  1. I suppose you could do worse than picking the bones out of last October/November's 'The Way Ahead' posts. Well...........it saves re-inventing the wheel dunnit??
  2. Try pe-posting as a new topic. You may have more luck.
  3. Just a gentle reminder folks......... It's that time of the year again. To help us guys and gals who like to follow the 'Future' threads can I remind you that 'The Way Ahead' exists for these threads. Quite a few have being posted on the other forums of late. Ta
  4. All's not lost as far as Mark's concerned.....If he WANTS to try again he could always try the qualifiers where the tracks and the format might suit him.
  5. Sorry Ken, I've got nothing for you but I do have some 30 year old cine I need to convert to digital. I have a projector and a digicam. Is there a knack to getting decent quality copies?
  6. Now who would you trust to spend that wisely?
  7. I dunno though................ You all buy me a lottery ticket I'll see what I can do!!
  8. Ahh.........but it's warmer in the winter than up country. Still no sign of any speedway though!!
  9. So do I, but it should be sited where most of us can get to it without suffering the agonies of getting into and out of London. Decent road, rail and air links are essential. Birmingham? Manchester? (no...too wet), Bristol? Can't think past Manchester guys. It'd be too far from Cornwall.
  10. That's what business is all about Trees. It's why I and many others on this forum go to work. Why expect anything different from JP and BSI? Yes they could drop the series in the blink of an eye in just the same way they took it on in the first place but why would they want to as long as it turns a profit and potentially a much bigger profit. They aren't the only ones making a living, or part of one, from the GP's. Think of the hundreds of people involved in staging just the British GP in Cardiff. They all got paid and the money came from where it always does, the paying customers who want to see the show, whether they paid at the turnstyle or paid their Sky subscriptions. We wouldn't think of criticising ITV for employing actors to appear in a drama only to drop them at the end of the series. Same thing really.
  11. Is the final format set in stone yet? My thinking is that regular underperformers should be sidelined after, say, 3 consecutive failures, to be replaced from a pool of those who just missed out. I haven't thought out the detail yet. What do you guys think?
  12. How about charging SGP or SWC admission prices to cover some of the prizes? Think I'd watch this on Sky.
  13. Beware of catching the last tram back into the city though. You'll find it will quite happily pick up passengers at stops you won't recognise as it makes it's merry way back to the tram depot. Not the end of the world though..........just wait there till the night tram comes and stick with it. It will eventually cross the river and you can breathe a sigh of relief.
  14. Stay with us Middlo.............. I said it last year and I'll say it again..................Your Country Needs You!! Excellent work. Surely even better times are ahead.
  15. As you mentioned in another thread Karl...............Speedway is now a betting sport. You can't have a credible betting sport allowing this to happen.
  16. It could be much more serious than that........ Does anyone know the odds on Skybet continuing to sponsor a sport with no open disciplinary procedure?? I fear that speedway doesn't deserve to move forward while we allow these sorts of things to happen. It matters more when there's money in it!!! P.S. Nice to see an Ipswich fan making some sort of comment on what happened.
  17. I don't imagine anything will happen either..........especially as the 'authorities' would probably ask for a report from the Race Director and the referee.
  18. Yes mapo2. It's been aired before. We still need a body to oversee and improve refereeing quality. It's been mentioned in one or two replies tonight that this ref wasn't up to the mark, and not only tonight. Judging by the amount of time he spent on the phone querying him I think Ole Olsen thinks we need one too. We also need a disciplinary body with teeth to punish riders who overstep the mark.
  19. Y'know, Y'know, Y'know, Y'know, Y'know, Y'know, ..............................Y'know, I've got no idea!!!! Anybody else know?
  20. Minor error in heat 1 Shawn. If white scores, the score also appears in the 'yellow' running total. Seems ok in the other heats though but I haven't tried them all. Should the coloured headers read Team A etc? Nice work, thanks.
  21. A step in the right direction though, even though we couldn't have the definitive article from day one. It's by no means certain that more than one of a rider's teams would qualify so it may not be so much of a problem. My guess is that riders would gravitate towards their strongest team leaving others less keen to sign them which would ease the way forward towards one rider, one team. It may just work.............
  22. Kevin, Just as footballers can be cup-tied, couldn't riders be restricted to riding for just one of their teams in the European Club Championship? It would obviously have an effect on their contractual negotiations but it would be a feasable way forward. I'd love to see foreign club sides here competing for something worthwhile and I'm sure they'd like to see ours too.
  23. Thanks for putting dirt on the track. This was a GP for the racers. Anyone disagree?
