  1. With a potential inquest to follow and fans who will refuse to line the pockets of promotors who treat their own fans as idiots, I would of settled for telling the truth and the fine. Better still, how about signing Adam so his first meeting in Birmingham colours he could actually attend?
  2. To be honest, you aren't far wrong - They should be able to have guests upto his average for 28 days and then a 2.00 after that period for as long as they wish. Funny old sport!
  3. Yeah - or just lie to your paying public. Whatever floats your boat I suppose.
  4. http://www.speedwaygb.co.uk/news.php?extend.36461 Trouble in the ranks at Scunthorpe it seems!
  5. The confederate flag was dropped quite some time ago, way before this season.
  6. To quote the match report: "Scorpions were already up against it, when Jason Garrity broke down en route, with only a junior rider (Lewis Millar) available as his replacement." ------------- Like has already been posted, there is no excuse for why he couldn't of made it to the track. He obviously just didn't fancy it.
  7. There was pictures on the Facebook page of the track being watered before the meeting. Wasn’t it sunny Wednesday?
  8. Simon Walker was another like that at Somerset. I think one season he was upwards of 8.50 at home and about 4.00 away from home. He would ride round the boards and beat anyone at home from the back quite often too and was great to watch. He became a real fans favourite because of that.
  9. Nothing being ‘moaned about’ in the the two posts between me and oldtimer. More a trip down memory lane with probably the best team we ever had, especially for entertainment purposes. Remember when Alex Davies flew over the back straight fence and then came back out and won 2 races afterwards. That was quality. I am hoping to still be able to get to a couple of matches in the summer. I asked about the track earlier in the thread and have only had replies to qualify that the outside of the track is non existent at the moment. Is that right?
  10. They were the days when the 2nd division was quality - we were spoiled with a great racetrack and watching a quality team of racers too. Add Charles Wright and Alex Davies to the riders you’ve named too. Quality entertainment week in week out. You’re right on that last point too - where I stood there used to be a group of 10 or more I expect and it used to be crammed for space. Last year it was just me and Willowman.
  11. I'm not sure why anybody is amazed at the tactical sub move - Rogers has proven time and time again over the years he is shocking when it comes to making tactical moves and I'm amazed people continue to employ him to do so. It's great what he does with the younger riders but a tactical genius he is not.
  12. You and me both - it’s acrually probably the most ‘un-Somerset’ team there has been since we had Steve Johnston at number 1.
  13. That’s both sad and worrying to hear. People perhaps just aren’t prepared to pay £16 for Chanpionship after paying near as damn it the same for Premiership speedway. As last night proves the gulf in class between the two is huge.
  14. I know it was a challenge match but this just proves the gulf in class between the top 2 divisions. People who tried saying “they are basically the same now” couldn’t be any more wrong. If Poole had their usual reserves it looks like they would of hit 60 comfortably. What’s happened to the track again - in the week we had ‘great action’ which a few years ago wouldn’t of made the top 100 races in a season list, now from reading the updates if you move off the white line you go backwards?? Perhaps someone who was there could clarify.
  15. I certainly don’t think Buster is the saviour by any means, but why do all Peterborough fans treat Rathbone as the messiah? It was him who sold the club to Chapman and ultimately is to blame for anything and not Buster, as he shouldn’t of sold in the first place.
  16. I couldn't agree more. That was pretty much the response I got from some when I have been critical of Somerset dropping back into the 2nd Division. From what I can gather, as I haven't been yet this season, I'm not the only one and crowds have been pretty poor as a consequence.
  17. Nobody has blamed the track as far as I’m aware for Poole losing - they have just commented on how bad the track was.
  18. Jack hasn’t been great anyway yet this season in this country and in Poland. However, Poole was always his second choice this year aswell as he wanted to be at Somerset originally.
  19. And? He can’t pull out because it might not be financially viable to make as much money. He only shouldn’t be riding if it’s impossible to be in two places at once. It’s been proven it isn’t impossible so he should be riding.
  20. Agree with everything you’ve said. It’s typical of British Speedway to cure one problem of riders missing non stop through clashes of fixtures and riders guessing here there and everywhere to still allowing guests for the top 3 riders in the averages. It should be guests for your no.1 and reserves and then again only if there are 2 or more riders missing through injury. Good win for Somerset which puts the pressure on Eastbourne to go there and get a result, which I expect them to manage relatively comfortably. Kurtz and Grobauer seem extremely flaky as expected whilst a half astute team manager could of won it for Birmingham by giving more rides to Castagna.
  21. SomersetBlue albeit a passionate Somerset fan, has a tendency to be very biased. I myself thought Somerset had one of the best heat leader trios in the league but as has been said Harris will throw in plenty of duff ones and with Covatti missing, it decimates the whole team. It amazes me people keep talking about Somerset as being 'up there' and 'one of the favourites'. This has to be worst Somerset team assembled for many a year. Probably the worst since we ended up with Lubos Tomicek at number 1!
  22. Exactly the reason I find Harris so frustrating and why it find it really confusing Somerset signing him, as he doesn’t fit the mould of rider we’ve traditionally signed. On his day and even at this stage of his career he can still be brilliant, but all too often there is always an excuse about poor bikes, getting the set up and just in general not at the races. A 5 point return in this league is shocking for a rider of his experience. Somerset looked semi decent when Berge was in the line up but they will be all too flakey. Some weeks they will hit 60 at home and then others they will take an absolute battering just like last night. The current line up won’t be anywhere near the play offs though.
  23. No idea about Castagna, but I’ve been told Covatti is due to miss quite a few weekend matches.
  24. If rumours are to be believed, the first of many that he will be missing at a weekend.
