Oh, I think he's running!!!! -
In case people are wondering, there IS a thread for the Laurels but - as BSF protocol requires - it's over in the Testimonials, Shared Events , Indiv. part of the Forum.

That's right - the Canary Islands are not independent and politically is part of Spain. Wikipedia says this of the former CL Pairs & Indiv champ and current Kent CTA Fire King, Benji: "is a Spanish-British motorcycle speedway rider....Compton is the first speedway rider with Spanish citizenship to have signed a contract with a Polish club (Polonia Piła for the 2009 season) So that would suggest he has dual nationality...

Ha, somewhat ironic to see you champion the cause of "unbiased comments"..! Why do you have such a downer on Kent and so many of the young riders? Does you no credit at all. -

The way this tie has panned out, I guess, shows that KLYS can get through with Robert just riding the home legs!!! -

'Coming over' is not really accurate considering we're talking about a Norfolk lad who goes to school in Norwich! And 'school' is the operative word - he's at school because he's 15 years of age (and only just at that!), so no issue of him being allowed to ride PL let alone EL! Quite agree - Lewis Rose is doing really well and deserves a great deal of credit. -
Cheers - I can understand the logic. The system though, massively favours a team who picks low average riders who over-achieve against those whom pick high averaged (in the first place) riders.. I'd love to know the EXACT rule and formula that saddled Stevie with an 11.38 average, though; coz I've pored over the rule book and can see nothing which justifies the maths of 11.38...

It's actually (rain-offs excluded..) 8th July when Steve would get to 4 NL matches and so 7 days after that is the 15th. (when Stoke visit) - not sure if the new, lower average would take effect in that match though. Perhaps the match after? What I'm not clear on though, is how average changes affect others in a team. So for example at Kent we have a rider given a crazily high average (11.38) and so this affects the remaining points available for the lower order riders. At, say, IoW they have a rider of 3.00 who's scoring massively: Adam Ellis. When Adam reaches 4 matches in the NL and his average is recalculated, this will be somewhere near the ten mark I'd guess. That would put the Islanders total way over the 40 mark but it DOESN'T mean they're forced to drop riders to get back to 40. Nor should it - as that would punish success and also discriminate against some riders because of the success of others. But then if that's the case, does it follow that Kent can or can we not stregthen based on a reduction in Boxall's CMA..? It is all pretty confusing...

Cheers!

Averages can't change until FOUR league matches ridden. Yesterday was the CTA Fire Kings' and therefore Steve's second NL match. Won't get to four until July 6th. Then not sure when they change; but if it's not 'til the end of that month, we're looking at Steve not getting a realistic average until August!!

Well I doubt there are many who study weather forecasts from a range of locations as much as us Speedway fans! I can confirm that in my experience over recent years and this week, the forecasts are virtualy never worth the 'paper they're printed on' - well they're actually on the internet so not on paper at all, but you get my drift!! Planning to go to Cov, I 'checked' on Wednesday and if you believed that, you'd have to had concluded, not a chance of the meeting going ahead. Said rain all day and all evening. But in truth, the '5 day forecasts' are ALWAYS utter nonsense - no forecast for three days hence EVER stays the same come that day. So it proved and I felt confident on the day to go. And it was inded fine. But even then - as has been pointed out - the forecast on Friday said showers expected early afternoon... When I got to Brandon was told: no, there'd been NO rain at all and indeed some last minute track watering was as a result needed.. There is one poster on this Forum (21CH...) who always leaps to the Met Office's defence, so I expect to hear from him; but in truth, five day forecasts are worthless and even on the day expect that a high percentage of the time the 'forecasters' (sic) to get it wrong!!

Hmm, what on earth was the motivation for the title of this individual event held at Kingsmead in 1976? Won by Canterbury rider who had something of a JC hairstyle back then, Les Rumsey. But why name a Speedway meeting after a Lloyd Webber Musical..?!
-
Mirroring the Olympique at Wolverhampton - during the Mike Parker days at Crayford there was this big indiv event. Anyone know how many times staged (was it all three years '68 to '70?) and who the winner(s) were?

Hmm, yes i suppose it is - though our own Adam was able to be drafted in by KL when they were short at Dudley so clearly not a hard and fast rule..? -

What total and absolute nonsense!! It wouldn't sound good if it wasn't complete rubbish!! All I can say about this person's supposed counting is that (1) they must've struggled badly in Maths at school; and (2) they clearly should've gone to SpecSavers!! -
Yes I think so - 'declared' is the correct expression. IMHO at reserve (especially when 15 & 16 year olds) there should be more flexibility and not need to be 'declared' riders... Not sure why that change was made - just seems to restrict options for TMs and for (young) riders alike.
