  1. Great to see King answer his critics in style at the Abbey tonight! Our World Cup Superstar beat Sedgmen twice and Stachyra once; Crump, Gollob and Zagar must barely be able to sleep with worry!
  2. You may well be right, Chalkie. I know that a few of us posted last night that there may be more to this than was evident at first glance, but if that was the case then it should have been made clear when the team was announced. From what Bridger said, it looks like they are assuming that Rico will be fit for the Thursday, and if that's the case then surely he should be in the side on Monday as well?
  3. FWIW I wouldn't expect our chances of winning the World Cup to be any greater if we were led by Rob Lyon, Alun Rossiter or Harry Potter for that matter, but I'm pretty sure that the last 2 would pick our best rider. It's clear to see that Scott is struggling badly, but Rico has been superb this year, regularly out-performing the other Brits in Poland and Sweden and averaging more than any of them domestically as well. Mystifying.
  4. Lee had 1 poor meeting in the Race Off - why don't you quote the combined scores for the last few years as Steve and I both posted? Since 2004 for example? Current Green Sheets of the GB Team: Harris 8.22, Kennett 8.13, Bridger 7.63, King 7.42, Woffinden 7.06 Richardson is on 8.67
  5. Richardson has the best record in the World Cup of any British rider. Bar none. Oh, and he's the top Brit across Europe and was the highest scoring rider in the British Final.
  6. Totally agree Steve. If there isn't an underlying reason why Rico hasn't been selected then this is a joke decision from a comedy manager.
  7. Harris, Kennett, Woffinden, King, Bridger. We're not going to win the damn thing, but we could at least try.
  8. Fully agree about "Agadoo" however there's never anything wrong with a good blast of "Hi Ho"... just ask King Jamie! It did strike me that the sound was a bit down on quality, and though I quite like the rider specific tunes ("What's the Frequency Kenneth?" was a cracker) the "Come on England" chants were hideous.
  9. Fair comment; FWIW I didn't see him do anything wrong either.
  10. With respect SCB, if neither you or SB saw what had happened or who was involved, how do you know who is or isn't "innocent"?
  11. With the possible exception of a bushy moustache that even Dietbowers would have been proud of, the "Queen" tribute were a very poor imitation of the real thing. Even the "Wayne's World" was a bit closer to the mark, and at least it was funny! I'm not sure why we need a "warm up act" anyway to be honest. I go to Cardiff to have a couple of light ales, to watch some speedway and catch up with a few friendly faces. Or maybe that's just me?
  12. Quoted for future reference! Although FWIW I don't believe the rumours circulating in our hotel this morning that he was also involved in Jacko's untimely demise on Thursday.
  13. Well, I was definitely there for a good 2 hours, so if you can't remember then I guess that says it all!
  14. Come off it shazzy; that's a very selective version of what Ben said back at the hotel. If what he said what true then he deserves everything that he gets. I wasn't going to post anything about this, but I'm not having you make out that he was a saint when quite clearly he wasn't.
  15. A decent meeting by Cardiff standards, with the track holding up very well. I'm not convinced there were that many racing lines however, with the outside gates and wide line tending to dominate. Crump was untroubled throughout with the exception of the Jonsson incident, and was a worthy winner. Barring injury the World Title is already in the bag, which doesn't exactly whet my appetite for the rest of the series. Congrats to Fast Freddie - best of the rest is no mean feat with Crump in this mood and he had a cracking meeting. Ladbrokes must have taken a right hammering as there were about 10 of us in the queue when I placed my bet and to a man we were all on the Swede. Why on earth was he 33-1 given his current form across Europe? Nicholls / Sajfutdinov - nothing wrong with the race, just hard and competitive, so the handbags at the end were as unexpected as they were uncalled for. Mr Clean - very sad to see his GP career sliding away as it has over the past 4 meetings. Maybe he'll give the Robins fans another win before the series is out but it looks a long shot at the moment. At least he kept battling and still talks a good game! Semi Final Exclusions - Bomber spot on, Nicki hard done by, or, as one esteemed judge text me, "excluded on reputation only". Fair play to Chris for getting there in the first place; his last qualifying ride brought the house down. At least the refereeing was better than last year's shambolic display! Crowd - definitely down a good deal on last year. As ever good to see some familiar faces, both before and after the meeting.
  16. She'll probably be eating chips with her head in her "Westlife" book if past performance at The Abbey are anything to go by, so you should be able to tickle in at least a pint of 'bow per chapter!
  17. Leave Blunsdon by 4 on Friday, down to Somerset, then across to Cardiff after the meeting in time for a couple of late lemonades somewhere before the real fun starts on Saturday!
  18. I hope that you open them again on the way back? Always a pleasure to get back the right side of the water! "Pints or Points" is in charge of travel plans for the Snail, so we could be curled up next to Paulco in the gutter for all I know? Apparently we're in somewhere called "Roath"?
  19. The Great Untarnished One is strictly a "1 bottle of Budweiser and out" kind of guy if his form at the Abbey is anything to go by! A bit like your good self, Dave, I'm sure!
  20. Only 7 times?! Clean is having a hard time of it this year but remains as professional as ever; I would love him to take 1 more GP title before he calls it a day.
  21. I backed Jason last year and fully expect him to get to the Final again but can't see him being much value. I'd love Emil to win to blow the Championship open, but think that we could well see a different winner for the first time this summer... the question is who? I may have a tickle on AJ but will see the prices and see where the value lies... Final: Crump, Hancock, Jonsson, Sajfutdinov.
  22. I always stop at Tamworth services: it's precisely 100 miles from home and has a Ladbrokes too, although I guess I'm not usually on the way to Cardiff. I used to work at Leigh Delamere (M4 J17) when I was a very young Snail. One day a coach of Bristol City fans and a coach of Cardiff City fans both arrived at the same time. I learnt a lot about what it must have been like at Ypres that afternoon.
  23. Jeepers Creepers! I know there's a credit crunch going on, but if people are really that worried about £1 then they really shouldn't be in Cardiff for GP weekend! Best of luck to the guys putting on the show.
