  1. Yes they do charge face value and even at 5.05pm the will not lower the price. PS; Hope you enjoyed the tickets ..... it was £30 for the two
  2. Riders used to take the spoilers out on wet tracks because in the turn the dirt is pushing against it but without it, the dirt gets moved either sideways or goes through causing less drag. Think the spoilers used by Fredrik Lindgren now are much safer especially in first bend incidents when riders can easily fall with their hands hitting another riders rear wheel on the way down.
  3. That would be great but I could just imagine SCB or Silver Bee trying to get over the finer points of the rule book to some 6'5" Pole after Gollob has been excluded for bringing down Bomber !!! ..... It would have to be two people with good humour, polite speaking, not biased, respect the sport, acknowledge the qualities of ALL riders and from any country. That rules out fans from Poole, Coventry, Swindon, Peterborough, Lakeside, Eastbourne, Ipswich and Belle Vue ..... Me and Stevebrum it is then !!!!
  4. Well after last nights brilliant GP in Torun, both Gollob and Hampel have made a big gap on third placed Kenneth Bjerre with Jason Crump 20 points behind Tomasz. While we are only approaching the half way stage, I would say only injuries will stop there being at least one Pole on the final rostrum and every likelyhood there will be a new World Champion this year although Cardiff could see Crumpy pull some back if last year is anything to go by. 1st Tomasz Gollob 78 2nd Jaroslaw Hampel 75 3rd Kenneth Bjerre 59 4th Jason Crump 58 5th Rune Holta 48 6th Andreas Jonsson 46 7th Hans Andersen 46 8th Nicki Pedersen 44 9th Chris Holder 41 10th Magnus Zetterstrom 37 11th Chris Harris 36 12th Greg Hancock 34 13th Fredrik Lindgren 33 14th Emil Sayfutdinov 27 15th Tai Woffinden 22
  5. As the Millenium Stadium holds around 70,000 for Speedway and the attendance at best is around 50,000 then there are always tickets available on the day. If you are near the Prince of Wales looking down the road towards the pits entrance (Westgate St), there is a little ticket office on the right hand side where tickets are always available. I always get mine on the day unless I have bought tickets off people that can no longer go and have already bought theirs.
  6. Camera speed ..... Bikes coming from the side would result in a blur You need a fast action camera positioned to the side and high above the starting gate, as they do in the Greyhounds. Havent seen anyone else mention the so called "Photo Finish" results, but I got them all right .... apart from Hampel v Holta as I'm pretty sure Hampel won that one, but because his front wheel was lifted, it gave a false view as on camera his front wheel is in the air when they are looking at which wheel hits the white line first This in theory changes who goes in which semi-final
  7. Sadly as the report says .... it is banned for Football and Rugby matches ... no mention of speedway !!
  8. Nice One ... If this thread helps others get some cash back then even better
  9. BJERRE 50, CRUMP 45, LINDGREN 35, HANCOCK 25, HAMPEL 25 Fredrik Lindgren captain
  10. Yes there is a topic asking if people have recieved theirs yet, but this is different and may help out a few forum members too. Every year I buy my ticket on the day as there is always some available and wherever you sit the view is fine. However I have in the past also bought tickets off forum members that either can't attend or have a member of their party now cancelled. Therefore this thread is to help those with Spare tickets get at least some money back and also let people like myself and many more that usually buy them on the day get hold of a ticket that helps others out. So has anyone got any spare tickets ?
  11. With a possible 27 points available in each GP, a few big scores could turn around quite a few riders chances this year as out of a possible 108 points the current leader has just 60 points so far and a 20+ haul from Holder, Lindgren, Hancock etc will be back in the frame. With 3 Polish GP's I think the title this year will go to a new Champion from Hampel, Gollob and Jonsson. Certainly think Woffinden, Lindgren, Holder and Emil have to be included next season even if they miss the cut as the current line up is not too far off the top 15 in the world at present with possibly one or two exceptions.
  12. I would say injuries have held him backj in previous years but now he is coming of age and as the usual faces dont match up each GP, then he could easily win the title. As it looks like the new faces are pushing forward, I too would love Gollob to lift the title as a just reward for the years of action he has given the speedway fans with his racing. Hampel, Holder, Lindgren etc have years ahead of them still Apart from thos ruts on the outside which made some riders try different lines to avoid them, it was a decent GP in the end and shows that these man built tracks can work. Hope they use a good surface for Cardiff ..... as they use British track staff, will they get Doc Bridgett involved at Cardiff as he is possibly the best around these days as results have shown week in week out, year in year out.
  13. So far in the 2010 GP Series, only Tomasz Gollob of the older brigade has really shown up while defending Champion, Jason Crump (Age 34) struggles to make Semi Finals, Nicki Pedersen is being passed and missing the cut, while Greg Hancock is looking well off the pace and slower from the gate. Is this old age catching up with them or simply as Sky TV commented, The Changing Of The Guard ? Jaroslaw Hampel (Age 28) leads the series after winning in Copenhagen, 3rd in Czecho and 2nd in Poland for the European Final. On 60 points he is 5 points clear of Czecho winner, Kenneth Bjerre (Age 26) who has been brilliant in every round so far. Gollob is back in third on 54 points but there is then an eleven point gap to Jason Crump and Andreas Jonsson (Age 29) who at least in the last two GP's has looked excellent and one of the quickest around and on current form looks the most likely to challenge the present top three, all of whom have yet to be crowned World Champion ! Nicki Pedersen (Age 33) looks a remote distance from the rider that has lifted three world titles and when he is struggling to score a hand full of points then the younger riders are stepping in to fill the gaps. With Chris Holder (Age 22) looking fast, Emil Sayfutdinov (AGE 20) already shown last season ewhat he can do and Fredrik Lindgren (Age 24) who keeps completing 4 riders each GP and missing the cut, is surely going to get higher in the rankings as the season goes on. Tai Woffinden (Age 20) is starting to show signs of mixing it with the best and in Denmark beat Crump, Pedersen and Gollob in one race with ease and with the lack of British World Class riders, he will surely get a nomination next year if he continues to improve. Notice also that young Emil's injury forced him to miss last nights GP and was replaced by a 35 year-old ...... who failed to score !! Although there is only FOUR rounds gone, some things are looking odds on with the bookies 1 ~ The Winner of the World Title in 2010 will be a first time winner ! 2 ~ At least one present rider over the age of 30 will miss the 2011 Series ! 3 ~ Chances are a former World Champion in the series now may be missing the 2011 Series ! 4 ~ After 2 continous years of a 19 year-old recieving a Wild Card nomination, chances are another teenager will be drafted in next year too ! 5 ~ After 37 years of waiting ..... Poland could have a World Champion once more ! Here is to the next decade of Hampel, Bjerre, Jonsson, Lindgren, Holder, Sayfutdinov, Woffinden and prospects like Ward, Janowski etc coming into the Series and form The Changing Of The Guard !!
  14. TEAMS IN THE ELITE LEAGUE = 10 Belle Vue, Birmingham(NEW), Coventry, Eastbourne, Ipswich, Lakeside, Peterborough, Poole, Swindon, Wolves. Each week (starting second week in April) teams are paired up to compete in one home and one away meeting each. After 9 weeks (ending June 12), ALL teams will have ridden 18 league matches. The weeks remaining in June are used up with KO Cup matches, postponed meetings, challenge matches etc. NEW AVERAGES SET - Averages are issued after ALL A fixtures completed (no later than June 19) and come into effect on June 20th with any transfers using the new averages but teams can only use their new 1-7 from July. From July 4th, ALL teams pair off again to ride their 18 B Fixtures. This takes you to week starting September 12th when KO Cup Semi Finals are held. Week starting September 19th, Play-Off Semi Finals Week starting September 26th, Play-Off Final Week starting October 3rd, KO Cup Finals Obviously some tracks have the same race night, so these clashes are arranged for Bank Holidays ... eg, Belle Vue v Wolves 11am or Good Friday. Although the finer points need working out, using this system ALL teams rebuild at the same time ... ALL riders get new averages at the same time ... League tables are more level with teams riding the same amount of home and away matches at the same time. Is there any reason that this can't work ? If so surely it could be worked out to make the playing field level for ALL teams. Suggestions ... Ideas ...
  15. 1 Tai Woffinden 2 Leon Madsen 3 Piotr Protasiewicz 4 Jarek Hampel 5 Jason Crump 6 Greg Hancock 7 Kenneth Bjerre 8 Mag Zetterstrom 9 Nicki Pedersen 10 Rune Holta 11 Andreas Jonsson 12 Chris Holder 13 Tomasz Gollob 14 Chris Harris 15 Hans Andersen 16 Fredrik Lindgren
  16. As I need big points to catch up and have firm belief he will come good ..... Can I have Fredrik Lindgren as captain please
  17. They are much like Home Bargains and I went into the one in Hanley today where they had these Air Horns on sale along with other ENGLAND merchandise like Inflatable balls, hands and flags. They have a store in Stafford on the Queens Retail Park but I'm not sure if they are Nationide or mainly Staffordshire / Cheshire based ?
  18. Bjerre and AJ both had first picks in the semi-finals and for some reason both opted for red and both failed to make it to the final. Then in the final, Hampel picks first ... chosses red and is done by Gollob off blue. After the interval, Gate 2 won SIX of the EIGHT heats and then two of the following heats. Gate 1 had only won ONE race after the interval and finished 3rd or 4th in 7 of the last 11 races. ..... Thought Hampel was clearly going for Blue but obviously worried about being pushed out on turn one. For me it was a racing accident and if I had to decide which rider was at fault, then I would have to go with AJ being the cause as Gollob had edged in front .... he kept to the white line ..... there was minimal contact and had he not turned when he did, then he would have been in the air fence with AJ. I do have the thought that AJ actually stood up just before contact as he saw Zorro coming inwards while leading and looked to be making a switch to the outside ..... split second incident, but cant really fault Gollob for racing !
  19. Hasn't been announced yet but I would say its odds on that Nicolai Klindt will be selected due to age, current form and showed up well last year in the WTC Looks like Piotr Protasiewicz (#19) will be replacing Emil in Copenhagen with any other injuries being covered by Davey Watt (#20)
  20. Quite frankly the best entertainment at an event like this would be the free style Moto X riders like the RED BULL X FIGHTERS They are in Russia 2 weeks prior to Cardiff and Madrid 2 weeks after. They may cost a bit, but would certainly be more entertaining than some X Factor loser or Chas N Dave belting out Rabitt Rabbitt Rabbitt etc etc RED BULL VIDEO
  21. Not a bad meeting considering the rain, sadly the Wolves pairing of Freddie and Tai finished 15th and 16th, but there are still 9 more rounds to go and I'm sure Freddie will come good soon. The Hans/Bomber clash was a difficult one to call and either could have been excluded. Hans HAD passed Bomber Bomber lost control because Hans blocked his run The Contact was before the fall These would point to Bomber being excluded, but then you have to look at Bomber fell because Hans cut across him The contact was enough to out balance Bomber and left him no choice Bombers bike was hooked up on Hans's back wheel and he had to go down These would point to Hans going ...... Either way, it was the refs call and he decided it was Hans that was at fault. ....... I would possibly say it was more Bombers fault the race was stopped .... but only just ! Good to see the old boys amongst the points and racing their hearts out. Zorro, Herbie and Tomasz were all good battling riders in thos conditions while Emil made a few important mistakes.
  22. World Super Bikes, F1 and many other motor sports race in countries that have never had a home rider involved and take it to countries like Dubai, Thailand, Japan etc. Why Speedway cant do this with the GP Series instead of having 3 in Poland and 2 in Sweden each year is beyond me. Get the series out to the whole world and maybe the sport will grow outside of Europe more ..... even if only on TV !!!
  23. Lindback is recovering from a broken collar bone so maybe 25/1 is about right Watch out for Freddie ..... going to win at least 1 round this year
  24. Having already entered before GP1 ..... I will stick with my original choice 3. Emil SAYFUTDINOV £50,000 (CAPT) 6. Nicki PEDERSEN £45,000 9. Fredrik LINDGREN £35,000 10. Hans ANDERSEN £35,000 13. Jaroslaw HAMPEL £25,000 PS; If you fail to nominate, do you keep the same captain as the previous round ?
  25. Always park in the exact same place each year Best to psrk up on the road lading into Town where the Castle is on the left hand side and then walk down onto the High St.
