  1. I highly doubt he is the last rider. There are plenty of jobs that can be fitted in around speedway. Steve Worrall has his own business doing campervans, Richard Lawson was quoted in an interview about how he works as as plasterer. Simon Lambert has a timber yard. Ben Barker is a wagon driver.
  2. He is just the announcer, and actually quite a good one. Clear and interesting.
  3. My feeling is that the management/owners are fairly sensible and wouldn't have spent the money on the new ref's box or the 3rd and 4th bend viewing if there was a chance of a few bad weeks would send them under. I know this is speedway but surely no one os that daft? Surely? My understanding is that there is a long term plan to have the track and facilities up to FIM standard - the work on the pits is an example of that. Again, it would be really daft to have those future plans yet to come undone by a few bad weeks early in the season. I sincerely hope it can be resolved.
  4. Cash only is due to the unreliable signal/lack of phone line to the arena. Say what you will about this but as a business owner myself, I know how much each transactions costs to take a card payment. If the management team are spending time counting cash rather than paying transaction fees on card payments. then I don't think that is unfair or illegal. It just means they are getting every penny that comes through the gate. And most teams will certainly need that right now. To call the team running the club crooks is completely unfair. They have achieved something spectacular at Workington and they deserve every success and good luck.
  5. Thank you, all I can find it the start time for the sprint race and the main event. I can't seem to find if there is a fan zone or what time gates open for fans?
  6. I'm trying to find a time table for the two days. Can anyone help? The official FIM site goes to an error page when I google it. https://www.fimspeedway.com/rounds/fim-speedway-gp-of-great-britain-manchester-r4
  7. I once travelled with a meeting official and we were waved into the stadium free of charge. Team manager fair enough, but me? I went and paid like everyone else. Later on in the pits (before bikes started and fans allowed in) I was chatting to an acquaintance who had also come in with a meeting official only they had not gone to pay like I did. They could well afford it and were boasting about getting in for free. I'm not looking for a pat on the back just making a point that some people are freeloaders and British Speedway needs to be stricter about their guest list!
  8. The NSS is supposed to be the jewel in the crown for British Speedway but the more times I visit the more I feel it is a massive case of the emperor's new clothes. Parking is chaos once the carparks are full and the marshals are on the gate for access but not to manage how people actually park in the school playground. They need to go and watch the Workington parking marshals, Northside looks like a work of art once they are finished. I accept that we shouldn't take food in because the fast food outlets expect to make a living from serving up those atrocious burgers. But the food and drink outlets are generally poor and the queues are long. Something has to give. Maybe a 'corkage fee' of a quid to take your own picnic in? I also really resent not being able to take a drinks bottle of water in. Surely in this day and age we should not be buying bottles of water unless it's a preference? Moaning aside, it is possible to get there by public transport especially if you don't mind parking up further afield. We've started using a parking space app and hopped on a bus. More expensive than a space at the stadium but the stress was zero.
  9. Apologies if this has already been mentioned but I believe the streaming cost is fixed in part so that tracks don't end up with empty terraces. A percentage of the cost goes back to the track. That is why the cost is closer to an entrance fee otherwise tracks would never allow streaming.
