Nice post Paul but why do you have 8 riders?
My top Newcastle riders:-
1- Ivan Mauger
2- Ole Olsen
3- Anders Michanek
4- Tom Owen
5- Joe Owen
6- Ron Henderson
7- Robbie Blackadder
The old Belle Vue track was ccertainly the best, for older posters I'm sure
the memory of Peter Craven blasting round the boards will bring back
memories. Later of course there was Peter Collins and Chris Morton.
And the funfair
Iknow its an old question, and I must have known why in a previous life,
but can't remember now, but why anti-clockwise, when the majority of
people are right handed. It makes more sense to go the other way!
Not everyone on the site can claim to know what this man did for
speedway. He was an innovator when speedway was in the doldrums.
I am saddend, but his legacy lives on. A true man
Can anyone remember anything about the Arrows. I recall it was at the
football ground, and in the stand you were so close to the riders you could
touch them. I have forgotten the promoter and any of the riders. As far as
I recall there was only about six open meetings.
Just to finish off the rivetting views on postage. Page 2 of the Star states
its registered at the the Post Office as a newspaper.
Now I'm a saddo as well.
what a good looker Grachen is. But I digress.
What let the Mail down was it looked like the SUN. Although it had top writers and photographers, it always seemed to be a poor mans Speedway
Star. Maybe there is only room for one national magazine.
