  1. TWK, I was being partly serious. We use the same "R" oil in my son's Grasstrack GM as i used in my Jap 40 odd years ago, difference is I can't smell it now like I could then. Maybe we become immune to the smell.?
  2. Maybe the sense of smell deteriorates with age ?

WHAT IS GRASSTRACK ? For anyone unfamiliar with the sport, here's a brief explanation of Grasstrack. BRISTOL GRASS RACING COMBINE The Club is a small group of enthusiasts based in Bristol, mostly current or former riders. 4. Thanks ! The mention on the front page caught my eye as I have family close to Ringwood , I was really disappointed when it turned out not to be a new track at Matchams .

    how about...

BilaHora "one really needs to accept that bonus points serve no purpose whatsoever" There is another way of looking at it. Surely one reason bonus points are awarded is to prevent riders from the same team racing each other? Paying a rider the same for 2nd (or 3rd) behind a team mate should mean he will settle for that place for the sake of the team.
  9. Seeing the Russians at Wembley is one of my earliest Speedway memories, ( was only 9 at the time), I remember one of them, Vitaly Shilo? crashing, either at the start or going over the start line, may have finished his career, never heard of him afterwards. We also went to the 2nd or 3rd Test at Coventry, the Russians went much better there, the score was a lot closer. A few years later in the early 70s, remember seeing New Zealand v. Poland at Exeter, Plech & Mauger were awesome, both breaking the track record.
  10. Went to the 1964 World Final at Gothenburg, I was only 8 at the time, we went on a really old & rattly prop-powered plane from Southend Airport, don't know if that was with the Speedway Touring Club. It was only a day trip, when we got to Gothenburg it was p###ing down, thought it was a rain off till they put tons of sawdust on the track. Briggo 1st, Plechanov 2nd, Fundin 3rd? It really sticks out in my mind as my first trip abroad.
  11. Soren Sjosten also rode for Bristol in 1977 or 78.
