  1. Greg and the team had badges made up for their pit shirts and stickers made up for the boards at the Czech GP. We also had the privelidge of flying Darrens personal 'stars and stripes' flag on the night too. The speedway community are also going to get some wristbands made up with all proceeds going into a trust fund for young Jack. Even if you dont wear it, please buy one Booey and Sharon will never ever be forgotten. By the way, did you you know that Greg is the oldest rider in the Gp series??
  2. Best hotel is www.locandacastagna.com, 20 mins from the track
  3. You may know better but Kelv says that Sky is his primary employer these days and was in Prague 'on holiday'. I can only see him dropping Sky work on the GP's but continuing Elite League coverage with Nigel 'the home team is in red and blue' Pearson. Scotty faces an uphill battle for GP survival and I for one wish him well.
  4. I can assure all of you that GH knows the deal with Ricky Bobby. As for the drinks can, well you can add Harris and Gollob to the guilty list as well as Hampel with his Red Bull helmet design. At the end of the day they are only doing a job for their sponsors. It doesnt matter if you find it comical or not as its all about getting air time for the brand on TV. A few waves of the can during an interview costs thousands of pounds less than 30-second commercial but the exposure can have just as much influence on sales (although I would think many posters on here are unlikey to go rushing out to buy a can or two just because a speedway rider waves a can around!) Throughly enjoyed my first trip to Prague although a bit more passing would have been nice. What I still dont understand is why the Brits didnt get behind Scotty and Bomber as vocally as the Poles did for their guys. There was plenty of us there but most were motionless...
  5. Try here: www.locandacastagna.com 20 mins or so north from Lonigo and an easy ride down the autoroute from Venice-Marco Polo airport.
  6. Sorry but Wembley is joke - its the world's most expensive shed and it is built on an industrial estate. As has been stated many, many times on this forum, there is little or no infrastructure around to support such an event. Basically, you turn up, watch and go home - there is nothing there for the social side. Better to have it at one of the more traditional British tracks such as Sheffield or Coventry.
  7. On the face of it, this sounds like just another one of your self indulgent quips but you could have been right for once. By the way, Greg says hi and hopes you are keeping well. He hasnt forgotten you although you seem to have done so with him. Dont forget you dont score points in motor sport for if's and but's!!!!!!! Well done to Jason though - right place at the right time.
  8. Thoughts on Cardiff presentation: Freestyle MX: good but got boring quickly until the guy back flipped Belinda Carlise: Absolute rubbish - why do BSI think we will keep accepting this sort of thing? Thought they would have learnt from the Chas and Dave debacle last year. The other singer: Sang well, almost got the crowd behind him but who was he? Musical links during racing: Very good. Was spot on apart from the Adams/Hancock 'dead heat'. Thought 'Land of hope and glory' was an inspired choice for Bomber's walk back to the pits. Agree it was a little too loud so it got distorted. Most of the sound bites were as we have had at Cov but the W******** song was completely unecessary - another case of the DJ being too clever for his own good! Only other comment was the flame throwers - not 100% sure it was a good idea but at least it was different.
  9. Is the meeting being shown again anywhere on the internet? Got to be worth watching to see how upset Nicki was after getting beaten 3 times by The Grin
  10. I was there a couple of months ago - flew into Venice then maybe 40mins or so to Lonigo. As for a hotel, try this: www.locandacastagna.com A great place, run by a fantastic family that has just a few connections with the sport...
  11. At least the Grin only has one difficult race, the rest should be a breeze!!!!!!
  12. I believe Scotty Nicholls was also there. The track sounds to be well prepared and its 417 metres long!
  13. This is a great service - real shame we dont have anything like it over here.
  14. Meeting is definitely on the 25th - why dont you believe 'DutchGrassTrack'? There was an FIM email circular to all federations last Thursday
  15. Now Ive watched the tape, what Keith Heuwen actually said was that the stadium had a CAPACITY of 60,000. I would guess that there was around the 25,000 there. I heard that the organisers were claiming that only 17000 tickets had been sold upto Friday night
  16. See what you mean now, although the black can hide some of the more subtle detail. Anyone know what this frame is supposed to do and anyone got any decent pictures of it?
  17. The track for the stock cars is completely different - check out the Veltins webcam. Track was disappointing - no dirt on the outside, one line only, uneven gates. The riders I spoke to before the meeting said practice was fantastic - so what went wrong on the night? Overall though, it was still worth the effort of going.
  18. His frames have been black all year except for a couple of rides on standard stuff - guess its the same kind of deal as Jonsson's frame in that they are all looking for something extra. Great to see The Grin so competitive again.
  19. Ole Olsen described it in Speedway Star recently as bigger than Cardiff at around 300 metres. It has longer straights, which may explain why it looks narrow and wider bends. Shape similar to Vojens.
  20. Just found this webcam on the Veltins Arena site so you can watch the track going in: http://www.veltins-arena.de/index_en.php Just click the 'webcam' button on the left hand side.
  21. Any news on Heffenbrock after his crash last week? Much as I want to see Smoli in the GP, I dont want it to be at the expense of another injured rider.
  22. Sorry if this is anywhere else but who do we reckon will be the wildcard for the German GP? Despite my obvious bias (C'mon The Bees!), my money would be on Martin Smolinski but I guess Heffenbrock cant be discounted.
  23. Found this on the Daily Express Online: http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/12011/...in+a+Millennium The headline 'Hero Harris: One in a Millenium' made me smile but its just a shame they didnt have a picture of our hero! As one of those who doubted him in 2005, well I was wrong (and how!!) and I hope he goes from strength to strength. The way many Poles were chanting his name on leaving the stadium suggests his fan base isnt just in Britain...
