for the 4th play off place.
-
Have you got bad eyesight or something. The ref got it spot on, Schlein caused Wright to fall. Jake Allens stupidity in ht14 could well have cost us the meeting, when all he had to do was hold 2nd place. Not at all impressed by his lunacy. Thank goodness we had a saviour in captain fantastic Joss G.

This promises to be a cracker.

Somerset V Wolverhampton Wednesday August 9th
Fred5 replied to racers and royals's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Damned if you do and damned if you don`t. In my opinion the management are 100% correct. -
Thank goodness someone else saw the dust last week, was beginning to think it was me who needed their eyes tested. No where near as bad last week as this week though, you may have been able to see it at Glastonbury Naijer.

Ref Speedway Star, Jake describes the track as atrocious and the riders have been complaining all season.
-
Rubbish

Perhaps he likes the track wetter and not a dust bowl ?

Crunch match for both teams in this bottom of the league clash. Two guests for the Rebels, Howarth and Ellis and one for the Lions, yet to be named. Ref the SGB forum, I read that Jake Allen, on behalf of the Rebels riders, has been critical of the OTA track preparation. Full interview is in this weeks Speedway Star.

What a load of rubbish. Absolutely correct.
-
From what I hear, their averages will be assessed, crazy or what.
-
The Rebels have 2 guests on Fri for for Paddy and Heeps and RR for Wrighty. Not the managements fault, but what a joke our wonderful sport of speedway has become.
-
I presume that Richard Lawson is riding for Glasgow at Worky on Sat, so as there is nothing on the Somerset website, who is the Rebels guest ?

Somerset V Rye House- Rye House V Somerset 19th/20th May

A fantastic evening of speedway and RH played a full part in some great racing. The score line does not fully tell the story of the great racing served up. -
Yes, the new averages do not start until all clubs have completed 4h and 4a, according to my discussions with Gary, which should be when Leicester finally get there, sometime in June. However I`m not sure how riders who have joined clubs recently, like Lawson Heaps etc, who may not have completed 4h and 4a will stand. Clearly the whole situation is a shambles and was not thought through.

Agree, if only the home straight and the 1st and 2nd bends were as close to the track as the back straight it would be fantastic.
-
Have been a Rebels fan for a number of years and have the greatest respect for Gary. He has had 5 great years in the old Prem and have no doubts he will do the same in the new Premiership, lets give the guy a break and support him and the team.

Team And Riders, Points Changeover ?
Fred5 replied to g13webb's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have heard it mentioned, that for a rider to get a new av, it is 2h and 2a -
Have now googled the Monmouth Rebellion, so fully understand why you guys in Somerset are rebels. A great piece of history and wonderful that the clubs name is based on a true event and is not just some fictitious name. Only natural then that the club adopted the Confederate flag as a symbol, very apt. As for the Obama rubbish, well we now know that it is just a piece of hoax news, so as I see it, no need to ban the Confederate flag at all. As other posts have said, to hell with left wing PC idiots, the club should stand their ground and fly the flag with pride, for Somerset are truly Rebels.

My first visit to the OTA, great track and facilities etc, but totally spoiled by the stupidity of the home fans having to take down their Confederate flags. Have seen the Rebels fans many times at Peterborough, Scunthorpe, Rye House, Sheffield and other tracks close to where I live, proudly flying their flag and have to say they are a credit to the club and speedway in general. They seem a great bunch of guys and always have good friendly banter and they are very sporting, applauding every race, win or lose. I stood on the home straight last night and when the announcement was made the fans were incensed, it seems as though, all but a couple of people, new nothing about the ban. Apparently, it was so called announced, at a function sometime last Nov / Dec, but has never been on the website, so most fans had no idea about it. Very poor PR by the management, if you ask me, seems they might be a tad embarrassed about the whole thing. Can`t see a problem with the Confederate flag myself , definitely not racist and who gives a stuff about Obama, just a load of rubbish by so called do- gooders. The fans were telling me that the flag is relevant to the history of Somerset, a few hundred years ago, although I can`t remember to much of what they were telling me. I sense that all will not be well with the Rebels after this, as fans were telling me that they will not be returning and those with season tickets will see out the year and not return next year. Just a view from an outsider, but could I suggest that the Promoters call a meeting with the fans to discuss the situation.

Well worth a punt I would say. Gm will weave his magic on Rebels.
