Mildenhall V The Heathens
oldswindonsupporter replied to greyhoundp's topic in National League Speedway
Hmmm, I was planning to take in this meeting but would prefer to see both teams at full strength - is there any reason being given for the change in time? -
Is this still available to visit as up in Scotland next w/e on a northern speedway tour lasting from Thursday to the Tuesday. A

Nothing mentioned tonight re next year either, normally they announce the date for next year during the meeting. Looks like either the MS have jacked up the price or IMG trying to bring it down...be a crying shame to loose the venue...what about the Olympic stadium post August or even Wembley? -

No sign of these appearing unless someone knows any different! Does anyone know when they might be published? Failing that, does anyone know of any NL fixtures for Easter Monday or for July 31st (Sunday)? Thks in advance. A

Just to echo the previous comments re the new web site - clean and uncluttered, visually very good. Congratulations to the designer. Rgds A

Does anyone know when the NL fixtures will be out? Trying to plan a sppedway trip over Easter and would be useful to know if any tracks are riding over that w/e. Any info would be appreciated. Thks A

Agreed! Had thought Tyson was after and ready for a PL place this year - maybe this might be a doubling up spot? Will he get enough rides to make this pay? However, after reading the article, this looks like a numbers game especially if Tyron and Tai are remaining with Wolves and also the line "We have explained to him what we expect and the job he can do for us..." Hopefully this won't end in tears. Rgds A

Steve - if you have the schedule agreed, are you not able to publish a list of venues and dates? Rgds A

"Again this is for non-payment despite the fact the BSPA have owed me money for two years, whereas I owe them six months’ money.” Something doesn't seem to add up here! If this is correct then the BSPA have a case to answer in that why have they not paid PB and why weren't they monitoring payments - to end up being owed 6 months money (not sure what this is meant to cover or be for) smacks of poor administration on the part of the BSPA. Shouldn't they have been involved after a month of non payment? Also how can the bond to used to pay a fine? Can someone explain that? Do the riders who haven't been paid have a case against the BSPA? All in all, no matter which way this is read, an absolute mess. Rgds A

Rider requests? Well you asked, how about a septet that includes Eddie (be hard to imagine a tour without him), Tyson (assuming he is not a PL rider), Austin, Gino and Bryce to name but five!? Not sure how feasible that might be Steve but be good PR material perhaps? Rgds A
-
"The reason we are touring so much is based on Kenny Ingalls and Tyson Burmeister's progress, it seems that those riders who could make it to PL level need three tours to get to that level." Steve - whilst not wishing you to reveal anything untoward or anything that hasn't been agreed, do you think we are hopeful of seeing Tyson in the PL in 2011?
-
I stand corrected! Thanks Jeff! Did think it a bit odd that there it was being portrayed differently! Not sure I agree 100% with Steve's direction from another post "but I also like to bring the riders I want to bring" sounds very much like the "little boys club" to coin the phrase. Hopefully it isn't like that as talent whether your face fits or not should be encouraged. All that said, it is an opportunity for these guys and not doubt takes up alot of time and effort to organise, so, I guess thanks Steve for doing it as I have seen these guys in both guises now and have enjoyed both although if pushed, I enjoyed the Dream Team visit more, that might have been due to location and many other variables though! Again, just my view!

Don't think this is the USA Dream team, just another touring team which to my mind is not quite the same and much will depend on who they decide to bring over. The last touring team had two 50+ riders in Eddie and Shawn and a 35 yr old! Whilst it was nice to get to meet and chat with Shawn this time around, the tour to my mind should be all about the up and coming riders from the US who might fancy putting them themselves in the shop window so to speak. Bryce Starks fits that to a tee and is a prime example of who should be in the team. Yes I agree some experinece is a good thing and accept that having Eddie in the team or someone like him is a bonus but not two of them and a 35 yr old! It might be nostagla but I'd prefer to go and see the youngsters race out of the two having seen both teams. Just my view of course.

Wildcats Vs Usa Touring Team
oldswindonsupporter replied to stressed's topic in National League Speedway
Just read the report on the Wildcats website, Tom Brown quoted as saying "The track tonight was the best it has been all year, obviously it was a bit slick, its a shame it couldnt off been like this all year smooth, which makes for safer racing"... hmmm, my view as a spectator and thus someone who pays admission money, it was poor entertainment, if that is the best, I'd hate to see it at its worse! I note the chairman bemoans the attendance, but to my mind, poor track, poor racing, no crowd! As I said, first time visitor and told as I saw it. Based on that, we saw nothing to want to return if that is a sample of the racing served up week in week out! However, that said, if the track produced quality racing, week in, week out, then that would be different proposition. Of the Americans, as previously said, I agree, Tyson and Bryce, two to watch, the latter, impressive and unlucky to shed a primary chain in the last heat. Would be a good gamble in the premier league if they could be given a decent run in a team. -
Wildcats Vs Usa Touring Team
oldswindonsupporter replied to stressed's topic in National League Speedway
Have to agree with Wessex Wanderer, dust, dust and more dust and a blue groove after 2 heats! What a dismal example of track preparation, as a first time visitor to Weymouth, one of a group of four, will not be in any hurry to return based on this visit. Yes the racing was close but only the one line, what a waste! Make the gate fine, don't and goodnight. No idea of crowd levels but thought there was a fair number of people there but if that was thought of being a bad crowd, then the support is there or has been there, perhaps the late addition didn't help? Such a let down by the track, get it right and people will return, get it wrong and boy, no second chances. As a first timer, perhaps others can add comments on how the racing in general has been re passing opportunities but last night was dire and devoid of any and would like to think last night was a one off, but if not, why wasn't the effort put in to get the track right - good track, good racing, otherwise, it's just follow the leader. To me, that's not what I go to speedway for. Facilites can be added later, where though might be a challenge in such a small space! Why no chips on sale either was a mystery, anyone know why? Have to say, as a result, had the bacon buttie, yum! I understand it is up for sale but that surely is no excuse especially given the visitor's efforts to put on this tour for last nights track preparation. Inexcuseable. Just my view of course! A -
Rachelle Kerr
oldswindonsupporter replied to Parsloes 1928 nearly's topic in International World of Speedway
Rachelle told me a little while back she misses racing and might give it a go again one day - I'll keep you all posted! Well Steve, from the Golden Gate Speedway, Vallejo CA - Set 4, 2010 report posted by Gary Roberts to one of the speedway mailing lists, Rachelle is riding again. Came 1st in the Div 2 Main Event: Division 2 Main Event 1. Rachelle Kerr; 2. Fred Cook; 3. Tyler Warren; 4. Brian Leventon; 5. Casey Cornilsen; 6. Dustin Berdollt. A popular win for Rachelle Kerr, who stole the first place on the last bend from Fred Cook (son of John). I was really impressed with Tyler Warren, who won both his heats and took third in the main, riding a 250 cc machine.
