Trying not to labour the point I am Biased!
BANG ON SHODDY! I could not have said it better myself. 100% correct.
One of those other winners Barry Briggs who, just beat Sverre Harrfeldt in 1966.
3rd Antoni Woryna
4th Ivan Mauger
"In Sweden"
Just to point out Sverre could ride a bit in his time and not only at Custom House! 8)

Ye'r fair comment your Majesty :!:
Topic however, very subjective, who rode in what era, how many titles won, World Champs, Gran Prixs Etc.
So Must be Tony Rickardsson! Best at present, still riding, most titles
and will probably still win more!
Sverre Harrfeldt would have given him a run for his money though!
To be fair I only saw Ove Fundin a couple of times at the back end of his career so did not see him at his best !
Barry Briggs impressed me but never inspired me!
I saw Ivan Mauger early in his career and he was always solid! and if leading, normally never beaten!
Ronnie Moore was my favorite of the above just for his style, however IMO Sverre Harrfeldt was the most exciting rider of his day and if he had not had that crash in Poland, could have been one of the great's!
Custom House had a Dog Track Wouldn’t call that tight!
I only saw the stadium in the 60s and 70s in 66 the old timber stand on the first bend was unsafe and the old pits where moved to the third bend.
Then the back straight stand demolished! (I stood there ).
I should imagine in its day hard to beat the size and atmosphere at Custom House!

As i remember on the night, Tony Clarke was head and shoulders above everyone else! (clockwise) Was it the right way round for him :!:
:?: was he a leftie!
Am I going mad :?: but I seem to remember going to Hackney one night in the 60s or early 70s and think, Tony Clark of West Ham at the time. Won a race in the second half of the meeting riding the track clockwise :?: Is it possible to set the bike up etc :?:
I dont think the Meeting was a leauge or Cup match, but some type of 4 team event or charity match! All dreamt up by Len silver!
Can anyone else remember it or anything like it or am i just loosing my marbles
A colleague of mine tells me he used to ride at Romford in the second halves etc!
His name is Alan Willis! can anyone remember him! or is he pulling my leg :clown
He says he was the only rider (other than a Czech rider) to put himself and his bike over the wall :!: This i could beleive
Can anyone shed some light :!:
The bombers rode for three seasons at Brooklands stadium Romford from 1969 to 1971. Prior to that they rode at Rochester :!:
Following this they took over at West Ham, when the developer had a change of heart, prior to the redevelopment of the site for housing. :-( :-(
I'm very sad to hear the news about Ken!
My 1st season of speedway was in 1965, when the hammers won the British League, London Cup & Knockout Cup. I was 9 years old at the time and was in awe of Ken Mac, Severre Harrfeldt, Norm (the storm) Hunter, and Molly Simmons.
Severre was the heartthrobe! and Molly made the difference with his points at no 6, but the HEARTBEAT OF THE TEAM was Ken Mac the best captain and team rider ever to sit on a speedway bike!
My thoughts are with his family and friends
Thanks for all those wonderful memories Ken
