No thanks. I'm also not interested in hearing that Nick Griffin is nice to his old mum...

Yeh, right...!!!!

I still play Gary Glitter record too... And the whole bloody world plays Michael Jackson records.. But nothing stops the fact that this Speedway lady rider was interned during a time of national crisis because she was considered a dangerous enemy of the state AND she worshipped apparently as a god, the most evil leader in World history. Just as Glitter's career will never be viewed without his PC World-revealed shame being discussed can't see how Ms. Taylour could expect her motorcycling and driving exploits not also to be viewed in the knowledge of her Nazi past.. Though speedyguy would choose that indeed to be the case..

You are thinking of a Wembley from another time... There are considerably more facilities there now and the massive 'Wembley City' project will be delivering many more... My personal wish now, though, is that we look to see a major Speedway event staged at the new Olympic Stadium in late 2012 or 2013... I believe that this can definitely happen should we have the will as a sport to press for it... I do believe though that such an event demands a far bigger meeting than that of the near-meaningless 'British GP': just one of what are effectively little more than 'qualifiers'. No, for a major London stadium (Wembley or the Olympic stadium) it has to be something where a major championship is actually decided not an invitational old boys network benefit.. Bring back the proper World Championship, stage the Final in the September following the Olympics in the Athletics stadium itself and the world will sit up and pay attention.. Currently Cardiff itself doesn't even pay much attention let alone the world!!!

'Nuff said! These MI5 files show the full extent of this odious creature's views; and her internment proves what a danger she represented to her own country. Hard to conceive of worse behaviour. It is truly shocking that this terrible past was airbrushed out of her career history for so long. I hope now speedyguy you will concede that your defense of this nasty Nazi is entirely inappropriate...

I would have no problem (nor should anyone else...) with any Soviet bloc riders being members of the CP... You seem to think it some way that equates in any fashion with this lady's odious Nazi sympathies. There is no comparison. Ms. Taylour supporting Hitler is indefensible; and I'm sorry but the personal conduct and views of an individual DOES impact on their sporting, academic or artistic achievements. Ask Gary Glitter if his entertainment career is now viewed as it was before his criminal offences.. Sorry, you probably don't know who Gary Glitter is!!

You're off the mark here speedyguy. She openly supported Nazism and so yes she was as bad as the concentration camp guards.. Indeed worse as many of them were German soldiers with effectively no choice as to what they were ordered to do. For someone like her, Irish or British (not sure which..) to expound such hateful and treasonous views most certainly negates any of her racing exploits. IMHO, her name should be consigned to the dustbin where such odious people with far right views all belong...

Has Anyone Raced Against 3 Generations
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
You are exactly right and the point i've been making. The poor unsuspecting person who started this thread wondered if anyone had ridden against three generations of rider and quoted Street (grand-father), Phil Crump (father) and Jason; and interestingly two riders who rode against all three have been identified. speedyguy and the utterly pathetic 'jeff' have just sought to be ludicrously pedantic arguing that this isn't so, when clearly in the spirit of what the poster was asking it is... I say again, only some kind of crazed pedant or misogynist (or royalist) who feels that the female side of a family is utterly unimportant would dismiss the extremely close family relationship between maternal grand-father and grand-son. jeff laughingly compared such a relationship to that of a neighbour.. what's up m8, didn't you get a birthday pressie from your grand-parents or something...!? -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
So you don't regard a man and his daughter's son to be related then..? In my book that's called a grand-father/grand-child relationship! But obviously on that I'm completely wrong!!! -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
You are an extremely unpleasant person... I trust that you will get a warning for this.. Oh, and Neil Street (grand-father), Phil Crump (father) and Jason Crump are CERTAINLY "3 generations of the same family" as far as Jason's concerned!!! I just feel that THAT might be the most important thing don't you... -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
You're doing it again. This is utterly irrelevant. Jason Crump IS Neil Street's grand-father. Only YOU think that he somehow isn't because Street his on his mother's side of the family. God help your grand-kids if you regard any of them this way!!! -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
But we're not talking the finer points of "genealogy" are we..??!! You love avoiding answering a question when you're wrong...! So I'll ask it again. As Jason's FATHER was a Speedway rider and his GRAND-FATHER was too (irrelevant that this was his mother's father...), in what possible way does this NOT make him (ie Jason) a third generation Speedway rider..??!! -
Has Anyone Raced Against 3 Generations
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
That's just nonsense!! I'm sure many maternal grandfathers will be extremely upset to be told their family connection to their grandchildren is "indirect"... -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
This is because you are WRONG. There ARE three generations of rider involved here. Rider; his father; his grand-father.. How is that NOT three generations of Speedway riders..?! And DON'T merely repeat that Street isn't Phil's father - we all know that.. THAT'S not the issue at all! -
Has Anyone Raced Against 3 Generations
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
But that's not the issue and is pure semantics. As Jason's father AND his grand-father were riders, then this MUST mean he a third generation Speedway rider; and - as it happens (to return to the question posed by this thread..) - we have uncovered one rider (Gordon Kennett) who has raced against all three of these 'generations'... -

No- I still don't see this. no-one is suggesting a blood relationship between Phil and Street but Neil Street IS Jason's grand-father. Phil IS his father. In what sense then is Jason NOT a third generation rider behind father & grand-father!? -

Yep fair point. I wasn't trying to imply by the word "denied" that the tapes exclusion was unfair or incorrect. It was a bloody shame though... -

All of those who responded missed the point! Blazeaway- who HASN'T responded(!) - was saying he was GLAD that Emil had touched the tapes... My point was WHY would anyone (bearing in mind the oft-mentioned dubious quality of the excitement generated in the meeting generally...) be happy to be denied what would've been a cracking semi and then (especially...) Final...! -
Has Anyone Raced Against 3 Generations
Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to father jack's topic in Years Gone By
But if you look at it from Jason's perspective, Phil is his father and Street is his grand-father. One doesn't make a distinction between a maternal and a paternal grandparent. Sorry, s-g you ARE wrong this is a bona-fide three generations situation!!! -

Jason Crump's father is Phil Crump; his grand-father is Neil Street. Explain how this is NOT three generations!!!! -

You mystify me.. You defend the GPs even though they are the dullest as dishwater things ever created. Then a new young, brilliant rider comes along, more worth seeing than the rest of the lot put together; and you post an appalling comment like this.. So come on then, why would ANYONE be happy that the BEST rider (by some distance) in the field - who'd already won the meeting under proper rules - be denied a place in the Final..? Coz I can't think of even one rational reason why anyone who cares about the sport would think that!!!! -

Well, yes but I can't imagine anyone rode against all three (which is the subject of this thread!)... -

Parsloes 1928 nearly replied to youngy105's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
That was NEVER the case.. You had to qualify for the event (with one exception when the Poles seeded their allocation) and many a great rider fell by the wayside in the white-hot cauldron of qualifying. But those who won with a tiny number of exceptions WERE the best in the world. Facing the pressure of having to WIN Speedway races against the best in a massively pressurised event against your peers at the top of the sport is EXACTLY what a World Champ should have to do... Raking in the second places week in week out is not, to me, such a good indication of a true champ's mantle... But I LOVE Sayfutdinov - his tapes exclusion last night was a tragedy. How this teenager deserves to be World champ... Exactly why Nicholls is considered worthy of his place amnazes me. For gawd's sake, next year can Tai be picked instead.. THEN we'd have teens matching the number of 38/39 (and by then 40) year olds in the Grand Finals!!! -

A lot of comments on the Sky coverage that the World Championship is all about "consistency".. That's odd - in the past it used to be about excellence... -

I reckon with Les you are spot on. And probably a unique distinction at that.....
